HAVING THE RIGHT PRIORITIES WHEN WALKING WITH CHRIST

Walking with Christ requires a deliberate reordering of our lives. In a world saturated with distractions, ambition, and endless demands, keeping our focus centered on God is the ultimate challenge of discipleship. True spiritual maturity is not merely about avoiding sin; it is about cultivating an undivided heart that places God above all else.
The foundation of proper spiritual priority is explicitly commanded in Matthew 6:33: "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Jesus addresses the universal human anxiety regarding sustenance, success, and security. By commanding us to seek His kingdom first, Christ establishes that God’s rule, His values, and His glory must govern every decision. Everything else—career, relationships, and material needs—must occupy a secondary, dependent place.
To maintain this divine alignment, we must recognize the radical nature of following Jesus. In Luke 14:26, Christ uses striking language: "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple." This hyperbole does not negate the commandment to honor our families; rather, it illustrates that our love for Christ must be so supreme that all other earthly attachments look like indifference by comparison. Walking with Him means He holds the absolute highest allegiance of our hearts.
Furthermore, setting the right priorities demands that we consciously detach ourselves from the fleeting values of this age. The Apostle Paul underscores this eternal perspective in Colossians 3:2: "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." When our daily ambitions, time management, and emotional investments are anchored in eternity, temporal pressures lose their grip on us. We stop living for the applause of the world and begin living for the audience of One.
Ultimately, having the right priorities when walking with Christ transforms our daily existence. It simplifies our choices, eradicates crippling anxiety, and infuses our ordinary routines with extraordinary, eternal purpose. When Jesus is truly our first love, everything else falls perfectly into its proper place.

    CLOSING PRAYER…..
Lord, realign my heart today. Forgive me for the times I let worldly distractions and temporal pursuits take the place that belongs to You alone. Help me to seek Your kingdom first with unwavering devotion. May my love for Christ surpass every earthly attachment, anchoring my mind on things above. Grant me the grace to walk closely with You, trusting that as I put You first, You will faithfully provide for all my needs. Amen.

  • A WORD FOR YOU.
    (Insights For Life)

And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? Genesis 3:9 KJV

    ADAM, WHERE ARE YOU?
    What more could this mean?
As humans, we are shortsighted, narrow-minded and as a result, we see, think and assume what is not. Looking at this question above, it is evident that scripture is not just referring to God's presence, it is also REFERRING TO GOD'S PLAN. IT IS REFERRING TO GOD'S PURPOSE. So putting it in perspective, it's means: where are you in my plans? Where are you as regards my purpose for you? WHERE ARE YOU?

God always has a plan - for you. God always has a purpose for your life. But the challenge is, are you in alignment with God's plan and purpose for you? Many are in agreement with God, but they are not in alignment with Him. AGREEMENT IS CONSENT, ALIGNMENT IS CONTEXT. Some are busy doing good work but not God's work. Many are doing God's work but not in God's way. In fulfilling divine destiny, you need proper alignment.

GOD IS TOO BIG TO FIT INTO YOUR PLANS. You cannot plan and expect God to execute the plan. God can only bless, sustain and protect his plans and purposes. In marriage, relationship, in business, career, in ministry and in life generally, WHERE ARE YOU IN GOD'S PLAN AND PURPOSE? When a man is in alignment with God, he or she is in the centre of God's plan. He or she works, not just for God but with God. A man in alignment with God surrenders his will for God's will. God couldn't continue with Adam and Eve because they were no longer in alignment with His plans for them. The reason you failed in marriage, business and ministry could be because it wasn't God's plan from the onset. It's time to realign and align with God. Get back to him today. Be blessed, Stay refreshed!

  • Preparing for God’s Move

    Scripture

    Joshua 3:5 (NKJV)
And Joshua said to the people, Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.

Get Ready for What God Is About to Do

Joshua chapter 3 records one of the most powerful moments in Israel’s journey—the crossing of the Jordan River. This was not just a physical crossing; it was a spiritual transition. Israel was moving from wandering to possessing, from waiting to walking in promise. Before God parted the waters, Joshua gave a clear instruction: sanctify yourselves.

Sanctification meant setting themselves apart, preparing their hearts, and realigning their lives with God. Before the miracle came, God called for readiness. The wonder was God’s work alone, but preparation was the people’s responsibility. Obedience came before breakthrough.

The timing is important. Joshua said tomorrow the Lord will do wonders. God was already planning the miracle, but the people needed to prepare today. Their faith was demonstrated by obedience before they saw the outcome.

For believers today, this verse reminds us that God often prepares us before He moves us. Breakthrough is preceded by surrender. Miracles are often preceded by obedience. God still does wonders, but He calls His people to be spiritually ready—cleansed hearts, focused minds, and surrendered lives.

    Reflection Questions

    1. What might God be preparing me for in this season

    2. Are there areas of my life God is calling me to consecrate or realign

    3. Am I willing to prepare today for what God wants to do tomorrow

    Prayer

Lord God, prepare my heart for what You desire to do in my life. Help me to sanctify myself—to surrender, repent, and realign my life with Your will. I trust that You are at work, and I want to be ready for the wonders You will do. In Jesus name, Amen.

  • Isaiah 48:22 “There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”

Chapter 48 in the book of Isaiah is written to the Israelites during their exile in Babylon. In the chapter, God reminded them of their past rebellious acts, lamenting the fact that had they just heeded His warnings they’d have experienced peace like a river (Isaiah 48:17-18). It is not that He did not want peace for His people. He did, just as He desires peace for us today. But when we live a life of rebellion and sin, we separate ourselves from Him because He is holy and righteous.

Despite their rebellion and refusal to listen, He still loved them and still provided hope in the midst of their exile. He promised to redeem and deliver them. They would eventually leave Babylon and return to their homeland. They needed their hearts to be right with Him, though.

Verse 22 serves as a stark reminder that there are consequences for disobedience and rebellion. Though He promised deliverance of the faithful, He made certain that they understood that those who still refused to submit to His ways would not experience peace and wholeness. True shalom is tied to our obedience and the relationship we have with Him.

The wicked, those who refused to submit and persisted in their rebellious beliefs and practices, experienced the promised deliverance and returned to their homes, but they remained in restless spiritual turmoil and still faced judgement for their hearts. There is no peace for people who go against His will.

Genuine peace, the true peace that results in spiritual fruit, comes only to those who trust and follow God. A life that is separate from Him, a life of rebellion and sin, will always experience inward restlessness, corruption, and turmoil. Peace is not obtained by self-help techniques or books, it is not found in asking others to pray for you. It is only found in Him. We must repent, realign our hearts and behaviors with His Word, and then we can experience the reconciliation and renewal that comes from Christ alone.

When Prayer Becomes a Waste: The Idol in Your Heart Gives the Answer
    Text: Ezekiel 14:1-4

"Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me. And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? ...I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols."

Welcome back to the threshing floor of premium apostolic discipleship. Thus far in our journey, we have seen how unrepentant sin and sovereignly closed doors render intercession a waste of time. But today, we plunge into a dimension of spiritual warfare that is absolutely terrifying.

We are dealing with a scenario where prayer is not just a waste of time—it becomes a lethal trap of self-deception. When you approach the throne of grace while secretly harboring a supreme idol in your soul, heaven’s response changes from revelation to judgment.
If you have been praying for direction, seeking prophetic words, and fasting for clarity, yet you are hiding a secret ambition, a toxic relationship, or an unholy desire, brace yourself. You are about to discover the terrifying reality of the Divine Echo.

The Illusion of Proximity: Elders in the Prophetic Presence
Notice who came to sit before the prophet Ezekiel. These were not the pagan Babylonians; these were the elders of Israel. These were men with titles, ecclesiastical standing, and religious resumes. They knew how to dress, how to speak the vocabulary of Zion, and how to position themselves in the presence of a genuine prophet.

To the natural eye, this looked like a powerful prayer meeting. But God bypassed their physical posture and scanned their internal architecture. He said to Ezekiel, "These men have set up their idols in their heart."

The Discipleship Truth: Physical proximity to the prophetic does not equal spiritual alignment with the Divine. You can sit in the front row of a revival hub, listen to hours of apostolic teaching, and possess a prayer language that sounds like rushing water, while your heart is entirely colonized by Babylon. God does not look at where your body is sitting; He looks at what your heart is worshipping.

    The Architecture of Internal Idolatry
When we hear the word "idol," we imagine wooden statues or golden calves. But the Holy Ghost is dealing with a far more sophisticated form of treason: the idol of the heart.
An idol in the heart is anything that has bypassed the Lordship of Jesus Christ to sit on the throne of your affections and decision-making.
It is the relationship you have secretly decided to keep, regardless of what God says.

It is the ministry ambition fueled by a desperate need for public validation rather than divine obedience.
It is the love of money that dictates your career choices while you ask God to "bless your steps."
God calls this the "stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face."

When an idol is set before your face, you cannot see Jesus clearly. Every scripture you read, every sermon you hear, and every prayer you pray is filtered through the lens of that idol.

The Terrifying Judgment: Answered According to the Idol
Here is the most sobering reality in the entire text (verse 4): "I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols."

If you approach God to ask for His will, when you have already made up your mind to serve your idol, God will not fight you. He will step back and allow the idol to answer you. He will permit a strong delusion.

This is why people can fast and pray, and then confidently declare, "God told me to marry this unbeliever," or "God told me to split this church," or "God told me to engage in this unethical business." God did not tell them that. Their idol gave them the answer, and because they refused to lay the idol on the altar, God authenticated the delusion.

The Discipleship Truth: God will not share His throne with your ambition. If you use prayer as a manipulative tool to get God to endorse your fleshly desires, He will allow you to hear a "Yes" that will lead directly to your destruction.

This is exactly what happened to Balaam. He kept asking God to curse Israel because he wanted the money (the idol), and eventually, God told him to go—a "Yes" that led to a sword.

    The Call to Total Surrender
You cannot inquire of the Lord with a divided heart. Before you ask God for your next step, you must ask the Holy Ghost to search your temple.
What have you already decided you are going to do, regardless of what the Word says?

What is the secret obsession you refuse to surrender? It is time to smash the idols. You must come to a place in your discipleship where the absolute, unfiltered will of Jesus Christ is more important to you than your comfort, your reputation, and your deepest desires.
Stop asking for a prophetic word until you have restored prophetic purity to your heart.

    Prophetic Prayer of Activation
"Lord God of Israel, Searcher of the Reins and the Heart! I fall before the terrifying purity of Your throne today. I repent for treating Your presence casually while harboring secret idols in my soul. Holy Ghost, shine Your blinding light into the deep caverns of my heart! Expose every hidden ambition, every toxic attachment, and every stumbling block of iniquity that I have set before my face. I refuse the judgment of deception! I drag every idol of pride, lust, money, and self-will to the altar and I smash it by the blood of Jesus Christ! Purify my hearing, realign my desires, and let my heart be a throne for Christ alone. In the holy, unmatched name of Jesus Christ."

  • Life can become so busy that we lose sight of the things that truly matter.

Whenever you have the opportunity to pause, reflect, and evaluate your life with purpose, give that moment your full attention. Those moments of clarity are rare, but they often shape the direction of your future.

Don't let life's constant demands rob you of the chance to grow, realign, and make meaningful decisions. Some opportunities to reflect don't come often—make the most of them when they do.

  • July 9: Moving Forward

    #Devotional

    1 Samuel 16:1–23; James 4:1–17; Psalm 119:137–152

Moving on after a person, a hope, or a dream has died can be one of the most difficult challenges of life. It certainly was for Samuel. The prophet Samuel believed that God had chosen Saul as king, but Saul failed God and His people (1 Sam 15:10–35). Now God was ready to select a new king, but Samuel was dragging his feet. Moving forward meant readjusting his expectations about the future and about God’s work in general. God called him out on his hesitancy: “How long will you mourn about Saul? I have rejected him from king over Israel! Fill up your horn with oil and go” (1 Sam 16:1).

Samuel had to learn that things rarely play out the way we think they will. We inevitably end up on a different path than we planned—whether because of our own actions or because God’s route turns in a direction we never anticipated. The key is recognizing the changes when they occur and preparing ourselves for a new reality. Clinging to misguided expectations can drive us into the ground, effectively driving God’s work out of us.

Unlike Samuel, Saul’s problem was not that God sent him in a new direction. Saul created his own situation when he chose a different route—he disobeyed, and God responded by taking away from Saul what was his to steward but not to own: a kingdom. Saul’s story illustrates James’ statement, “From where are conflicts and from where are quarrels among you? Is it not from this, from your pleasures that wage war among your members?” (Jas 4:1). But Saul’s ultimate responsibility did not lessen Samuel’s pain.

All of us must be willing to realign our expectations. More important, we must seek to be aligned with God all along. We must move on from destructive behaviors and disobedience. Along the way, we must be mindful of the things God wants to create, and we must be ready to respond when God calls us to “Fill your horn with oil and go.”

What do you think God is asking you to move on from today? What is He asking you to move toward?

Along the way, we must be mindful of the things God wants to create, and we must be ready to respond when God calls us to “Fill your horn with oil and go.” What do you think God is asking you to move on from today? What is He asking you to move toward?

  • Summary of Desires as Battlefield

    Sermon Info
    - Speaker / Pastor: Executive Pastor Jacob Presson

    Scripture References
    - John 10:10 - used to show Jesus came so we might have life to the full; frames God’s desire for our flourishing.

    Central Message

God created us with desires and these desires are the battlefield of our spiritual life; the issue is not desire itself but when desires become disordered by sin and pull us away from God.

    Key Points

    1. Desires are normal and God-designed. Everyone has desires; God made us to long for relationship with Him.
    1. Desires can be good or bad, growing or shrinking. Our strongest desires move and direct our lives.
    1. The problem is disordered desire. When sin twists our desires they become issues and lead us into trouble.
    1. Three things God wants for us (reviewed from last week): abundant life (John 10:10 — purpose, peace, hope, freedom), to resource us (provision for needs and gifts), and relationship with us (friendship, hearing His voice, walking with Him).

    Notable Quotes
"Our desires are the battlefield of our spiritual life."
"He came that we might have life and have it to the full."

    Application
    - Examine your strongest desires and ask whether they are ordered toward God or away from Him.
    - Repent and realign any disordered desires by inviting God to reshape what you long for.
    - Seek God’s voice daily so your desires increasingly match His—practice listening and walking with Him.
    - Trust God for provision as you pursue Him; He resources those who continue to seek Him.

  • When the Wrong Ship Feels Right

    July 2,2026

Key Scriptures: Jonah 1:1–17; Proverbs 3:5–6; Hebrews 12:1–2; Romans 11:29

"But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord..." — Jonah 1:3

The ship to Tarshish appeared comfortable. It offered Jonah rest, anonymity, and the opportunity to avoid the assignment God had given him. Surrounded by other passengers, he could blend into the crowd without attracting attention. There was already a captain to steer the vessel, so Jonah had no responsibility to lead or speak. All he needed to do was sit quietly while the ship carried him farther away from God's purpose.

How deceptive comfort can be! What looked like a place of peace was actually a journey of disobedience. Jonah preferred the security of a familiar crowd to the uncertainty of obeying God. He would rather sleep in the wrong ship than proclaim God's message in Nineveh, fearing that God might show mercy to a people he believed deserved judgment.

Many believers today are on similar "ships." Perhaps God has called you into a ministry, an assignment, or a step of faith, yet you have chosen a place where your responsibility is minimized. You may be waiting for the approval of church leaders, pastors, or respected ministers before obeying what God has already spoken to you. Although accountability is important, it should never become an excuse for delaying obedience.

Some have received God's anointing but refuse to function unless they remain under someone else's leadership. Like Jonah, they find comfort in letting another person steer the ship while they remain passive. However, God's calling upon your life demands your personal obedience. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29), and He expects us to walk faithfully in them.

Do not mistake comfort for God's will. The path of obedience may be challenging, but it is always the safest place to be. The size of your assignment often determines the intensity of the battles you face. Jacob wrestled because he was destined to become the father of a nation through whom God's covenant would continue until the coming of the Messiah (Genesis 32:24–30). David endured years of rejection before ascending the throne. Jephthah overcame rejection before becoming Israel's deliverer. Great callings are often preceded by great tests.

As you journey through this year, will you realign yourself with the Lord? Will you leave every "Tarshish" and embrace the "Nineveh" He has assigned to you? God is still the One who directs our steps, and His purpose is always greater than our comfort.

    Prayer

Father, thank You for Your patience and mercy. Wherever I have chosen comfort over obedience, forgive me. Grant me the courage to leave every wrong ship and follow Your perfect will. If I have delayed or resisted Your call, give me another opportunity to fulfill Your purpose for my life. Lead me by Your Spirit, strengthen me through every trial, and let my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
