As they tied her up to kill her, one of the militants asked if she had any last words. “What you are doing is not right,” she told them. “I know you will kill me, but even so, know that what you are doing is not right. Jesus loves you, and he doesn’t like what you are doing.” Her words seemed to carry a power beyond their simple meaning. “Everybody stood quiet,” she recalled. “Then I heard the leader say, ‘Don’t shed the blood of that one.
