“I pray that they will all be one...” We are all parts of one great building. Let us not quarrel with our fellow stones.
— Charles Spurgeon
Unity matters deeply to the heart of God.
In John 17, Jesus prayed that His people would be one. Not divided by pride. Not separated by preferences. Not consumed by arguments, comparison, or offense. But united in Him, grounded in truth, and marked by love.
Spurgeon’s reminder is a powerful one: we are all parts of one great building.
That means we each have a place. We each have a purpose. We each matter in the work God is doing. Some may be seen more than others, some may carry different responsibilities, and some may serve in quiet ways that few people notice — but every faithful stone has value in the hands of the Master Builder.
The danger comes when we begin quarreling with our fellow stones instead of trusting the Builder.
The body of Christ was never meant to be built on competition, criticism, or division. We are called to encourage one another, bear with one another, forgive one another, pray for one another, and work together for the glory of God.
Unity does not mean we are all the same. It means we are all submitted to the same Lord.
May our words build up instead of tear down.
May our hearts be quick to forgive.
May our service be marked by humility.
May our churches, homes, ministries, and communities reflect the love of Christ.
There is too much kingdom work to do for us to waste our strength fighting one another.
Let us be one — not because we agree on every small thing, but because Jesus is worthy, the Gospel is precious, and love is still the mark of His people.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
— John 13:35
Lord, help us to be builders, not breakers. Help us love well, forgive freely, and walk in unity for Your glory.
