Giving With Joy
2 Corinthians 9:7 (NKJV)
(So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a
cheerful giver.)
Generosity is an expression of gratitude. When we understand that all we have is a gift from God, giving becomes joyful, not burdensome. Paul teaches that God loves a cheerful giver because such giving reflects His own heart—a heart that gives freely and fully.
As we begin Week 2: Giving Freely, we’re reminded that cheerful giving flows from thankful hearts.
It’s not about the size of the gift but the sincerity of the giver. Gratitude transforms obligation into
opportunity and duty into delight.
The cheerful giver knows that generosity invites God’s abundance—not just financially, but spiritually.
