I'm not sure who this is for, but i know its for me:
Being self conscious is fear!
Being self conscious can cause you to miss what God is calling you to do. It can paralyze you when you attempt to do what God has called you to do or to speak what He is calling you to say.
It is literally bondage. It causes you to worry more about what people think or will think about you.
It promotes lack and discouragement because you don't feel worthy to fulfill God's call on your life.
How do I know this to be true? I have lived being self conscious my [whole life].
The following is the definition of "self conscious:"
the ability to control oneself, in particular one's emotions and desires or the expression of them in one's behavior, especially in difficult situations.
Now in the natural that seems like it's something that we should walk in, that we are created with this ability to help us in life. But, wait! Let's look closer to what this definition is saying.
The first line says:"the ability to [CONTROL] one's self." This is where self conscious is really something that hinders us in our Kingdom walk.
Now wait a minute preacher; isn't self control a part of the Fruit of the Spirit? Arent we called to walk in the fruit of the Spirit?
Controlling one's self to walk in obedience to the Father, is not the same as worrying how you act or feel based on what others may think or perceive about you.
The Word tells us to deny self and to to follow Christ (Luke 9:23). Paul said it like this:
“My old identity has been co-crucified with Christ and no longer lives. And now the essence of this new life is no longer mine, for the Anointed One lives his life through me—we live in union as one! My new life is empowered by the faith of the Son of God who loves me so much that he gave himself for me, dispensing his life into mine!” (Galatians 2:20 TPT).
The bottom line is that when we are so self conscious, that we worry about the perception of others of how we may look or possibly saying the wrong thing or not being able to convey what God has called us to speak... that is FEAR.
If your life is in Christ, we are called to live boldly for Him. You are worthy! You have been redeemed, so you belong fully to Him. It's time to stop worrying about what others think or how you are perceived. Be so caught in your relationship that, when He calls you to speak or do, that you won't take the time to think about what others think. Your only focus will be bringing glory to the Father, that you'll be in a position to radically affect people's lives for the Kingdom.
Always remember, it's never, ever about you... it's always about the Father's will, His plan and purpose.
This will take the pressure off of self, and you will live in freedom.
The Father desires to take your self consciousness and transform it into God-consciousness.
FEAR NOT!
