📅 BIBLE STUDY — February 20 | Leviticus Chapter 19 INTRODUCTION Leviticus chapter 19 is one of the most practical chapters in the book. God connects holiness not only to worship, but to everyday life—family relationships, business practices, justice, compassion, and love for others. This chapter shows that holiness is lived out in ordinary obedience. God repeatedly reminds Israel that His authority and character are the foundation for every command: I am the LORD. CONTEXT SUMMARY Leviticus 19 comes within the Holiness Code, where God instructs Israel how to live as a holy nation in the midst of unholy cultures. These laws combine moral, ceremonial, and social commands, showing that holiness touches every area of life. God’s holiness is the standard, and His people reflect Him through obedience, justice, mercy, and love for neighbor. VERSE-BY-VERSE TEACHING (NKJV) Leviticus 19:1 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Teaching: God is the direct source of these commands. In Exodus 34:6-7 (ESV), God reveals Himself to Moses: *“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty…”* God is compassionate and patient, rich in love and faithfulness, forgiving, yet holy and just. So what does this mean for you? When you feel burdened by mistakes, God’s mercy welcomes you. When life tests your patience, God’s faithfulness sustains you. When you struggle with sin, God’s justice invites you to repent and receive forgiveness. You can come to God with confidence, knowing He loves and judges with perfect balance.
