Gems from the Scriptures - Adoption
The next Gem from the Scriptures is the word Adoption. This word means so much more than our current meaning of adoption. When we hear is word we think of the process of legally adding an orphan into a family who is not biologically related. And while this is true in the sense that when we are saved we join the family of God, However, this is not the Biblical meaning of adoption. The adoption God is talking about is so much more.
Now, the Greek word translated adoption is huiothesia and comes from the words huios means son and thesia which means to place. So huiothesia means to place as a son.
And this placing as a son as used in our Bibles does not refers to the taking in and bringing up of other people's children. No, the Biblical process of adoption or the placing as adults sons, is described in Galatians 4:1-7, this "placing as sons" affected those who were already family members, but were considered children.
