WHAT DO CAMELS AND NEEDLES HAVE IN COMMON?
(MARK 10: 23-28)
What do you think about the most? What consumes your mind on a daily basis? Is it your job? How about your spouse/ partner? Maybe it's your children or money. In other words, what do you worship? What do you live for? What motivates you to get up in the morning or demotivates from doing harmful things?
We have have a 'God-shaped' hole in our hearts. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man."
So if we are not fulfilling our duty by serving God, what or who are we serving?
This brings to our text for today's Christ says "How hardly shall they have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" What?! Does this mean that rich people can't go to heaven? Of course not!
Jesus then clarifies "Children, how hard is it for them that TRUST in riches to enter into the kingdom of God." There is nothing wrong with having loads of money or having a good job or good husband/wife, but do you trust in these things/people more than you trust God? Is your desire to go to work and serve your boss greater than your desire to serve God? Check yourself!
We must look within ourselves and see if there is anything or anyone holding us back from serving God. We must give up our earthly possessions in order to enter into the kingdom of God. Matthew 6:24 says, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other." If there is something, anything that it is holding you back from giving you all to Christ today, let it go.
