Christ is Alive in Us
If I think that repentance from sins is what made me a Christian, I have fallen into several grave errors. What made me a Christian is the birth from above, which is not repentance, but the renewal of being; because those who are born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, are consequently not those who decided by will to repent. Those who are born not of the will of man, i.e., as a result of marriage, are not born biologically, but are born of God, established by our Lord Jesus Christ to be the "firstborn among many brethren" (Rom 8:29).
• Christ is in us; because without His presence in us, we are not sons, for nothing makes us sons of God except the indwelling of Christ in us.
• Christ is in us; because according to our prayers: "He is the resurrection of us all and the life of us all."
• He is in us divinely; because He is God, and He is in us humanly; because He transfers from His humanity, which is alive by union with His divinity, to us immortality and deathlessness, and before this and that, love.
• He transfers to us the anointing which He received from the Father, i.e., the Holy Spirit. And He places this anointing in us so that we may learn from the Holy Spirit how to live, and how the Spirit establishes us in the incarnate Son (2 Cor 1:21).
