Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

A while back, I started taking notes at church. Key points that I felt were necessary to revisit. I find this aspect hilarious because my note taking skills in skill were very subpar. That is being polite.

In my sermon note taking, if there is something that strikes me as interesting, I will write it down to look up later and learn. Such as, in the book of Luke, when Jesue came to them after his resurrection, they gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb (Luke 24:42). What caught my ear yesterday was honeycomb…what was its significance? This morning I find that it is not in a lot of the translations for one reason or another.

A second item of interest was our pastor was explaining that his nephew who suffers from MS is also having hearing loss. It did not become apparent until he started reaching for his mother’s face and turning it to face his face so he could hear her. She stated that she did not know when he started it, but it was a sign that something was off and that is when they found he was losing his hearing. He, our preacher, noted that Jesus is turning our faces towards him so that we can ‘hear’ him.

The third point was that many denominations are only teaching the ‘love’ aspect and ignoring the sin aspect. That they are ignoring the resurrection story and not teaching of its importance. In my listening and note taking I highlighted that many Christians are doing the same in the guise of building the Kingdom. That, my friends, is a slippery slope leading straight to hell.

It was at this point that the lobby doors opened and closed. They are quite loud and distinguishable. In that instant, my mind switched from the sermon and my growth to ‘this is an active shooter instance.’ From there my mind raced about the scenarios for that cause. Naturally, it was NOT a shooter instance, however, that was a severely hard left in the throws of the pastor’s message.

Once my mind was semi-refocused on the message; these are the points that came to mind…

*We are a walking quandary to the non-believer.
*Recovery exercises with God are in His Word.
*Have you ‘hitched’ yourself to Jesus Christ?
*Reckon yourself dead to sin.
*If God say’s it, you can count on it.
*Do you remember what Jesus said…his promise.

All of these points, in and of themselves, are quality investigative points. Areas that we all should practice and invoke or study further in our own walks. However…the thought of the active shooter never left my mind.

I believe that this message was so powerful for me, that the enemy wanted to derail my thoughts and send me down a rabbit hole. To which, he did. However, what he also did was give me a story idea for an upcoming challenge.

The enemy failed in completely detouring my growth. Jesus turned my face towards his, sent me to His word to exercise, so that I could remain hitched to him. He reminded me that I am dead to sin and that His promise to me is … If God said it, you can count on it.

Be blessed today my friends.
