"GETTING 'UNSTUCK'!" ‘…He rewards those who earnestly seek him.’ Hebrews 11:6 NIV EVER NOTICE how icy winters bring multiple car pile-ups, with drivers in ditches waiting for tow trucks to rescue them? We each have different reactions. Some surrender to feelings of being powerless, others get frustrated and deepen the rut they’re in. But the wise think rationally of steps they can take. In life, getting stuck isn’t always an option; but staying stuck is! Good news: no matter how long you’ve been stuck, the right attitude can get you moving again. So here are some attitude changers: 1) Forgiveness. The guilt that follows failure can immobilise you long-term, but forgiveness liberates you—freeing up your energy and creativity. Forgiveness is two-dimensional: First, you must receive God’s forgiveness for your failures. Things you’ve done: betrayal, angry words, dishonesty, broken promises, etc. Things you haven’t done: love unexpressed, responsibility avoided, a child, parent or spouse neglected, the truth withheld. Heartfelt confession always brings God’s forgiveness! (1 John 1:9). Second, you must forgive those who’ve failed you—parents, siblings, children, bosses, spouses, friends, enemies, etc. Severing the chains to your past restores your options for the future. 2) Faith. When you’ve been stuck for a long time, forward momentum can seem impossible. You lack direction, energy and confidence. What to do? Getting traction requires a willingness to act in spite of your feelings. God calls this ‘faith,’ and He always responds to it! ‘He rewards those who earnestly seek him.’ When you act like you believe, God will reward your faith—and the feeling of faith will follow your action! [14/10, 7:26 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* THURSDAY, 15TH OCTOBER, 2026. *LESSONS FROM THE BAPTISM OF JESUS* *TEXT:* MARK 1:9-15 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. *Timeless Truth:*_"And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him"_ (Matthew 3:15). *INTRODUCTION* The Scriptures expressly commands believers to follow the footsteps of Jesus. It is not an advice, but a commandment that must be diligently followed. Jesus Himself was very careful and diligent in ensuring that He lived a blameless and perfect life. None can take the commandment of God to live like Christ lightly and be able to please God, talk less of going to heaven at last. The baptism of Jesus is rich with many lessons we must learn as heaven- bound citizens. *1. True Humility* a. John at this time had lifted up Jesus very highly in the presence of the multitude. In fact, he lifted up Jesus as someone with a supernatural assignment that he could not rival.*"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear"*. It was not flattering, but the truth. *"He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire"*. This was an experience not known by any man since the world was created and yet it is Jesus that will make it real. In spite of these great accolades, Jesus did not allow that to make Him feel proud, rather Jesus decided to come low to be baptized by John the Baptist. Didn't Jesus think that submitting to John's baptism would make people look at Him as a sinner that needed salvation like others? How would people give Him, His due respect when He started preaching that He is the Saviour? Should He who is the Creator that gave the Law subject Himself to obey that law? Could a Saviour bow down to baptism like a sinner? What about self respect? It was natural for a human being to think this way, but Jesus all the same humbled Himself, *"and was baptized of John in Jordan"*. The first refusal of John to baptize Jesus on the ground that Jesus was greater was a sort of test and temptation for Jesus. When facing a test from God, in most cases, you will not be told that it is a test from God. b. True humility is only interested in pleasing God and not men. The humble man cares less about what the people think about him, but cares more about what is the will and way of God that must be followed. Humility denies itself of the opinion and accolades of perverted minds, self respect and self exaltation. He is willing to do anything, like seek reconciliation and forgiveness from others, no matter how humiliating, *"in order to fulfil all righteousness"*. Jesus did not take the pain to explain how great He was and explain to the public that He was only humbling Himself. *Question* Do you have the humility that will put the Word, way and the will of God above your ego at all times? *2. The Trinity's Harmony* The Trinity were fully involved in this divine project Jesus came to the earth to fulfil. We have God the Son at the Jordan river and then the God, the Holy Spirit descending on Jesus and after that we heard the voice of God the Father coming from heaven. *"He saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him"*. Then came the voice of God from heaven: *"Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased"*. Each Person in the Trinity is self dependent and self sustained in everything and all are co-equal and co-eternal. Yet, there is perfect unity, no form of dissent, disagreement among them. They have the same goal, plan and action. What a great example of perfect unity among brethren. This perfect unity is possible because of their perfectly humble and selfless nature. Whenever unity is hard, difficult or seems impossible, godless nature is at work in some shape or form and this should not be among the children of God. *Question* Do you have the grace to live happily and humbly with each other as a family or children of God? *3. Temptation of the Holy* Can a holy person be tempted? What is the difference between the temptation of the Holy and the carnal? Jesus was holy and was tempted in all points, and yet without sin. *"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin"* (Hebrews 4:15). Tempted in all points? What are those points? Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life (Matthew 4 compared with 1 John 2:15-17). All who will make heaven will be tempted at all these points and overcome all. For the holy or sanctified, temptations come from the outside, from Satan and victory is easy for such. For the unsanctified, they first have the problem or carnality inside and the tempter is attracted by the carnality within and makes victory to be more difficult though possible. *"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed."* (James 1:14). If someone, for example, has some traces of immoral lust in him, the lust within will attract the temptation from without and threaten the soul with infinite loss. For someone who is sanctified and there is no lust within, Satan will still test from without, but Satan will not find it easy as there is nothing inside the sanctified drawing Satan and his temptation. Therefore, a person with a purified heart finds it easier to resist sin and all its evils. *Question* Is your heart purged from inward impurities? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, awaken my desire and hunger to be more like You 🙏. 2.Do a deeper work of humility in me and remove every trace of pride and self 🙏. 3.Purify my heart from all carnality within and help me never to fall into temptation 🙏. 4.Lord, work in the pew and the pulpit that everybody will prioritize Christlikeness🙏. *HYMN:* More like the Master *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* REVELATION 7-8. This was the picture Mark captured at the baptism of Jesus Christ. Jesus came alone to John to fulfil all righteousness symbolised by His baptism. The Messiah emerged from the baptismal river in the fullness of heavenly glory. The united force of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit stands together to ensure nothing stops the purpose of heaven for all men. All of heaven gathered to witness the beginning of a process that consummated the redemption of mankind. The heavens - _representing God_ - opened up, followed by the Holy Spirit; descended upon the Son of God, Jesus. The three in one (trinity) consented to Jesus' ministry showing that He is not just another prophet come from God, but _The Prophet promised by God._ He's given a common, unremarkable name, Jesus - the Saviour. He hailed from an unrecognised, and a despised village, Nazareth. His region of Galilee was an unspiritual one, unlike the popular Bible belts where ancient rabbis came from. Early tradition explicitly disqualifies the River Jordan for any kind of purification, yet God chose this rejected place to showcase His only begotten Son.* *If you already see yourself living in this picture and in the circumstances surrounding the Messiah, it's because He was sent for you. He came for the sinful, though He Himself was without sin. He's a man of sorrow, and lowly esteemed; and acquainted with our grief and shame. Yet it pleased the Father to hurt Him that we may be healed. God disrobed Him of every honour so that He might be a merciful Saviour.* *Jesus came for the whole church, not just a denomination. He's the Saviour of the whole body, not just a part of it. He's the Lord of all, not just a few. His ministry covers nations, ethnic groups and all mankind, worldwide, in every nation, tribe and tongue. He came to save, not just a select few but as many as are ordained to life eternal by their personal choice. This is why He's always ready to receive all repentant souls into His kingdom. TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS. SERMON TOPIC: GOD IN A WORLD OF UNCERTAINTY. Theme: Trusting the Unchanging God in an Ever-Changing World. Key Scripture: Hebrews 13:8 Supporting Scriptures: Psalm 46:1–3; Proverbs 3:5–6; Isaiah 41:10; Matthew 6:25–34. 1. WHEN TOMORROW IS UNCERTAIN, GOD IS STILL FAITHFUL! Beloved, welcome to a world where many things are uncertain! People are uncertain about their future, finances, health, marriages, children, jobs, businesses, and even their spiritual lives. Someone may go to bed with a plan and wake up to an unexpected problem. A family may be celebrating today and facing a serious challenge tomorrow. We live in a world where human promises can fail, economic conditions can change, relationships can disappoint, and opportunities can disappear. Sometimes, even when we pray, we do not immediately understand what God is doing. You may be asking: - Will my prayers ever be answered? - Will my financial situation improve? - Will my children fulfil their destinies? - Will I overcome this challenge? - What will happen to my family tomorrow? - Can I still trust God when I do not understand my circumstances? These are real questions that many Christians face. But I have come to remind you of a powerful truth: Even when life is uncertain, God remains faithful! The world may change, but God does not change. Your circumstances may change, but God's character remains the same. People may disappoint you, but God remains worthy of your trust. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can know the God who holds your tomorrow. Hebrews 13:8 declares: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” The Jesus who demonstrated His power yesterday has not lost His power today. The God who sustained His people in the past remains faithful today. However, trusting God does not mean that Christians will never experience difficulties. It means that difficulties do not have to destroy our faith. Faith is not knowing every detail of tomorrow. Faith is trusting God even when we cannot see the complete picture. Uncertainty about your circumstances does not mean uncertainty about God's faithfulness! Today, we shall examine five important truths about God in a world of uncertainty. 2. KEY SCRIPTURES AND THEIR MEANINGS. A. Hebrews 13:8 — God Does Not Change. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” The world is constantly changing. Technology, governments, economic conditions, relationships, and human circumstances change. But Jesus Christ remains the same in His divine nature, character, and faithfulness. This does not mean that our circumstances will never change or that God must answer every prayer according to our preferred timetable. It means that we can trust His character even when we do not understand His methods. Spiritual lesson: Build your confidence on God's character, not merely on favourable circumstances. B. Psalm 46:1 — God Is Our Refuge “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” The Bible does not promise that God's people will never experience trouble. Instead, it assures us that God is our refuge and strength when trouble comes. A refuge provides protection. Strength enables us to endure. Help provides assistance when our own resources are insufficient. Even when the things people consider stable begin to collapse, we can continue trusting God. Spiritual lesson: Your security is not determined only by what surrounds you, but also by the God in whom you place your trust. C. Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust God Beyond Your Understanding “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Human understanding is limited. We see only part of the picture, while God sees the whole picture. We cannot predict every consequence of tomorrow's decisions. Therefore, we must trust God, seek His wisdom, obey His Word, and remain open to His direction. This does not mean abandoning planning or responsible decision-making. It means submitting our plans to God's wisdom. Spiritual lesson: When you cannot understand everything, obey what God has clearly revealed in His Word. D. Isaiah 41:10 — Do Not Be Afraid. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.” God's encouragement to His people begins with His presence. He does not tell us to be courageous because we are naturally strong. He reminds us that He is with us. You may feel weak, but weakness does not mean you are beyond God's help. You may feel afraid, but fear does not have to control your decisions. Spiritual lesson: Courage is not the absence of fear; it is the decision to keep trusting God despite fear. E. Matthew 6:34 — Do Not Be Consumed by Tomorrow. Jesus teaches His followers not to become consumed by anxiety about the future. He is not commanding us to be careless or refuse to plan. He is warning us against allowing tomorrow's possible problems to rob us of today's peace and obedience. Many people suffer twice: first through the actual problem, and then through endless fear about what might happen. Spiritual lesson: Do what faithfulness requires today, and entrust tomorrow's uncertainties to God. 3. FIVE POWERFUL TRUTHS ABOUT GOD IN A WORLD OF UNCERTAINTY. POINT ONE: GOD REMAINS SOVEREIGN WHEN LIFE BECOMES UNPREDICTABLE. Scripture: Daniel 2:21 “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings.” One of the greatest challenges of uncertainty is the feeling that we have lost control. We want to know what will happen, when it will happen, and how it will happen. We want our plans to work exactly as expected. But life does not always follow our schedules. There are seasons when we understand what is happening and seasons when we must walk forward without knowing every detail. In such moments, we must remember that God is not confused by the changes that confuse us. God remains sovereign over His creation. This does not mean that everything people do is good or that every painful event should be attributed directly to God. People make sinful choices, injustice exists, and human beings experience suffering. Yet these realities do not make God unworthy of trust. Biblical Example: Joseph Read Genesis 37–50. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Imagine what he might have thought during those difficult years. God had given him dreams concerning his future, but his immediate circumstances appeared to contradict those dreams. He went from being a beloved son to a slave and from a slave to a prisoner. Yet God was at work throughout his story. Eventually, Joseph became a ruler in Egypt and helped preserve many lives during a severe famine. In Genesis 50:20, Joseph told his brothers: “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” Joseph did not call his brothers' evil actions good. He recognised that God had brought good out of circumstances intended to harm him. Lessons from Joseph's Life 1. A painful season does not mean your life has lost its purpose. 2. Other people's wrongdoing does not have to determine your entire future. 3. God's work in your life may be unfolding in ways you cannot yet see. 4. Waiting requires patience, wisdom, and continued faithfulness. 5. When opportunities come, prepare yourself to serve responsibly. Beloved, do not conclude that your story is over simply because your present chapter is painful. You may not understand the chapter you are reading, but continue trusting the God who knows the end from the beginning. Declaration: Lord, I do not understand everything happening around me, but I choose to trust Your wisdom and remain faithful to Your Word. POINT TWO: GOD'S PRESENCE IS GREATER THAN YOUR FEAR Scripture: Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” David does not say, "If I never enter a valley." He says, "Though I walk through the valley." The Christian life is not a promise of uninterrupted comfort. There may be valleys of grief, disappointment, financial pressure, family challenges, sickness, persecution, and unanswered questions. But David gives us the reason he can continue walking: “For thou art with me.” The presence of God changes how we face the valley. It does not mean that the valley is imaginary or that our pain is insignificant. It means that pain does not have to become the only reality we recognise. Three Things to Remember When Fear Comes 1. Fear is a feeling, not a final authority. You may feel afraid, but you do not have to let fear make every decision for you. A person who fears failure may refuse to start a worthwhile business. A student who fears examination failure may stop studying. A minister who fears criticism may stop preaching biblical truth. Faith calls us to act wisely even when our emotions are unsettled. 2. God's presence is not measured by the absence of problems. Some believers mistakenly assume that if God is with them, everything should go smoothly. But Joseph experienced prison. Daniel faced lions. The apostles endured persecution. The presence of a storm does not automatically mean the absence of God. 3. You can seek help while trusting God. If you face financial difficulties, seek sound advice and make a responsible plan. If you are grieving, speak with trusted people who can support you. If you are ill, seek appropriate medical care while continuing to pray. Seeking appropriate help does not mean your faith has failed. Biblical Example: Jesus Calms the Storm Read Mark 4:35–41. Jesus and His disciples were crossing the sea when a great storm arose. The disciples became afraid, even though Jesus was with them in the boat. They woke Him and questioned whether He cared that they were perishing. Jesus rebuked the wind and commanded the sea to be still. The story reminds us that the disciples' understanding of Jesus was being tested by a situation they could not control. Sometimes, we know the Scriptures, but a sudden storm reveals how deeply we trust the Lord. Not every storm ends immediately after we pray. Some trials continue for a season, and some prayers are answered differently from what we expect. Nevertheless, Jesus remains worthy of our trust. Declaration: Lord Jesus, strengthen my heart. Help me to face uncertainty with courage, wisdom, and confidence in Your presence. POINT THREE: FAITH DOES NOT REQUIRE YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:7 “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” One of the greatest struggles in an uncertain world is our desire for complete information before obeying God. We want to know every detail before taking the first step. We want guarantees before making sacrifices. We want to see the final result before beginning the journey. But biblical faith does not mean having complete information about the future. It means trusting God enough to obey what He has revealed. Biblical Example: Abraham Read Genesis 12:1–4. God called Abraham to leave his country, his relatives, and his father's house for a land God would show him. Abraham had to respond to God's call without possessing a complete picture of everything ahead. His journey involved obedience, waiting, challenges, and the development of his faith. Hebrews 11:8 explains that Abraham obeyed by faith, going out without knowing fully where he was going. Abraham's story teaches us that faith often begins with obedience before we understand the whole journey. What Does This Mean for Us Today? Perhaps you need to apologise to someone you have offended. Perhaps you need to stop a destructive habit. Perhaps you have delayed a responsibility because you are afraid of the outcome. Perhaps you know what Scripture teaches about honesty, forgiveness, generosity, and love, but you are waiting for circumstances to become easier before obeying. Faith calls us to take the next right step. However, faith must not be confused with recklessness. Not every personal desire is a divine instruction. Not every opportunity is God's approval. Not every dream is a prophecy. We must test our decisions against Scripture, seek godly counsel, consider the facts, and use sound judgment. Four Ways to Walk by Faith 1. Obey God's Word. You do not need a special revelation to know that you should tell the truth, forgive others, and love your neighbour. 2. Pray for wisdom. James 1:5 encourages us to ask God for wisdom. 3. Take responsible steps. Faith does not replace preparation. 4. Leave the outcome to God. Do your part faithfully, but remember that you cannot control every result. You can prepare for an interview, but you cannot control every decision made by the employer. You can nurture your children, but you cannot make every decision for them. You can preach the truth, but you cannot force every listener to accept it. Be faithful in what God has entrusted to you and leave what you cannot control in His hands. Declaration: Father, help me obey Your Word, make wise decisions, and trust You with the results I cannot control. POINT FOUR: GOD CALLS US TO WISDOM, NOT PASSIVITY. Scripture: Proverbs 21:5 “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.” Some people misunderstand faith. They believe that because God is able to provide, they do not need to plan. They believe that because God can open doors, they do not need to develop their skills. They believe that because God answers prayer, they do not need to work diligently. But biblical faith and responsible action belong together. Trusting God does not mean refusing to do what wisdom requires. Biblical Example: Joseph's Preparation for Famine Read Genesis 41:25–36. Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams and explained that Egypt would experience seven years of abundance followed by seven years of severe famine. Joseph did not merely announce the coming crisis. He proposed a practical plan. During the years of abundance, a portion of the harvest would be collected and stored for the coming years of scarcity. Pharaoh recognised the wisdom of the proposal and placed Joseph in a position of responsibility. Joseph's story demonstrates that preparation can be an expression of wisdom rather than unbelief. How Should Christians Respond to Uncertainty? 1. Develop your skills. Continue learning, improving your abilities, and preparing for new opportunities. 2. Manage your resources wisely. Where possible, create a budget, avoid unnecessary debt, build savings, and distinguish between essential needs and unnecessary expenses. 3. Plan for the future. Families should discuss their responsibilities. Business owners should examine risks. Ministries should manage their resources transparently. 4. Avoid decisions driven by panic. Fear can push people into fraudulent investments, reckless borrowing, and harmful choices. Do not let uncertainty force you into decisions you would reject if you were thinking calmly. 5. Seek wise counsel. Proverbs 15:22 teaches that plans are strengthened through wise counsel. 6. Continue working diligently. Colossians 3:23 encourages believers to work heartily as unto the Lord. Your work can become an expression of worship when it is performed with integrity, diligence, and a desire to serve others. A Word to Young Christians Do not spend your entire youth waiting for a miracle while neglecting opportunities to learn, serve, and grow. Pray, but also study. Believe God, but also develop your skills. Expect His help, but also practise discipline. A Word to Mature Christians Do not assume that because you have walked with God for many years, you no longer need to prepare for changing circumstances. Continue learning, planning, seeking wisdom, and mentoring others. Declaration: Lord, give me the wisdom to prepare, the discipline to act, and the faith to trust You in every season. POINT FIVE: OUR HOPE IS GREATER THAN OUR PRESENT CIRCUMSTANCES. Scripture: Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” This verse is often quoted during difficult seasons, but we must understand it carefully. Paul is not saying that every event is good in itself. Betrayal is not good. Injustice is not good. Abuse is not good. Grief is painful. Rather, Paul teaches that God is able to work through the circumstances of His people to accomplish His purposes. The surrounding passage speaks of suffering, the help of the Holy Spirit, God's purposes, and the assurance of His love. The promise is not that Christians will never suffer. It is that suffering cannot separate those who belong to Christ from the love of God. Biblical Example: Paul and Silas in Prison Read Acts 16:16–34. Paul and Silas were beaten and imprisoned after Paul cast a spirit out of a slave girl. Their imprisonment was painful. They were confined under difficult conditions. Yet at midnight, they prayed and sang praises to God. Their worship did not deny their pain. It demonstrated that their faith was not entirely dependent on their circumstances. An earthquake followed, the prison doors opened, and the jailer eventually heard the message of salvation. God used a difficult situation to create an unexpected opportunity for ministry. However, we must not conclude that every prison door will open physically or that every difficulty will end in a dramatic miracle. Sometimes God delivers us from a situation. At other times, He sustains us through it. Ultimately, our hope rests in His faithfulness and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Three Things Uncertainty Cannot Take Away from a Believer 1. Your opportunity to trust God. Even when you cannot immediately change a circumstance, you can choose how you respond. 2. Your responsibility to love others. You can encourage someone, help a neighbour, pray for the suffering, and serve your community. 3. Your hope in Christ. Your hope is not limited to financial success, physical comfort, or human approval. It rests in Jesus Christ, who has conquered sin and death. Declaration: My circumstances may be uncertain, but my hope in Jesus Christ remains firm. I will continue to trust, serve, and obey Him. 4. PRACTICAL CASE STUDY: A FAMILY FACING UNCERTAINTY. Consider a family facing an unexpected financial crisis. The husband loses his job. His wife's business experiences declining sales. Their children need school fees, household expenses continue to rise, and their savings begin to run low. The husband becomes discouraged and wonders whether God has forgotten him. His wife is also worried, but she encourages the family to pray together and discuss their situation honestly. Instead of hiding the problem, they take practical steps. First, they review their expenses and reduce unnecessary spending. Second, the husband updates his CV, contacts professional connections, and applies for suitable jobs. Third, the wife reviews her business costs and asks customers what products or services they need. Fourth, they seek wise counsel and accept appropriate support from trusted people. Finally, they continue praying together, encouraging their children, and treating one another with patience. The situation does not change overnight. They experience disappointments and revise some of their plans. Nevertheless, they refuse to allow financial difficulties to destroy their relationships or their trust in God. Over time, the husband finds temporary work while continuing to seek a more stable opportunity. The wife's business also begins to improve after she adjusts her approach. Their testimony is not that prayer guarantees immediate financial recovery. Rather, they discover that faith can sustain them while they take responsible steps through a difficult season. Lessons from This Case Study. 1. Uncertainty should lead us to prayer, not panic. 2. Faith should encourage responsible action. 3. Families should communicate honestly. 4. Wise counsel and appropriate support are valuable. 5. Delayed improvement does not mean every effort is useless. 6. Our worth before God is not determined by our financial position. Never allow a difficult season to convince you that your life has no value. Your circumstances may describe what you are facing, but they do not define your entire identity in Christ. 5. DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS. Insight One: Uncertainty Reveals Where We Have Placed Our Trust When life is comfortable, it can be easy to say, "I trust God." But when our plans collapse, we discover whether our confidence rests in God or merely in favourable circumstances. If our peace disappears whenever money becomes scarce, we may need to examine how much security we have placed in wealth. If our faith collapses whenever people disappoint us, we may need to examine whether we have made human approval too important. Uncertainty can expose unhealthy foundations and invite us to grow spiritually. Insight Two: Waiting Is Not the Same as Abandonment. Habakkuk 2:3 teaches God's people to wait for the appointed time. However, we must not assume that every personal desire will eventually be fulfilled exactly as imagined. The larger biblical lesson is that God's purposes are not always accomplished according to our preferred timetable. While waiting, continue praying, obeying God's Word, seeking wise counsel, and taking appropriate action. Do not turn waiting into an excuse for idleness, and do not interpret delay as proof that God has rejected you. Insight.Three: God's Faithfulness Is Not Measured Only by Material Blessings Some Christians mistakenly believe that a person who is financially prosperous must be enjoying God's favour, while a person experiencing hardship must have failed spiritually. Scripture does not support this simplistic conclusion. Faithful people can experience poverty, sickness, persecution, grief, and loss. Material provision is important, and we should pray for our needs. But the deepest measure of our relationship with God is not the size of our bank account. Our hope rests in Christ, His grace, His truth, and His promise of eternal life. Insight Four: Faith and Honest Questions Can Coexist The Bible contains the prayers of people who struggled to understand their circumstances. The psalmists sometimes cried out in anguish. Habakkuk questioned the injustice he saw. Job wrestled with profound suffering. You can honestly tell God that you are tired, afraid, or confused. Bring your questions to Him while continuing to seek truth in His Word. Insight Five: Our Peace Must Be Rooted in Christ Philippians 4:6–7 teaches believers to bring their requests to God through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving. This does not mean Christians will never experience anxiety or need additional support. It means prayer, gratitude, and trust in Christ can help us face uncertainty without allowing it to govern every part of our lives. We learn to distinguish between what we can influence and what we cannot control. We become more faithful in our responsibilities and less consumed by imagined disasters. 6. TEN PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS. 1. Strengthen Your Relationship with God Set aside time for prayer, Bible reading, worship, and reflection. Do not wait until a crisis arrives before seeking God. 2. Identify What You Can Control Write down what is troubling you. Separate what you can influence from what you cannot control. Concentrate on responsible action rather than exhausting yourself over matters beyond your control. 3. Replace Fear with Scripture-Based Thinking When fear says, "I cannot survive this challenge," remember Psalm 46:1. When fear says, "I must understand everything before I move," remember Proverbs 3:5–6. Use Scripture to remind yourself of God's truth while addressing your problems wisely. 4. Make a Practical Plan If the uncertainty concerns finances, examine your income, expenses, debts, and opportunities. If it concerns your career, identify the skills you need to improve. If it concerns your family, communicate openly and seek appropriate support. 5. Avoid Panic Decisions Be cautious about unrealistic financial promises, pressure to borrow money, fraudulent schemes, and people who use spiritual language to manipulate you. Verify information and seek trustworthy advice. 6. Maintain Healthy Relationships Do not allow stress to turn your home into a place of constant conflict. Speak honestly, listen carefully, apologise when necessary, and seek reconciliation where it is safe and appropriate. I'm 7. Continue Serving Others Do not become so consumed by uncertainty that you forget the needs of others. Encourage someone, visit a person who is grieving, help a neighbour, or pray for someone in need. 8. Guard Your Mind Stay informed, but set reasonable boundaries around alarming news, rumours, comparisons, and negative predictions. Make time for rest, exercise, meaningful relationships, and activities that support your well-being. 9. Seek Help When Necessary Speak with a mature Christian, a trustworthy pastor, a qualified professional, or another appropriate source of support. Seeking help does not mean you lack faith. 10. Practise Daily Gratitude Every day, identify three things for which you can thank God. Gratitude does not deny hardship. It prevents hardship from becoming the only thing you can see. 7. QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION. Take time to answer these questions honestly before God. 1. What area of my life currently feels most uncertain? 2. Have I allowed fear of tomorrow to rob me of peace today? 3. Is my trust in God based on His character or mainly on the blessings I expect? 4. When my plans fail, do I turn to prayer and wisdom or become discouraged? 5. Am I waiting on God while neglecting practical responsibilities? 6. Is there a decision I have delayed because I am afraid of the outcome? 7. Have I confused a difficult season with the belief that God has abandoned me? 8. Do I need forgiveness, wise counsel, professional assistance, or reconciliation? 9. What practical step can I take this week to address my uncertainty? 10. How can I encourage another person who is struggling with fear about the future? Personal Commitment Complete this sentence: "Although I cannot control everything about my future, with God's help, I will..." Write down your answer and identify one practical action you will take within the next 24 hours. 8. POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS. Prayer 1: For Faith in Uncertain Times Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6 Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, strengthen my faith in this season of uncertainty. When I cannot understand what is happening around me, help me to trust Your wisdom. Deliver me from depending only on my own understanding. Teach me to seek Your direction, obey Your Word, and make decisions that honour You. In Jesus' name, Amen. Prayer 2: Against Fear and Anxiety Scripture: Isaiah 41:10 Father, I bring every fear concerning my future before You. Give me courage to face my responsibilities and wisdom to distinguish between genuine risks and exaggerated fears. Help me to receive appropriate support when I need it. Let Your truth guide my thoughts, and teach me to walk through difficult seasons without surrendering to despair. In Jesus' name, Amen. Prayer 3: For Wisdom and Direction Scripture: James 1:5 Lord, I ask You for wisdom concerning my family, career, finances, relationships, ministry, and future. Where I lack understanding, teach me. Where I have made mistakes, correct me. Where I need to change direction, give me humility. Protect me from decisions driven by greed, impatience, pride, or fear. In Jesus' name, Amen. Prayer 4: For Strength During Difficult Seasons Scripture: Psalm 46:1 Father, be my refuge and strength in every season of trouble. When I feel weak, sustain me. When disappointment comes, help me to rise again. When I experience loss, comfort my heart. Give me grace to endure difficulties without abandoning my faith or compromising my Christian values. In Jesus' name, Amen. Prayer 5: For Provision and Responsible Stewardship Scripture: Matthew 6:31–33 Father, You know my needs before I bring them before You. When people disappoint me, help me remain rooted in Your truth. When I face questions I cannot answer, grant me grace to continue trusting You. I will not allow uncertainty to destroy my trust in God. 2. Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. 3. By God's grace, I will face my challenges with faith, wisdom, and courage. 4. I will seek God's direction rather than make decisions controlled by fear. 5. I will not allow tomorrow's worries to rob me of today's responsibilities. 6. I will continue growing in wisdom, discipline, patience, and spiritual maturity. 7. I will seek appropriate help when necessary and refuse to suffer in silence when support is available. 8. I will remain faithful to God's Word even when circumstances are unfavourable. 9. My present difficulties do not determine the ultimate outcome of my life in Christ. 10. My hope is in Jesus Christ, whose love and faithfulness remain sure. 10. CONCLUSION: THE WORLD MAY BE UNCERTAIN, BUT GOD IS FAITHFUL! Beloved, uncertainty is part of life in a changing world. You may not know what the economy will look like next year. You may not know when a particular opportunity will come. You may not know how every family challenge will be resolved. You may not understand why certain prayers appear to remain unanswered. But you do not have to allow uncertainty to become the foundation of your life. You can build your life on the truth of God's Word. You can pray when you are afraid. You can seek wisdom when you are confused. You can work diligently when opportunities are limited. You can receive support when you are overwhelmed. You can continue loving people when life disappoints you. And you can remain hopeful because Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death. Let us return to Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” This is our confidence. Not that we will always understand everything. Not that every prayer will be answered according to our preferred timetable. Not that every difficulty will disappear immediately. But that God remains worthy of our trust, His Word remains true, and our hope in Christ is secure. Perhaps you are passing through a difficult season today. Perhaps you have prayed repeatedly about a matter without seeing the outcome you desire. Perhaps you are worried about your children, marriage, finances, ministry, or future. Do not allow uncertainty to push you away from God. Draw near to Him. Return to His Word. Seek His wisdom. Take the next faithful step. Remember that your relationship with God is more important than your ability to predict tomorrow. You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can entrust tomorrow to the God who has called you to walk with Him today. A FINAL CHALLENGE. Before you leave this message, ask yourself: 1. What fear do I need to surrender to God? 2. What practical step must I take instead of merely worrying? 3. What truth from God's Word will I hold on to during this season? Do not merely listen to this sermon. Put its message into practice. Pray, plan, work, love, obey, and trust God. When uncertainty comes again, remember: THE WORLD MAY CHANGE, YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES MAY CHANGE, AND YOUR PLANS MAY CHANGE—BUT JESUS CHRIST REMAINS THE SAME! 𝐏𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 ✍️ “𝘐𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘳, 𝘞𝘦 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘳.” Some of us have become experts at hiding what hurts. We smile when we are struggling, say “𝘐’𝘮 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦” when we are not, and carry burdens nobody knows exist. But God never asked us to pretend before Him. He already knows what is inside us. The question is not whether God knows our pain, but whether we will trust Him enough to pour out our hearts before Him. David wrote 🕮 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟔𝟐 amid Absalom’s violent betrayal. Yet he repeatedly declared that his expectation was from God (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟔𝟐:𝟓). Then he called God’s people to “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟔𝟐:𝟖). To “𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘵” implies an uncontained flood. God does not demand sanitized prayers; He invites our raw, unfiltered anguish. We do not have to hide our fears, grief, confusion, or weakness from God. Think of a vessel filled beyond its capacity. Eventually, what is inside must be poured out. God does not require us to organize every emotion before coming to Him. Bring the fear, questions, tears, and burden, right before God, our refuge. Scripture invites honest prayer. Hannah poured out her soul before the LORD (𝟏 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝟏:𝟏𝟓). David cried, “𝘐 𝘱𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮; 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘸 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘮𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟏𝟒𝟐:𝟐). Peter commands us to cast “𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘮; 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶” (𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟓:𝟕). We do not bring our burdens to inform God, but to depend upon Him. But pouring out our hearts is not merely emotional release. 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟔𝟐:𝟖 begins with “𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴” and ends with “𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘨𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴.” “𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟓𝟓:𝟐𝟐). Don't act like a spiritual actor, wearing a mask of victory while quietly dying inside the dressing room. An unveiled wound will worsen in the dark; an unfiltered heart invites God's healing hand. The same Saviour who poured out His heart in Gethsemane poured out His blood on Calvary. What have you been carrying that you have never honestly brought before God? You cannot experience the refuge of God while insisting on carrying everything alone. You do not need Christ just to help you appear strong; you need Him to receive your whole weary heart. Tuesday, 13th October, 2026 TITLE: "GOD TURNS IT FOR GOOD: TRUST HIS PURPOSE IN EVERY SEASON" ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S) Romans 8:28 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Genesis 50:20 (KJV) “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” QUOTE TO REFLECT ON What others mean for evil, God can turn into good according to His purpose. DAY'S REFLECTION “All things work together for good” does not mean everything that happens is good. It means God can work through both pleasant and painful experiences to accomplish His purpose. “To them that love God” reminds us that our relationship with God is central to this promise. We may not understand every situation, but we can trust His wisdom and faithfulness. Joseph experienced betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment. His brothers intended to harm him, but God used his circumstances to preserve many lives. What appeared to be a painful detour became part of God's greater plan. In life, disappointment, rejection, failure, and delay may leave us wondering why. Yet, like Joseph, we must not allow painful experiences to destroy our faith or make us bitter. God can bring wisdom out of hardship, strength out of suffering, and new opportunities out of closed doors. Remember: You may not understand what God is doing today, but you can trust Him to work according to His purpose. Keep believing, remain faithful, and leave room for God to transform your story. TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS SERMON.TOPICS: THE CHRISTIANS AND POLITICS PART 2 Biblical Principles for Political Participation, Leadership, and National Transformation Key Scripture: Matthew 5:13–14 “Ye are the salt of the earth… Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” — KJV POINT FOUR: CHRISTIANS MUST STAND FOR JUSTICE, TRUTH, AND THE DIGNITY OF EVERY PERSON Key Scripture: Micah 6:8 “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” — KJV Biblical explanation Micah 6:8 summarises three essential expectations of God: 1. Do justice. 2. Love mercy. 3. Walk humbly with God. These principles apply to our personal lives, churches, communities, and public institutions. Politics provides opportunities to make decisions that affect the lives of millions of people. Christians should therefore care about whether public policies and leadership practices promote justice, protect human dignity, and serve the common good. Justice means more than punishing criminals. It also includes fair treatment, impartial judgment, protection from abuse, and respect for the rights of others. Mercy reminds us that vulnerable people must not be forgotten. Humility warns us that no political office makes a person superior to other human beings. What issues should concern Christian citizens? Christians should care about matters such as: Corruption and misuse of public funds. Insecurity and the protection of human life. Access to quality education. Affordable and accessible healthcare. Poverty and the welfare of vulnerable citizens. Religious freedom and peaceful coexistence. Equal treatment under the law. Responsible management of public resources. Protection of children and the dignity of older people. Employment opportunities and the wellbeing of families. These issues should not be approached merely as campaign slogans. They deserve careful thought, informed discussion, and practical engagement. Christians may disagree about which policies best address these challenges. Such disagreements should be handled with honesty, humility, and respect. The Bible gives us moral principles, but applying those principles to public policy often requires careful investigation, practical wisdom, and honest evaluation of evidence. Biblical example: The Good Samaritan In Luke 10:25–37, Jesus tells the story of a man who was attacked by robbers and left wounded. Religious figures passed by without helping him. A Samaritan, however, stopped, cared for the injured man, and paid for his recovery. Jesus used the story to teach love of neighbour. Although the parable is not specifically about elections or political parties, it challenges every Christian to consider whether our actions reflect genuine concern for other people. We cannot claim to love our neighbours while being indifferent to their suffering. We should also remember that caring for people involves more than government. Churches, families, charities, businesses, and individuals all have responsibilities. A word of caution Standing for justice does not mean hating those who disagree with us politically. You can oppose a policy without dehumanising its supporters. You can criticise a leader without spreading falsehoods about that leader. You can advocate for change without promoting violence. Powerful truth: Christian political engagement must defend human dignity, including the dignity of people who disagree with us. --- POINT FIVE: CHRISTIANS MUST PRAY FOR LEADERS AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE Key Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:1–2 Paul urges believers to offer prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for all people, including kings and those in authority. The purpose includes the possibility of living peaceful and orderly lives. Notice that the instruction is to pray for leaders, not merely for leaders we personally like. A Christian should be able to pray for a president, governor, legislator, local government chairman, or public official even when that person belongs to a different political party. Praying for a leader does not mean approving every decision that leader makes. Neither does it mean refusing to question wrongdoing. Prayer and accountability should work together. Three responsibilities of Christians toward political leaders 1. Pray for wisdom. Leadership involves difficult decisions. Pray that leaders will act with wisdom, justice, restraint, and concern for the people. 2. Encourage what is right. When leaders make decisions that genuinely benefit society, acknowledge those decisions fairly, regardless of party affiliation. 3. Speak against wrongdoing responsibly. When there is credible evidence of misconduct, Christians should not be afraid to support lawful accountability. Depending on the situation, this may involve peaceful advocacy, petitions, responsible journalism, legal processes, or reporting wrongdoing to appropriate authorities. Our criticism must be truthful, proportionate, and aimed at accountability rather than revenge. Biblical example: Nathan confronts David In 2 Samuel 12:1–13, the prophet Nathan confronted King David after David's grave wrongdoing involving Bathsheba and the death of her husband, Uriah. Nathan did not excuse David because he was king. He courageously exposed the wrongdoing and called David to account. David acknowledged his sin. This account demonstrates that political or royal authority does not place anyone above God's moral standards. Nathan's example also reminds us that confronting wrongdoing requires courage and wisdom. Spiritual lesson: Respect for authority must never become an excuse for worshipping authority. Christians should pray for leaders, respect lawful institutions, and remain willing to speak truthfully when justice demands it. 4. BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: JOSEPH — A MAN OF GOD IN GOVERNMENT. Main Scriptures: Genesis 41:14–57 Joseph's life demonstrates how God can use a person in public administration to preserve lives and serve an entire nation. Joseph was not born into political power. He experienced betrayal by his brothers, slavery, false accusation, and imprisonment. Yet he continued to honour God. When Pharaoh needed someone to interpret his dreams, Joseph explained that the coming years would include seven years of abundance followed by seven years of severe famine. Joseph did more than interpret the dream. He proposed a practical plan. He recommended that food be collected and stored during the years of abundance so that the nation would have supplies during the famine. Pharaoh recognised Joseph's wisdom and appointed him to a position of great authority. Joseph then helped implement a system for managing food resources. When the famine came, the preparations helped provide food for Egypt and people from other lands. Five lessons from Joseph's experience 1. God can use people in public service. Joseph's position allowed him to influence decisions that affected countless lives. His story demonstrates that public administration can become an opportunity to serve people. 2. Spiritual gifts should be accompanied b practical wisdom. Joseph did not stop at interpreting the dream. He proposed a plan and participated in its implementation. Christians need both spiritual maturity and practical competence. 3. Good leadership requires preparation. Joseph understood that abundance would not last forever. He prepared for the coming crisis. Wise leaders do not wait until disaster arrives before planning. 4. Public resources must be managed responsibly. Joseph's assignment involved collecting, storing, and distributing food. Such responsibilities required organisation and administration. 5. Leadership should preserve life and promote human welfare. Joseph's work helped people survive a devastating famine. His story challenges Christian leaders to measure success not merely by position, influence, or wealth, but also by the good their leadership accomplishes. A practical application for Nigeria and other nations Imagine a Christian appointed to oversee public education. That person should not merely celebrate the appointment. They should work to improve educational standards, use resources responsibly, promote fairness, and help ensure that children receive quality education. Imagine a Christian elected to a legislative position. That person should study proposed laws, listen to constituents, consider the consequences of legislation, and exercise their responsibilities with integrity. Imagine a Christian working in a local government office. That person should perform their duties honestly, treat citizens fairly, and resist pressure to misuse public resources. Joseph teaches us that spiritual faithfulness and competent public service can work together for the good of society. 5. SHOULD CHRISTIANS JOIN POLITICAL PARTIES OR CONTEST ELECTIONS? This is a question many believers ask. The Bible does not give Christians a universal command to join a political party, nor does it prohibit every form of political participation. Different Christians may prayerfully reach different conclusions about whether they should enter party politics, become candidates, work in public administration, or contribute through other forms of civic engagement. What matters is that their decisions are guided by biblical convictions and responsible judgment. Christians may participate in politics by: Voting responsibly. Contesting elections. Joining political parties. Serving in public administration. Supporting peaceful and lawful civic advocacy. Educating citizens about their rights and responsibilities. Monitoring public projects and government performance. Encouraging transparency and accountability. Supporting initiatives that help vulnerable people. However, participation should be guided by Christian character. Before entering politics, ask yourself five questions. 1. Why am I entering politics? Is it to serve people, or simply to gain wealth, power, recognition, and influence? Ambition is not automatically wrong, but ambition must be disciplined by love, integrity, and service. 2. Am I prepared to remain honest when honesty becomes costly? It is easy to promise integrity before gaining office. The real test comes when you face pressure to compromise. 3. Can I respect people who disagree with me? Political maturity requires the ability to engage opponents without hatred or intimidation. 4. Do I have the competence required for the responsibility? Good intentions are important, but public service also requires knowledge, preparation, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn. 5. Will my political activities strengthen or damage my Christian witness? Consider whether your methods reflect the truth, humility, justice, and love that you profess. Remember, a Christian does not become automatically righteous by joining a political party with a religious identity. A party's name cannot replace personal integrity, and a religious slogan cannot substitute for responsible leadership. 6. SEVEN DANGERS CHRISTIANS MUST AVOID IN POLITICS. Political participation can create opportunities for service, but it can also expose believers to serious temptations. Let us consider seven dangers. 1. Political idolatry Political idolatry occurs when a person gives a political leader, party, or movement the kind of unquestioning loyalty that belongs to God alone. No politician is the Messiah. No political party is the kingdom of God. Our political choices should never become more important than our obedience to Christ. 2. Tribalism and ethnic hatred. A Christian must not automatically support someone simply because that person belongs to the same ethnic group. Nor should we hate or mistreat people because of their ethnicity. Our commitment to Christ calls us to recognise the dignity of people from different backgrounds. Religious manipulation Do not allow anyone to use prophetic claims, spiritual threats, or the name of God to prevent you from thinking responsibly about political decisions. Spiritual claims should not become tools for manipulation. Examine claims carefully and judge conduct by appropriate evidence and biblical principles. 4. Political violence Christians must not encourage the destruction of property, intimidation, or attacks against political opponents. Disagreements should be addressed through peaceful, lawful means. 5. False information Do not spread unverified allegations, fabricated stories, or misleading material simply because it benefits your political side. Truthfulness remains a Christian responsibility, including on social media. 6. Corruption and misuse of office A Christian in government must not treat public funds as personal property or use public office to enrich friends and relatives unlawfully. Trust is a responsibility, not a licence for exploitation. 7. Neglecting spiritual life. Political involvement can become so demanding that prayer, Scripture, family responsibilities, and Christian fellowship are neglected. Maintain spiritual discipline and healthy boundaries. Never become so occupied with changing the political system that you neglect the condition of your own heart. 7. DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS: WHAT THE CHURCH MUST UNDERSTAND. Insight One: The church must not confuse God's kingdom with an earthly political kingdom Jesus declared in John 18:36: “My kingdom is not of this world.” — KJV Jesus was explaining the nature and origin of His kingdom in response to Pilate. His statement does not mean that His followers should ignore injustice or abandon their responsibilities in society. Rather, it reminds us that the kingdom of Christ cannot be reduced to an earthly government, political party, or national identity. Political systems can change, but the lordship of Christ remains. Therefore, the church must never measure the success of the gospel solely by whether its preferred candidate wins an election. Our mission includes preaching Christ, making disciples, serving people, promoting righteousness, and demonstrating God's love. Insight Two: Prayer is essential, but prayer must not become an excuse for irresponsibility Some Christians pray for good leadership but refuse to participate in any meaningful way in their communities. Others participate actively in politics but rarely pray or examine their motives. Both prayer and responsible action have their place. Nehemiah prayed when he heard about Jerusalem's broken walls, but he also planned, organised, communicated, and worked toward rebuilding them. See Nehemiah 1–4. His example reminds us that spiritual dependence on God and practical responsibility can work together. We should pray for peace while promoting peace. We should pray for justice while supporting truthful and lawful accountability. We should pray for good leadership while taking our civic responsibilities seriously. Insight Three: Political victory is not the same as spiritual approval A candidate may win an election without possessing godly character. Another candidate may lose despite having sincere intentions. Election results determine who assumes office under the applicable political system; they do not automatically reveal God's moral approval of every action taken by the winner. Christians must therefore evaluate leadership by appropriate standards of integrity, competence, justice, accountability, and public service. Insight Four: Christians can disagree politically without becoming enemies Believers may differ on economic policies, taxation, public spending, education, healthcare, security, and the best ways to reduce poverty. Such disagreements do not automatically make one person a faithful Christian and another an unfaithful Christian. We should examine evidence, listen carefully, and recognise that people can share the same moral goal while disagreeing about the best way to achieve it. Do not destroy Christian fellowship merely because another believer supports a different candidate. Insight Five: Political office is temporary, but character matters beyond office Presidents leave office. Governors complete their terms. Legislators lose elections. Appointments are withdrawn. But the consequences of our choices and the character we develop remain important. A Christian should aim to leave behind a testimony of integrity, service, justice, and compassion. The greatest political legacy is not merely the position you occupied, but the good you accomplished and the character you demonstrated while occupying it. 8. PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS: WHAT SHOULD CHRISTIANS DO? Here are ten practical steps for Christian participation in politics and civic life. Step 1: Pray for your nation regularly Pray for peace, wisdom, justice, responsible leadership, and the protection of vulnerable people. Step 2: Study the issues Do not make political decisions based only on slogans, rumours, tribal sentiments, or emotional appeals. Understand the issues affecting your community. Step 3: Evaluate candidates carefully Consider character, competence, policies, past performance, respect for the law, and willingness to be held accountable. No candidate is perfect, but responsible evaluation matters. Step 4: Vote responsibly Where you are eligible to vote, exercise that responsibility according to your conscience and the law. Reject intimidation, vote buying, and electoral violence. Step 5: Become a responsible citizen Respect the law, fulfil your lawful obligations, protect public property, and contribute positively to your community. Step 6: Hold leaders accountable Encourage transparency and support lawful processes for addressing misconduct. Accountability should apply to leaders from every political party. Step 7: Promote peace Refuse to spread political hatred. Encourage peaceful discussion and reject violence. Step 8: Use social media responsibly Before sharing political content, verify its source and accuracy. Do not use your Christian platform to spread unverified allegations or dehumanise opponents. Step 9: Serve people regardless of their political affiliation Help the poor, visit the sick, support prisoners and their families, encourage young people, and assist vulnerable people without demanding political loyalty in return. Step 10: Keep Christ at the centre Maintain prayer, Bible study, Christian fellowship, personal integrity, and accountability. Do not allow political involvement to become an idol. 9. QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL AND GROUP REFLECTION Take time to answer these questions honestly. 1. Do I believe Christians have a responsibility to contribute positively to society? Why or why not? 2. Have I ever supported a political candidate because of personal benefit rather than careful evaluation? 3. Am I willing to acknowledge wrongdoing by a politician I support? 4. Do I judge political candidates by their character and policies, or merely by their religion, ethnicity, party, or promises? 5. Have my political opinions damaged my relationship with fellow Christians or members of my family? 6. Do I spread political information without checking whether it is true? 7. If I were appointed to public office today, what safeguards would help me remain honest? 8. Am I praying for leaders, including those whose political views differ from mine? 9. What practical action can I take this month to improve the welfare of my community? 10. If Jesus examined my political conduct today, would He see truthfulness, humility, justice, love, and self-control? Do not answer these questions merely to satisfy your pastor. Answer them before God. 10. POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS. Find a quiet place, open your heart to God, and pray with faith and sincerity. Prayer Point 1: Prayer for national transformation Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14 Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on behalf of our nation. Forgive us for our sins, our selfishness, our dishonesty, and our failure to love our neighbours as You have commanded. Bring healing to our communities. Help us to pursue righteousness, peace, and justice. Teach us to become responsible citizens who contribute to the welfare of our nation. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 2: Prayer for political leaders Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:1–2 Father, we pray for our national, state, and local government leaders. Grant them wisdom, humility, courage, and sound judgment. Deliver them from greed, corruption, pride, and the abuse of power. Help them to recognise that leadership is a responsibility entrusted to them for the good of the people. May they govern with justice, protect human dignity, and use public resources responsibly. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 3: Prayer against corruption Scripture: Proverbs 11:1 Lord, expose wrongdoing through truthful and lawful means. Give our leaders and citizens the courage to reject corruption, dishonesty, bribery, and the misuse of public resources. Begin with us, Lord. Search our hearts and remove every desire to benefit from wrongdoing. Make us people of integrity in our homes, churches, workplaces, and public institutions. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 4: Prayer for Christians in government Scripture: Daniel 6:3–4 Father, strengthen every Christian serving in government or public administration. Give them the wisdom of Daniel, the integrity to resist corruption, and the courage to stand for what is right. Protect them from destructive ambition and the temptation to compromise their convictions. Help them to serve people faithfully and remain accountable in their responsibilities. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 5: Prayer against political hatred and violence Scripture: Matthew 5:9 Prince of Peace, bring peace to our communities and nations. Remove hatred, ethnic hostility, political bitterness, and the desire for revenge. Protect innocent people from violence and intimidation. Help political leaders, supporters, and citizens to resolve disagreements peacefully. Teach us to disagree without hatred and to pursue justice without abandoning love. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 6: Prayer for Christian wisdom Scripture: James 1:5 Father, grant us wisdom to make responsible political decisions. Deliver us from deception, manipulation, prejudice, and the influence of false information. Help us to distinguish between promises and proven performance, between personal gain and the common good, and between political loyalty and godly conviction. May Your Word guide our conscience and Your Spirit help us to walk in truth. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 7: Prayer for young Christians Scripture: 1 Timothy 4:12 Lord, raise a generation of young Christians who are courageous, honest, disciplined, and committed to serving humanity. Protect them from political manipulation and the temptation to participate in violence or corruption. Give them the education, skills, wisdom, and opportunities needed to contribute positively to society. May they become examples of godly character wherever You place them. In Jesus' name. Amen. Prayer Point 8: Prayer for personal examination Scripture: Psalm 139:23–24 Search me, O God, and know my heart. Expose every selfish motive, every hidden prejudice, and every desire that would cause me to compromise Your truth. Forgive me where I have spread falsehood, encouraged hatred, or defended wrongdoing because of political loyalty. Help me to love truth, practise justice, show mercy, and walk humbly before You. Let my life bring honour to the name of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen. 11. POWERFUL CLOSING: CHRISTIANS, ARISE AND BECOME AGENTS OF GODLY CHANGE! Beloved, the time has come for Christians to think seriously about their responsibility to God, their neighbours, and their nation. We cannot afford to become people who speak passionately about heaven but show no concern for the suffering of people around us. We cannot preach honesty on Sunday and defend dishonesty on Monday. We cannot teach our children to fear God while encouraging them to believe that corruption is acceptable when it benefits their political group. We cannot claim to be the light of the world while deliberately spreading darkness through hatred, falsehood, and injustice. Our Christianity must influence not only what we believe, but also how we live, how we lead, how we vote, how we speak, and how we treat people who disagree with us. If God calls you into politics, serve with integrity. If God places you in public administration, work diligently and honestly. If you are a voter, make responsible decisions. If you are a pastor, teach your congregation biblical principles without turning the pulpit into a tool for political manipulation. If you are a young Christian, prepare yourself to become a responsible leader. If you are a social media user, use your platform to promote truth, peace, and constructive engagement. If you are a businessperson, create value, treat people fairly, and resist corruption. If you are an ordinary citizen, remember that your daily choices also contribute to the character of your society. You do not need to become a president, governor, senator, or local government chairman before you can make a difference. You can influence your family. You can encourage your neighbours. You can educate your community. You can support the vulnerable. You can speak truthfully. You can reject corruption. You can promote peace. And you can pray faithfully. Let us remember the words of Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — KJV Jesus did not call us to shine only within the four walls of a church building. He called us to live in a way that makes God's goodness visible to the world. Therefore, when Christians enter political spaces, they should carry the values of Christ with them. When Christians discuss political issues, they should speak with wisdom. When Christians disagree, they should remain respectful. When Christians exercise authority, they should serve humbly. When Christians encounter corruption, they should refuse to participate in it. And when Christians see suffering, they should ask what they can do to help. The goal is not simply to put Christians in positions of power. The goal is to see Christians demonstrate Christlike character wherever they are positioned. Our political choices will differ, but our responsibility to truth, justice, mercy, peace, and human dignity remains. Let us build a generation of believers who cannot be bought, intimidated into silence, manipulated through hatred, or separated from their convictions by political ambition. May our homes be places of integrity. May our churches be centres of truth and compassion. May our leaders become servants rather than oppressors. May our young people grow in wisdom and responsibility. And may our nations experience the positive influence of citizens whose faith produces good works. Christians, arise! Pray for your nation. Prepare yourself for service. Participate responsibly. Reject corruption. Defend truth. Promote peace. Stand for justice. And let the character of Jesus Christ be seen in everything you do. Does it make sense for a lifeline thrown to somebody that is caught in an inferno to be rejected by the person? It is the kind of lifeline that Israel, and in fact all those disobedient to God, rejected when captivity was knocking at the door and they rejected a divine solution to avert it. It shows the deep and strong allegiance of the human adamic nature to self destruction. A wise person will deliberately, and if need be violently, break loose from the evil tendencies of the heart and obey God. *1. Mercy Fitted into a Clear Commandment* a. Judah had entered a desperate mode. In the next four years, Jerusalem (March 16, 597 BC), Jerusalem would be partly captured by Nebuchadnezzar after Jehoiakim rebelled against Babylonian rule. They did not know that, but God knew. Often when God warns sinners, backslidders and careless saints of the danger ahead, the depraved nature blinds the mind to the reality and the nearness of the danger ahead. The wisest thing for man is to always take every part of the Word of God and every warning seriously and respond promptly. For example, someone that is called to repentance or restitution may not even know that he may lose the opportunity if immediate action is not taken. b. Inspite of all their sodomy, idol worship, rebellion, witchcrafts etc., God gave them a lifeline as he zeroed what they were to do to repent from only one sin which should be easy for them except for their stubborn hearts. The Law on the Sabbath forbad anyone doing any form of work on the Sabbath day with capital punishment attached to the offenders. *"Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem"*. The commandment was clear. The Sabbath day must be hallowed (Exodus 20:8-12). Why did God choose this singular sin to address and avert their captivity into Babylon? It was a root sin which if it was addressed would address other sins. It would be difficult for them to discipline themselves on the sabbath which they had turned to a business day without affecting their covetousness and lust for money. It would tame their idol worship tendencies because they were expected to give their services to God on the sabbath. It would have been a check on some other sins. Sins don't go in isolation. If one is guilty of one, there are some others that the person will be guilty of. It is not surprising then that the Scripture says only one sin is enough to cast someone to hell (James 2:10).   *Question* Look inward and identify the singular wrong in your life that if you correct it, it will positively affect other wrongs too. Are you willing to change? *2. Misuse of Freedom onto Carnal Choice* a. How did Israel react to this simple thing they could have easily obeyed? *"But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction"*. Were they wise for not responding to this divine lifeline? If they had believed what Jeremiah prophesied as the hard and bitter repercussions awaiting them, it would have been a different story. The blindness of the heart led them to unbelief and to wrong and foolish choices of carnality. Just as *"they (the rebellious) could not enter (Canaan land) because of unbelief,"* in the same way, they refused to see beyond their nose, believe the Word of God and act on it because of unbelief. b. This is the state of sinners, backslidders and careless saints who are blinded not to see the present and eternal repercussions of disobedience. They refuse to break from the past sins not knowing that the judgment is knocking at their doors. They are misusing their freedom of choice and deliberately refusing to break off from those things that are displeasing to God and end up choosing death rather than life. *Question* Are you wise in your choices by factoring eternity into your plan and choices? *3. Myopic and Faithless Consideration with Consequences* Four years to their doom, God promised the whole nation that it could be reversed and Jerusalem would remain intact and life would continue for them. The only condition for them was *"to diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD ... but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein"*. The promise was unequivocal. *"Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David...and this city shall remain for ever"*. The warning was repeated. *"But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day...then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched"*. They were myopic by just considering the pleasure of sin which they were not willing to break off from. They did not believe that God said what He meant and meant what He said. *Question* Do you believe what God has said about Rapture, Judgment to come, eternal Hell fire and Heaven? Consider how, in today's text, He condescended to rehearse the laws relating to the observance of the Sabbath to rebellious Judah, who were already exposed to destruction. Here, God still set two options before them.* *If they would return to the Lord and keep the Sabbath holy, the pending calamities would be averted, and they would be blessed with a continued succession of princes on the throne of David. On the other hand, if they rebelled still and continued to violate the Sabbath, the Lord promised to "kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched". The latch was entirely on their side. Although some religious opinions argue otherwise, God's word uniformly teaches that man is a free moral agent capable of making such important choices as turning to or turning away from God.* *Today, the Lord still gives us the freedom to obey Him or act otherwise. But it must be noted that each choice carries a consequence. God is not willing that any should perish. But how damnable they are that reject the entreaties, grace and counsel of God. THE MARK GOD PLACED ON THE FIRST MURDERER WAS NOT A CURSE, BUT A SUPERNATURAL SHIELD OF IMMUNITY SO HE COULD SURVIVE WHILE BUILDING THE FIRST HUMAN METROPOLIS. 🛡️🏙️ When Cain committed the first homicide in human history by murdering his brother Abel (Genesis 4), the earth itself cursed his agricultural work, forcing him to become a restless wanderer and fugitive. Gripped by absolute panic, Cain pleaded with God, saying: "Whoever finds me will kill me." Contrary to what many assume, God did not place a "mark" on him to shame him in front of everyone, but rather as a lethal cosmic warning: "Anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over." The mark (a physical or glowing spiritual symbol that the Bible deliberately keeps mysterious) was a passport of divine immunity. Armed with this supernatural shield, Cain went east to the land of Nod. Knowing that God had stripped him of the ability to harvest the earth, Cain rebelled against his punishment as a wanderer and did the unthinkable: he founded the first metropolis of humanity and named it Enoch, after his son. Cain built walls, developed engineering, and created the first urban system. Thus, human culture independent of God was born: cities, weapons, metallurgy, and entertainment (the branches of his descendants), all designed to anesthetize the pain of being separated from the Creator's presence. Yet, even in the worst act of betrayal, God provided a mark of protection and grace for the murderer. If God was capable of placing a supernatural shield over the life of the first killer so that no one would touch him, how much more will He surround your life, your children, and your purpose with His angels camping around you? Even our Lord Jesus Christ faced opposition while fulfilling His earthly ministry. If you want to succeed, you must learn to overcome opposition without losing your faith, your character, or your commitment to God. However, let us understand something important: not every delay is an attack from the devil, not every critic is your enemy, and not every closed door is evidence of spiritual warfare. Sometimes, the obstacle is a lack of preparation, poor decisions, fear, laziness, or the need to change direction. Spiritual maturity teaches us to distinguish between spiritual opposition, human opposition, and personal weaknesses. The question is not simply, Who is against me? The more important questions are: What is standing in the way of my progress? What must I change to move forward? How can I remain faithful to God while overcoming opposition? What steps must I take to fulfil my destiny? Today, we will discover five biblical principles for overcoming the enemies of success. Declaration: I will not surrender my God-given purpose to fear, discouragement, ignorance, or opposition. By God's grace, I will rise, grow, and fulfil my assignment! 2. UNDERSTANDING THE ENEMIES OF SUCCESS. Before we learn how to overcome the enemies of success, we must identify them. An enemy of success is anything that persistently hinders your progress towards a worthwhile and God-honouring goal. Some obstacles come from outside us, while others develop within us. A. External obstacles These may include: Unfair treatment and opposition. Negative influences and destructive relationships. Lack of opportunities or resources. Criticism intended to discourage you. Dishonesty, exploitation, and injustice. B. Internal obstacles These may include: Fear of failure. Laziness and procrastination. Pride and unwillingness to learn. Negative thinking. Lack of discipline. Poor time management. Unforgiveness and bitterness. C. Spiritual obstacles These include temptations, discouragement, spiritual complacency, and anything that pulls us away from obedience to God. Important spiritual truth: Do not spend all your energy fighting people when God may be calling you to correct a habit, acquire a skill, exercise patience, or make a wiser decision. Sometimes, the breakthrough you are praying for begins with the change you have been avoiding. 3. FIVE BIBLICAL KEYS TO OVERCOMING THE ENEMIES OF SUCCESS POINT 1: BUILD YOUR LIFE ON GOD'S WORD AND PRAY WITHOUT CEASING. Key Scripture: Isaiah 54:17 The Bible declares that no weapon formed against God's people will ultimately prevail against His purposes. This promise does not mean that believers will never experience hardship, injustice, disappointment, or opposition. Rather, we can trust God to sustain us and help us remain faithful even when opposition arises. God's presence does not always remove the battle immediately, but it gives us strength to face the battle without abandoning our faith. Consider the example of Daniel. Daniel was a man of integrity who served faithfully in a foreign kingdom. His excellence attracted attention, but some officials became jealous and sought an opportunity to accuse him. They manipulated the situation to make his devotion to God appear criminal. Yet Daniel continued praying to God, even when doing so placed him in danger. Read Daniel 6:4–10. Daniel did not abandon his convictions to gain approval. He remained faithful, and God delivered him from the lions' den. What can we learn from Daniel? 1. Do not compromise your convictions to please people. There may be times when people pressure you to abandon honesty, integrity, or your Christian faith for personal advancement. Stand firm. 2. Make prayer a lifestyle, not an emergency measure. Do not wait until trouble comes before you begin to pray. Develop a consistent relationship with God. 3. Trust God while taking responsible action. Daniel prayed, but he also worked diligently and maintained an excellent spirit. Prayer and excellence should work together. Practical application Begin each day with prayer and Scripture. Ask God for wisdom before making important decisions. Refuse dishonest shortcuts, even when they promise quick success. Remain faithful when your circumstances are difficult. Spiritual insight: The goal is not merely to defeat opposition. It is to become the kind of person who remains faithful to God whether the opposition disappears or not. Declaration: Father, strengthen my faith, establish my steps, and help me stand firm in Your truth! POINT 2: OVERCOME FEAR, LAZINESS, AND PROCRASTINATION. Key Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 The apostle Paul reminds Timothy that God has given His people a spirit of power, love, and self-control. Fear can make a capable person abandon a worthwhile assignment before even beginning. Procrastination can make someone postpone a responsibility until opportunities are lost. Laziness can destroy the results that prayer alone cannot produce without corresponding action. Many people pray for success but refuse to develop the habits that support success. They pray for a better future but waste the opportunities available today. They ask God for wisdom but refuse to learn. They desire financial progress but neglect diligence, planning, and responsible money management. Beloved, faith is not an excuse for inactivity. Consider Proverbs 6:6–11. The Bible directs the sluggard to consider the ant, which works diligently without requiring constant supervision. The ant teaches us the importance of preparation, consistency, and personal responsibility. You may not be able to control every circumstance, but you can take responsibility for your attitude, effort, and preparation. Three enemies you must confront 1. Fear of failure You may fear starting a business, writing a book, applying for a job, pursuing education, or beginning a ministry assignment. Remember that failure is not always the end of your journey. Sometimes, it reveals what you need to learn. 2. Procrastination Every time you postpone an important task without a good reason, you risk making tomorrow more difficult. Do not wait until you feel motivated. Establish a routine and begin. 3. Inconsistency Success often requires doing the right things repeatedly, even when the results are not immediately visible. A person who studies occasionally may struggle against someone who studies consistently. A person who works on a vision once a month may struggle against someone who makes steady progress every week. Practical steps Identify one important goal. Break it into small, manageable tasks. Establish a daily or weekly schedule. Learn the skills you need. Review your progress regularly. Ask a trustworthy person to hold you accountable. Spiritual insight: Sometimes, the door you are asking God to open requires you to prepare yourself for the responsibility behind that door. Declaration: I reject fear, laziness, and destructive procrastination. By God's grace, I will become disciplined, courageous, and consistent! POINT 3: DO NOT ALLOW NEGATIVE PEOPLE TO DESTROY YOUR VISION. Key Scripture: Nehemiah 4:1–6 When Nehemiah decided to rebuild Jerusalem's broken walls, he encountered ridicule and opposition. Sanballat and Tobiah mocked the rebuilding effort and attempted to discourage the workers. But Nehemiah did not abandon the assignment simply because some people disapproved of it. He prayed to God and continued building. The walls were rebuilt because Nehemiah and the people remained committed to the work despite opposition. What does Nehemiah teach us? 1. Not everyone will understand your vision. Some people may not understand your goals because they have different priorities, experiences, or expectations. You do not need everyone's approval before pursuing a legitimate, God-honouring purpose. 2. Do not confuse criticism with persecution. Some criticism is destructive, but some criticism is valuable. A mature Christian learns to distinguish between malicious attacks and honest correction. Do not reject useful advice simply because it challenges you. 3. Do not waste your life arguing with every critic. Nehemiah did not allow ridicule to become his main assignment. He continued building. There are times when the most productive response to criticism is to improve your work, correct your mistakes, and remain focused. A word of caution Do not label everyone who disagrees with you as an enemy. A pastor who corrects your conduct may be helping you. A friend who questions a reckless decision may be protecting you. A colleague who points out a mistake may be giving you an opportunity to improve. Discernment is more valuable than suspicion. Practical application Surround yourself with people who encourage truth, growth, and accountability. Limit your exposure to relationships that repeatedly encourage destructive behaviour. Listen carefully to constructive feedback. Establish healthy boundaries where necessary. Keep working towards your goals without becoming consumed by the opinions of others. Spiritual insight: You cannot control every voice around you, but you can choose which voices deserve your attention. Declaration: Lord, give me wisdom to recognise destructive influence, humility to receive correction, and courage to remain faithful to my assignment! POINT 4: DEVELOP YOUR CHARACTER, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXCELLENCE. Key Scripture: Proverbs 22:29 The Bible speaks of a person who is diligent in their work and explains that such a person may stand before kings rather than obscure people. This verse highlights the importance of diligence and competence. Prayer is essential, but prayer should not become an excuse for refusing to improve. If you want to succeed in your education, study diligently. If you want to succeed in business, understand your customers, manage your resources wisely, and provide genuine value. If you want to succeed in ministry, study the Scriptures carefully, develop your communication skills, and serve people faithfully. If you want to become a better leader, learn to listen, communicate clearly, and accept responsibility for your decisions. Consider the example of Joseph. Read Genesis 39–41. Joseph experienced betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment. Yet he continued demonstrating integrity and responsibility in difficult circumstances. While in prison, he interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's officials. Later, when Pharaoh needed someone to interpret his dreams and recommend a practical response to the coming famine, Joseph was able to offer both interpretation and a plan. His God-given ability was accompanied by wisdom and practical preparation. Joseph did not merely announce that a famine was coming. He recommended gathering and storing food during the years of abundance. His insight helped Egypt prepare for a future crisis. Lessons from Joseph 1. Develop your gifts. Identify what God has placed in your hands and work to improve it. 2. Learn while you wait. A season of waiting does not have to become a season of wasted opportunities. Use available time to acquire knowledge, build relationships, and strengthen your character. 3. Remain faithful in small responsibilities. Joseph served faithfully in Potiphar's house and later in prison before becoming a leader in Egypt. Do not despise small beginnings. 4. Let your character support your success. Talent may attract opportunities, but integrity helps you handle responsibility wisely. Practical steps Ask yourself: What skill do I need to improve? What book should I read? What bad habit must I abandon? What responsibility have I been neglecting? What can I do today to become better prepared for tomorrow? Spiritual insight: God can open a door, but wisdom and preparation help you serve effectively when the door opens. Declaration: Father, develop my character, sharpen my understanding, and teach me to work with excellence and integrity! POINT 5: PERSEVERE IN FAITH AND REFUSE TO GIVE UP TOO EARLY. Key Scripture: Galatians 6:9 The Bible encourages believers not to grow weary in doing good because, in due season, they will reap if they do not give up. This Scripture teaches us that worthwhile results often require patience. A farmer does not plant seeds in the morning and expect to harvest a mature crop that afternoon. There is a season for planting, watering, cultivating, and harvesting. In the same way, many worthwhile goals require time, effort, learning, and perseverance. You may be praying for a breakthrough in your career, ministry, family, education, or business. You may have worked hard without seeing the results you expected. Do not automatically conclude that your efforts are useless. Instead, examine your direction, seek wisdom, make necessary adjustments, and continue doing what is right. Consider the example of the apostle Paul. Paul experienced imprisonment, opposition, rejection, and many hardships in his ministry. Yet he continued proclaiming the gospel. Read 2 Corinthians 11:23–28 and 2 Timothy 4:7. His journey reminds us that meaningful service to God does not always produce immediate comfort or public recognition. Sometimes, faithfulness means continuing to do what God has called you to do even when the journey becomes difficult. Four principles of perseverance 1. Do not measure your entire future by one disappointing season. A temporary setback does not necessarily determine your final outcome. 2. Learn from your mistakes. Perseverance does not mean repeating the same mistake endlessly. It means remaining committed to the right purpose while learning and improving your approach. 3. Celebrate small progress. Every useful lesson, completed task, improved habit, and honest effort can contribute to long-term growth. 4. Know when to adjust your strategy. Faithfulness does not require stubbornly following a plan that is clearly failing. Sometimes, wisdom means changing your method while keeping your God-honouring purpose. Spiritual insight: Delayed results do not automatically mean denied opportunities. However, perseverance must be accompanied by wisdom, patience, and a willingness to learn. Declaration: I will not surrender to discouragement. By God's grace, I will learn, grow, adjust, and continue walking in faith! 4. BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: NEHEMIAH—A MAN WHO REFUSED TO BE DISTRACTED Main Scripture: Nehemiah 6:1–9 Nehemiah had a burden to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. He prayed, planned, sought permission from the king, obtained the necessary support, and mobilised the people to rebuild. But his assignment attracted opposition. His enemies mocked him, threatened him, and attempted to distract him from the work. At one point, they invited him to meet them, but Nehemiah recognised that their invitation could draw him away from his responsibility. His response in Nehemiah 6:3 demonstrates his commitment to the assignment. He refused to abandon important work merely to satisfy those seeking to distract him. The walls were eventually completed. Five lessons from Nehemiah's life Lesson 1: A burden must become a plan. Nehemiah did not stop at feeling concerned about Jerusalem. He developed a practical approach to solving the problem. Lesson 2: Prayer and planning belong together. Nehemiah prayed, but he also assessed the situation, organised people, and gathered resources. Lesson 3: Opposition must not become your main focus. If you spend all your time responding to every critic, you may neglect the very assignment you were called to complete. Lesson 4: Cooperation strengthens progress. Nehemiah worked with the people. He understood that rebuilding the walls required collective effort. Lesson 5: Stay focused without becoming reckless. Nehemiah remained committed, but he also recognised danger and responded with discernment. Apply this story to your life. If you are building a business, focus on serving your customers well. If you are pursuing education, maintain a disciplined study routine. If you are developing a ministry, remain faithful to Scripture and committed to serving people. If you are working towards a personal goal, identify the next practical step and take it. Do not spend so much time fighting distractions that you forget to build what God has placed in your heart. 5. SEVEN PRACTICAL STEPS TO OVERCOME THE ENEMIES OF SUCCESS. Here are seven actions you can begin taking today. Step 1: Identify your greatest obstacle. Write down the three things currently hindering your progress. Be honest. They may include fear, financial limitations, poor planning, discouragement, unhealthy relationships, or a lack of necessary skills. Step 2: Pray for wisdom and direction. Ask God to show you what you need to change, what you need to learn, and where you need to remain patient. Read James 1:5. Step 3: Set clear and measurable goals. Instead of saying, "I want to succeed," identify what success in your current assignment requires. For example: Complete one chapter of your book this week. Study for one hour each day. Save a realistic amount of money each month. Contact three potential customers. Develop one useful skill this month. Step 4: Take consistent action. Do not wait until every circumstance is perfect. Start with the resources and knowledge available to you, while remaining willing to learn. Step 5: Choose your relationships wisely. Seek relationships that encourage integrity, accountability, wisdom, and spiritual growth. Do not isolate yourself from everyone who disagrees with you. Step 6: Evaluate your progress. At the end of each week, ask yourself: What did I accomplish? What went wrong? What did I learn? What must I improve next week? Step 7: Remain faithful to God. Do not sacrifice your faith, integrity, family responsibilities, or concern for others merely to achieve a personal ambition. True success is not simply reaching a destination. It is reaching it without losing the character and convictions that matter most. 6. DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS ABOUT SUCCESS Let us consider five truths every Christian should understand. 1. Not every battle requires confrontation. Some battles require prayer. Others require patience, honest conversation, professional advice, better planning, or a change in behaviour. Ask God for discernment before deciding how to respond. 2. Your greatest obstacle may be within you. Goliath stood before David, but fear could have prevented David from confronting him. Likewise, fear, pride, anger, and self-doubt can prevent us from using opportunities wisely. Sometimes, overcoming yourself is an important part of overcoming your circumstances. 3. Godly success is more than material prosperity. A person can accumulate wealth and still lack peace, integrity, healthy relationships, and spiritual maturity. Joshua 1:8 connects meditation on God's Word and obedience with success in the assignment God gave Joshua. We must therefore understand success in the light of God's purposes, not merely through wealth, fame, or public recognition. 4. You do not need to destroy your enemies to fulfil your purpose. Romans 12:17–21 teaches Christians not to repay evil with evil. You can establish boundaries without hatred. You can defend yourself against injustice without becoming unjust. You can pursue your goals without seeking revenge. Let God deal with what belongs to Him while you take responsibility for your own conduct. 5. Sometimes God changes you before He changes your circumstances. A difficult season can expose impatience, strengthen perseverance, deepen humility, and teach you to depend on God. This does not mean every hardship was sent by God or that injustice should be accepted without action. It means that even in painful circumstances, we can seek wisdom and allow God to shape our response. Remember: The purpose of Christian growth is not merely to become successful in the eyes of people, but to become faithful in the sight of God. 7. QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION. Take a few moments to answer these questions honestly. 1. What is the greatest obstacle currently hindering my progress? 2. Am I blaming other people for problems that require me to change? 3. Have fear and procrastination prevented me from pursuing a worthwhile goal? 4. Do I surround myself with people who encourage wisdom and godly living? 5. Am I willing to receive correction when I make mistakes? 6. What practical skill do I need to develop? 7. Have I been consistent in prayer and the study of God's Word? 8. Am I pursuing success for God's glory or merely to impress people? 9. Have I allowed bitterness or the desire for revenge to distract me? 10. What one action will I take within the next 24 hours to move forward? Personal challenge: Write down one obstacle, one Bible verse, one practical action, and one person who can help hold you accountable. Then begin. 8. POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS. Find a quiet place, open your heart to God, and pray with faith and understanding. Prayer 1: Prayer for divine wisdom Scripture: James 1:5 Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, grant me wisdom to recognise the obstacles standing in my way. Help me distinguish between spiritual opposition, harmful influences, personal weaknesses, and circumstances that require patience. Teach me to make decisions that honour You. Amen. Prayer 2: Prayer against fear and discouragement Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 Father, deliver me from the fear of failure, the fear of rejection, and the fear of beginning again. When a strategy fails, give me wisdom to adjust. Do not allow temporary disappointment to destroy my commitment to what is right. Strengthen me to continue faithfully. Amen. Prayer 7: Prayer against bitterness and revenge Scripture: Romans 12:19–21 Father, heal every wound caused by rejection, betrayal, and injustice. Help me release the desire for revenge and trust You with matters beyond my control. Give me courage to seek justice through appropriate means while refusing to become like those who have wronged me. Let love, truth, and wisdom guide my response. Amen. Prayer 8: Prayer for the fulfilment of God's purpose Scripture: Philippians 1:6 Father, let my life bring glory to Your name. Help me discover and fulfil the purpose for which You have called me. Give me wisdom to use my opportunities, resources, and abilities responsibly. May my success become a blessing to my family, my community, and everyone You bring across my path. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen. 9. PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS OF FAITH. Declare these words with confidence, remembering that biblical faith rests on God's character and promises rather than on human wishes alone. 1. By God's grace, I will not surrender to fear and discouragement. 2. I receive wisdom to recognise and overcome the obstacles before me. 3. I will develop discipline, integrity, and excellence in my work. 4. I will not allow criticism to distract me from worthwhile and godly responsibilities. 5. I will learn from my mistakes and grow through difficult seasons. 6. I will pursue success without sacrificing my faith or character. 7. I will choose my relationships wisely and remain open to godly correction. 8. I will use my gifts and opportunities to serve others. 9. I will reject bitterness and refuse to live for revenge. 10. By God's help, I will remain faithful to His purpose for my life. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen! 10. STRONG CLOSING: STOP FIGHTING DISTRACTIONS AND START BUILDING YOUR FUTURE! Beloved, as we conclude this message, remember that success is not achieved by prayer alone, hard work alone, or connections alone. A responsible Christian life brings faith, wisdom, diligence, integrity, and perseverance together. Joseph did not allow betrayal to destroy his future. Daniel did not abandon his devotion to God under pressure. Nehemiah did not allow ridicule to stop the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls. Paul did not allow hardship to silence his commitment to the gospel. Their experiences teach us that opposition does not have to determine the outcome of our lives. You may have experienced disappointment. You may have been rejected, misunderstood, or discouraged. Perhaps you have made mistakes that delayed your progress. But your next chapter can begin with a wiser decision. Stop spending all your energy asking who is against you. Begin asking what God wants you to learn, what you need to change, and what responsible action you must take. If you have been lazy, become diligent. If you have been fearful, take a courageous step. If you have been bitter, seek healing. If you have lacked knowledge, become a learner. If you have been inconsistent, establish a routine. If you have been distracted, return to your assignment. And if you have been trusting in your own strength alone, return your heart to God. Remember Nehemiah's example: he prayed, planned, worked, and refused to be distracted from his assignment. You can do the same in your own circumstances. Your goal is not to prove everyone wrong. Your goal is to live faithfully, grow in wisdom, serve others, and fulfil the responsibilities God has entrusted to you. YOUR CALL TO ACTION. Before today ends, do three things: 1. Identify one enemy of your progress. 2. Choose one practical step to overcome it. 3. Commit that step to God in prayer and begin taking action. Do not wait for tomorrow to practise the discipline you need today. Do not wait for everyone to believe in you before you begin doing what is right. Do not allow yesterday's failure to prevent today's obedience. Rise in faith. Walk in wisdom. Work with excellence. Remain faithful to God. May the Lord grant you wisdom to overcome obstacles, courage to face opposition, discipline to use your opportunities, and grace to fulfil His purpose for your life.
