Another headline. If true, another broken home. Another soul crying out. Denise Richards has accused her estranged husband of abuse and death threats. For most, it’s just gossip. For God, it’s grief.
Abuse is not entertainment. It is evil. Sin disguised as strength in the eyes of the abuser. Power distorted into poison. God hates hands that shed innocent blood, whether they do so with fists, threats, or manipulation (Proverbs 6:17).
You may not know Denise personally. But her tears are real. Her pain is not tabloid filler. Some of you can attest to the terror of domestic abuse. Listen, God hears the cries of the afflicted. “The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble” (Psalm 9:9).
Some hide behind fame. Others behind legal jargon. But no one hides from the eyes of God. “Nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light” (Luke 8:17).
If you’re an abuser: repent. Turn to Christ before the Judge of all does what no restraining order can stop.
To the wounded: your pain is not ignored. Your worth is not erased. You are not defined by what was done to you. Jesus binds up the brokenhearted. He sees. He heals. He saves. Tell someone.
This is not a Hollywood story. This is a human story. One playing out in neighborhoods, churches, and marriages around us.
Sin shatters. Christ restores.
The courtroom may determine justice. But only Christ can offer redemption.
Turn to Him today.
