• UNDERSTANDING THE TRAVAIL OF ZION
The Burden of Redemption, the Battle for Destiny, and the Travail of a Nation.

What is the travail of Zion, and why must Zion travail?

In this profound biblical teaching, Evang. David Eyoh examines the origins, history, purpose, and spiritual significance of Zion's travail, tracing its foundations to the Fall of Man and the subsequent corruption, bondage, and groaning of creation.

Drawing from Genesis 3, Genesis 4:26, and Romans 8:18–23, this message explores the spiritual crisis that necessitated God's redemptive intervention and the continuing responsibility of God's people in His divine programme.

THREE MAJOR PURPOSES OF ZION'S TRAVAIL

    1. Spiritual Emancipation and Redemption

Discover the relationship between humanity's bondage to sin, death, and corruption and the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Through Isaiah 66:7–9, Isaiah 61:1–3, and other biblical passages, this teaching examines the distinction between Zion's travail and ordinary human experiences of travail.

It also explores the biblical passages concerning Christ's proclamation to the spirits in prison and the extraordinary events associated with His death and resurrection.

    Scriptures: Isaiah 66:7–9; Isaiah 61:1–3; 1 Peter 3:19; Psalm 24:7–10; Matthew 27:50–53.

    2. Spiritual Authority and the Fulfilment of Divine Purpose

Why is spiritual travail necessary for fulfilling divine assignments and actualising destiny?

Explore the relationship between divine calling, spiritual empowerment, skill, leadership, and the fulfilment of God's purposes. From Israel's calling as a kingdom of priests to the skilled individuals entrusted with specialised assignments, this teaching considers how divine purpose requires preparation and faithful stewardship.

    Scriptures: Exodus 19:6; Genesis 4:19–22; 1 Kings 5:6; Exodus 31:1–6.

    3. The Travail of Zion in Hostile Environments

What happens when God's people are called to fulfil their divine assignments in hostile environments?

Using biblical references to Ishmael, Kedar, conflict, and the pursuit of peace, this teaching examines the challenges of fulfilling divine purpose amid opposition, insecurity, political hostility, and social instability.

The message also reflects on Nigeria's historical and contemporary challenges, including colonial exploitation, resource extraction, economic dependence, and the urgent responsibility to build a more productive and just society.

Scriptures: Genesis 16:12; Song of Solomon 1:5–6; Psalm 120:5–7; Jeremiah 6:14.

    THE CENTRAL MESSAGE

Zion's travail must be understood within the broader biblical story of redemption, divine purpose, spiritual responsibility, and the struggle to fulfil God's will in a fallen world.

This teaching invites Christians, intercessors, ministers, missionaries, and Christian leaders to examine the spiritual and practical responsibilities associated with their calling and the transformation of their communities and nations.

  • THE POST-RESURRECTION CALLING

Jesus didn’t rise from the dead so His followers could simply go back to life as usual.

After the resurrection came a calling.

    First came the encounter.

The disciples saw the risen Christ. Their grief turned into hope, their fear into faith, and their confusion into conviction.

    Then came restoration.

Peter had denied Jesus three times. Yet Jesus met him again, restored him, and entrusted him with the care of His sheep.

    “Feed my sheep.”
    —John 21:17

    Then came empowerment.

Jesus breathed on His disciples and said:

    “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
    —John 20:22

    And then came the sending.

“As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
    —John 20:21

They were not merely called to know that Jesus was alive.

They were called to witness that He was alive.

And that same pattern challenges us today:

    Jesus encounters us.
    Jesus restores us.
    Jesus transforms us.
    Jesus empowers us.
    Jesus sends us.

Your past does not disqualify you from being used by God.

Peter’s failure didn’t have the final word.

His encounter with the risen Jesus did.

You don’t have to be perfect to be a witness.

You need to be surrendered to Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and willing to say:

“Here I am, Lord. Send me.”
    —Isaiah 6:8

The resurrection wasn’t the end of the disciples’ story.

It was the beginning of their mission.

And because Jesus is alive, we have a Gospel to proclaim, a Savior to follow, and a world to reach.

    Encounter Him.
    Follow Him.
    Be transformed by Him.
Then go and tell others about Him.

Jesus saves. Jesus restores. Jesus sends.

  • Good morning, brethren. I hope you had a nice weekend.

    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY OCTOBER 5, 2O26.
    "POST- TRAUMATIC GROWTH (2)"

‘…God intended it all for good…’ Genesis 50:20 NLT

RISING TO a challenge reveals hidden abilities within you that otherwise would have remained dormant. Just as you find out what’s inside a tube of toothpaste when it gets squeezed, adversity reveals what you’re made of. Sometimes we say, ‘I could never go through what that person went through. I would die.’ Then you go through it, and guess what? Your heart keeps beating. Your world goes on. You don’t know what you’re capable of until you have to cope. Wise people have always understood the connection between suffering and growth. Meng Tzu, the Chinese sage, said, ‘When heaven is about to confer a great responsibility on any man it will place obstacles in the path of his deeds so as to stimulate his mind, harden his nature, and improve wherever he is incompetent.’ God could have let Abraham stay in the comfort of Ur, and Moses in the splendour of Pharaoh’s courts. He could have kept Daniel out of the lions’ den, Nehemiah out of captivity, Jonah out of the whale, John the Baptist away from Herod, Esther from being threatened, Jeremiah from being rejected, and Paul from being shipwrecked. But He didn’t. In fact, God used each of these trials to bring them closer to Himself—to produce perseverance, character and hope. It’s said, ‘The school of hard knocks produces the greatest scholars.’ And guess who the teacher is? Adversity! You either face it with God, or without Him. And those without God are watching you. When they see your faith sustain you and God bring you through, they’ll get interested in what you have to say. And not before!

    Calvary greetings, brethren.

Kindly accept my sincere apologies for the late posting of today's devotionals.

I had power challenges after returning from a trip yesterday. Every power generating gadget in my house was down and my phone was out of charges. It was a trial I cannot remember to have ever faced. But the Lord has taken the glory.

Thank you for your understanding and God bless.

    *TESTED AND TRIUMPHANT*

    *TEXT:* MARK 1:9-15.

9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

*Timeless Truth:*_"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin"_ (Hebrews 4:15).

    *INTRODUCTION*

The more sensitive, influential or great a position of responsibility, service or blessing is, the more the stringent conditions for those who will occupy the position. This is true in the world. It is a satanic deception to think that God is so liberal and desperate that He admits every Tom **** and Harry for His purpose. Before Abraham could be the Father of faith with generational blessings, he passed through protracted uncommon tests and trial of faith. Every person who will be used of God or receive sustained uncommon blessings from God must rise up to live a life that is transparent and sanctified because grace does not replace personal responsibility.

    *1.Open Heavens for Beloved Children*

    a. Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, humbled and submitted Himself to water baptism though He was God in human flesh. He gave a strong example that no matter how high we may be, submission to the Word and will of God must be total. Nobody is above the Word of God except the deceived, proud and rebellious. *"Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan"*.
    b. Humble obedience and submission to the Word and will of God always attract divine blessings. In the case of Jesus, He experienced open heavens in His ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit. *"He saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him"*. Experiencing open heavens in prayer, gifts and blessings of God cum divine approval and success in life and ministry is conditioned on diligent and humble obedience to His Word and will without being selective. The humble and obedient are always well beloved of God. *"Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased"*.

    *Question*

Are you fully obedient to His Word or are you cheating yourself by being selective?

*2. Obedience and Holiness of Baptized Christians*

    a. Jesus was not led to fast for 40 days and night so as to receive power for miracles. The Holy Spirit had descended on Him like a dove after His water baptism. *"And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him"*. Moses did not fast to receive the power of God. Before he was made to fast for 40 days on mount Sinai God had used him to perform great miracles in Egypt. The same with Elijah who fasted for forty days. Elijah only fasted for forty days towards the end of his ministry after he had commanded fire from heaven and performed many miracles. In fact, Moses and Elijah fasted for 40 days without planning for it. The question is, why was Jesus led to the wilderness? *"And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts"*. To be in a lonely and hidden place is a great temptation for someone with global ministry awaiting Him. For someone with the mighty power of God to be tested to fall down and show He has power is very tempting. For someone who was without food for forty days and being tempted on food matters is hard. So Jesus faced tests on pride of life, lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes.
    b. At times we are put in a very difficult environment and situation in life to be tested without our knowledge. It is the victorious that would be approved of God for impactful ministry. In the midst of the test, no matter how grievous, God would always give the needed grace to overcome if we are determined to. In the case of Jesus, the ministering of angels was an encouragement for Him to move on. *"And the angels ministered unto him"*. Anybody who falls in the day of tests, trials and temptations has himself to blame for not making use of the grace of God available. *"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13).

    *Question*

Are you determined to pass any test and overcome any temptation that may come your way?

*3. Overcoming Hindrances to be Best in Your Calling*

John the Baptist had been a forerunner of Jesus and he made the work easier for Christ. In fact, some of the disciples of Jesus followed Him because of the testimony of John the Baptist concerning Jesus. But now John the Baptist was put in prison. There are times our obedience to God is threatened by loss of loved ones, unexpected calamity, distracting challenges, disgraceful failures among others. Jesus did not allow that to hinder Him from what God sent Him to do. Jesus, rather than going into hiding because of the hostile environment decided to relocate and still continue with His God- given ministry. *"Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God"*.

    *Question*

What can you learn from Jesus commitment to God's purpose for His life?

    *Prayer Points*

1.Father, I have resolved to do away with selective obedience for full obedience. Give me abundant grace .
2.I want to pass my tests and overcome my temptations. Help me to always make use of the means of grace available .
3.Lord, I want to experience Your manifold blessings all the time. Keep me from acts and thoughts that will deny me free access to the throne of grace .
4.Give Your children the grace and the humility to always triumph in every test, trials and temptations.

    *OBTAIN HEAVEN'S ENDORSEMENT* 🫵🏽🏽‍🏽‍🏽🏽‍🏽

    ```TEXT:MARK 1:9-15```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (MARK 1:10, 11).*_

*From the very beginning, God's plan for redemption unfolded with unmistakable clarity, focusing on Jesus, the Saviour. When He rose from the waters of baptism, He did not rise alone. The Father and the Holy Spirit united to bear witness to and endorse His earthly life and ministry, ensuring that nothing would hinder heaven's ultimate purpose for mankind.*

*Remarkably, Jesus began His ministry only after receiving the Father's approval and the Spirit's empowerment. Heaven opened, the Father spoke, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in a visible form, establishing for us a divine pattern for ministry. Christ's experience teaches that those called to God's work must first fulfil all righteousness through genuine salvation, scriptural water baptism, sanctification, and then heaven's endorsement through the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This is the way to secure the support of the Trinity and receive the assurance of success in life. Believers must avoid unprepared and presumptuous assumptions of calling or rushing into ministry without getting the endorsement of heaven.*

*Just as Jesus overcame Satan's relentless temptations after being empowered by the Spirit, believers can only triumph over the challenges of their calling when clothed with the power of the Holy Ghost. This divine confirmation was not just a declaration; it was heaven's undeniable seal upon Christ's mission. It confirmed that Jesus was not merely another prophet but _The Prophet_ promised by God, the fulfilment of divine prophecy and the embodiment of God's redemptive plan.*

*Christ's ministry transcends nations, ethnic groups, and boundaries, reaching every tribe and tongue. His mission was, and still is, for you. No one who calls upon Him is ever rejected, for His heart remains open to all repentant souls seeking His kingdom. Christ has delegated the same power to believers to accomplish and exceed what He was able to accomplish within the short period of His earthly ministry. In Him, we find life, purpose and eternal fulfilment.*

    ```MICAH 7:18-20```
    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity..." (Micah 7:18a).*_

God is righteous and holy altogether. Any child that wants God's blessing and favour must be holy like God. The Bible gives us many examples of people and nations who were punished by God because of their sins, many among the children of Israel were bitten to death by fiery serpents (Numbers 21:6).

The idol-worshipping people of Canaan and their wicked kings were wiped away because they rejected God (Deuteronomy 2:21). Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, ate grass like an animal for seven years (Daniel 4:33), the children who mocked Elisha, the prophet of God, were devoured by bears (2 Kings 2:24). Herod was eaten up of worms (Acts 12:23). God hates and punishes sin. His righteous nature remains the same today.

Even though God does not delight in iniquity, yet, God pardons iniquity and He delights in showing mercy. Our Bible passage refers to Him as the only One who pardons iniquity, who passes by the transgression of His heritage, who retains not His anger but delights in mercy and have compassion upon us.

*You must repent from your bad ways and ask God for forgiveness. Promise Him that you will never go back to your sins. God will pardon your iniquity.*

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. ⏤ Colossians 3:17

There is no wonder more supernatural and divine in the life of a believer than the mystery and ministry of prayer. ⏤ A.W. Tozer

God, as we start another workweek, we ask for Your blessing. Help us carry the rest and lessons of Sunday with us as we face the busy days ahead. Even if we’re too busy for quiet reflection, may the memories of Sunday inspire us throughout the day. Let the songs and prayers of yesterday keep lifting our hearts as we work.

Help us live out what we learned yesterday in our everyday lives. We want our faith to be real in everything we do. We’ve caught glimpses of Your beauty, and now we want that beauty to shine through us. We’ve read Your commandments, and we want to follow them so that our lives reflect Your goodness.

But it’s not always easy to do what’s right. We make good resolutions on Sunday, but during the week, it’s easy to forget them and fall back into old habits. We need more of Your grace to help us stay faithful and do our best. Our spirit is willing, but we often struggle to follow through. Strengthen us, God, so we can keep our promises and live out our intentions to obey and serve You.

Let the spirit of Sunday carry into our week, making it bright with love, truth, and goodness. Help us not to fail in our work, our duties, or our challenges. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Bible In A Year: 2 Sam 7:18 – 11:27, John 2:1-11, Ps 110, Pro 23:6-9. [04/10, 2:23 pm] Pastor Attah: *SINCERE APOLOGIES* Calvary greetings, brethren. [04/10, 7:08 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* MONDAY, 5TH OCTOBER, 2026. *TESTED AND TRIUMPHANT* *TEXT:* MARK 1:9-15. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. 13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. 14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. *Timeless Truth:*_"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin"_ (Hebrews 4:15). *INTRODUCTION* The more sensitive, influential or great a position of responsibility, service or blessing is, the more the stringent conditions for those who will occupy the position. This is true in the world. It is a satanic deception to think that God is so liberal and desperate that He admits every Tom Dick and Harry for His purpose. Before Abraham could be the Father of faith with generational blessings, he passed through protracted uncommon tests and trial of faith. Every person who will be used of God or receive sustained uncommon blessings from God must rise up to live a life that is transparent and sanctified because grace does not replace personal responsibility. *1.Open Heavens for Beloved Children* a. *Question* Are you fully obedient to His Word or are you cheating yourself by being selective? *2. Obedience and Holiness of Baptized Christians* a. *Question* Are you determined to pass any test and overcome any temptation that may come your way? *3. Overcoming Hindrances to be Best in Your Calling* John the Baptist had been a forerunner of Jesus and he made the work easier for Christ. *Question* What can you learn from Jesus commitment to God's purpose for His life? *Prayer Points* 1.Father, I have resolved to do away with selective obedience for full obedience. Give me abundant grace 🙏. 2.I want to pass my tests and overcome my temptations. Help me to always make use of the means of grace available 🙏. 3.Lord, I want to experience Your manifold blessings all the time. Keep me from acts and thoughts that will deny me free access to the throne of grace 🙏. 4.Give Your children the grace and the humility to always triumph in every test, trials and temptations. *HYMN:* Count Me *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* LUKE 7-8. When He rose from the waters of baptism, He did not rise alone. The Father and the Holy Spirit united to bear witness to and endorse His earthly life and ministry, ensuring that nothing would hinder heaven's ultimate purpose for mankind.* *Remarkably, Jesus began His ministry only after receiving the Father's approval and the Spirit's empowerment. Believers must avoid unprepared and presumptuous assumptions of calling or rushing into ministry without getting the endorsement of heaven.* *Just as Jesus overcame Satan's relentless temptations after being empowered by the Spirit, believers can only triumph over the challenges of their calling when clothed with the power of the Holy Ghost. This divine confirmation was not just a declaration; it was heaven's undeniable seal upon Christ's mission. It confirmed that Jesus was not merely another prophet but _The Prophet_ promised by God, the fulfilment of divine prophecy and the embodiment of God's redemptive plan.* *Christ's ministry transcends nations, ethnic groups, and boundaries, reaching every tribe and tongue. His mission was, and still is, for you. No one who calls upon Him is ever rejected, for His heart remains open to all repentant souls seeking His kingdom. Christ has delegated the same power to believers to accomplish and exceed what He was able to accomplish within the short period of His earthly ministry. In Him, we find life, purpose and eternal fulfilment.* ✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` _*What makes a difference in life is neither skills nor ability, but heaven's endorsement.*_ 📜📜```THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:``` *LUKE 7-8*📜📜 Obtain Heaven's Endorsement https://dailymanna.app// *RECOMMENDED GOSPEL HYMNS AND SONGS - GHS 154: GIVE ME A DOUBLE PORTION; GHS 153: WITH SIGNS FOLLOWING; AND GHS 257: JESUS SEND MORE LABOURERS* *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#DailyManna5thOctober2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS] [04/10, 7:43 pm] Pastor Attah: ```DEEPER CHRISTIAN LIFE MINISTRY``` _*HIGHER EVERYD🅰️Y: (A DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE FOR YOUTHS)*_ ✍🏽👩🏻‍💼🌻 🍇🙏🏽🛰🚀🔬📚 ```MONDAY 5TH OCTOBER, 2026``` *WORSHIP MEN'S WORKS? - 1* 🎚️📓📖🫵🏽🙋🏽‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️🧜🏽‍♀️🧞🧜🏽‍♂️⚠️‼️🛑❌⚖️🧎🏽🧎🏽‍♀️🙏🏽 📜📜```TEXT:DANIEL 3:1-12```📜📜 📖``` MEMORY VERSE:``` _*"There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed–nego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up" (DANIEL 3:12).*_ *The Israelites were commanded to bring up their children with religious education based on God's Word, which includes the Ten Commandments. Hear this, "And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up" (Deuteronomy 6:7).* *So, before Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego went to Babylon, they had learnt that Jehovah God forbids idol worship. They stood firm upon God's word in a strange land. The great king, Nebuchadnezzar, made a golden image which everyone in the land should bow to at the hearing of certain music sounds or risk being burnt in the fire. However, all around bowed, except Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.* *All Christians are also expected to worship only God today, no matter the threat. (Micah 7:18a).*_ 📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖📖 God is righteous and holy altogether. God will pardon your iniquity.* 🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥 ```🅿️rayer:``` _*God, who pardons iniquity, forgive me all my sins.*_ 🙏🏽 ```📖 Further Reading:``` *Proverbs 28:11-13* God Pardons Iniquity https://dailymanna.app// *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#SincereMilk5thOctober2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS]. 2. Morning Prayer for today. MP.i. Morning Prayer And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. ⏤ Colossians 3:17 There is no wonder more supernatural and divine in the life of a believer than the mystery and ministry of prayer. ⏤ A.W. Tozer God, as we start another workweek, we ask for Your blessing. Amen. https://www.youdevotion.com/daily-prayer/miller/01/morning #taptapstudio #youdevotion.

  • Identity in Jesus Christ

Identity politics teaches us all the wrong lessons. It teaches us to focus on the “have’s” and the “have-not’s.” And the solutions it presents are anti-gospel and antichrist.

Instead of teaching the rich to be generous and humble, it teaches the poor to be covetous and entitled. Instead of teaching the Gentile to return the favor, concerning the oracles of God, it teaches the Christian Gentile to hate the unbelieving Jew. Instead of submission, women are taught empowerment, and men are taught toxicity.

Whatever God has established, Satan seeks to destroy. What God has defined and designed for our benefit is what we should pursue and defend. What Satan sells as an “identity” is a peel-and-stick “label,” and we have been trained to blame whoever rips that Band-Aid off. Fighting to defend a thousand foolish fractures is self-destructive. Conversely, whatever God has put together, let not man put asunder. Whatever separates us, differences real or imagined, ought to be brought together by the blood of Christ.

Whoever would stand against the blood of Christ, let this be clear, that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us;” while we were enemies and strangers, He sought to reconcile us to Himself. Yes, there are enemies of the cross of Christ, let us be clear-headed about that, and speak truth to repentance. There is no lasting reconciliation short of the cross of Christ, so let us not deceive anyone. Speak the truth in love.

Love good, humanity made in the image of God.
Hate evil, the devilry they adore.
    Call sinners to repentance.

  • Let’s stop playing word games with human life.

When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, people say:

    “You’re harming your baby.”

When she smokes, doctors warn that it can restrict fetal growth, cause premature birth, damage developing lungs and the brain, and increase the risk of infant death. The CDC even calls the child a “developing baby.”

But mention abortion and suddenly we are told:

    “It isn’t a baby.”
    “It’s just tissue.”
    “It’s healthcare.”
    “It’s empowerment.”

    Excuse me
did biology change according to whether the child was wanted?

Did alcohol become dangerous to “nothing”?

Does cigarette smoke cross the placenta to harm an imaginary baby?

If there is no developing human life to protect, why does the CDC say there is no known safe amount or safe time to drink alcohol during pregnancy?

Fertilization forms a human zygote, which then develops into an embryo. That is basic embryologynot religion, emotion, or political propaganda.

You cannot call the unborn child a baby when discussing prenatal vitamins, ultrasounds, alcohol, smoking, miscarriages, gender reveals, and fetal surgery but erase that child’s humanity the moment abortion enters the conversation.

    That is not consistency.

That is selective language designed to make an irreversible act easier to defend.

    Wanted or unwanted.
    Healthy or disabled.
    Convenient or inconvenient.
    Inside or outside the womb.

    Still human.

A mother deserves compassion, protection, resources, and genuine support—but supporting her should never require pretending another human life has no value.

Human worth does not depend upon being wanted.

Biology does not bend to feelings.

And intentionally ending a developing human life does not become empowerment simply because society found a more comfortable word for it.

    The contradiction is not complicated.

It is simply impossible to defend without changing the language halfway through the argument.

  • PROCESS — THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING

    PART 6

PETER: FROM FISHERMAN TO FISHER OF MEN

THE PROCESS OF IDENTITY, ENCOUNTER, FAILURE, RESTORATION AND PURPOSE

«“Jesus did not merely call Peter to do something different; He transformed the man who would do it.”»

    ---

    FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES

    Matthew 4:18–20 (KJV)

“And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.”

    Luke 5:10–11 (KJV)

“And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.”

    ---

    1. JESUS DID NOT SAY, “FOLLOW ME AND BECOME.”

HE SAID, “FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE.”

This is one of the deepest statements concerning process.

    Jesus did not say:

“Follow Me, and immediately become everything you are supposed to be.”

    He said:

    «“Follow me, and I will make you...”»

There is a making that happens after the calling.

There is a formation that happens after the encounter.

There is a process that happens after the decision to follow Jesus.

Peter was called while he was still a fisherman.

He was not already an apostle.

    He was not already mature.

    He was not already stable.

    He was not already perfected.

Jesus called him as he was, but Jesus did not intend to leave him as he was.

    THAT IS THE PROCESS.

Jesus accepts you where He finds you, but discipleship refuses to leave you where He found you.

    ---

    2. PETER STARTED WITH AN ORDINARY LIFE

    Peter was a fisherman.

His world revolved around boats, nets, water, fish, labour and survival.

Then Jesus entered his ordinary environment.

    This is important.

Peter did not first meet Jesus in a theological classroom.

    Jesus found him at work.

God often begins transformation in the middle of ordinary life.

You may think your present location is insignificant.

But God can enter your ordinary environment and introduce you to an extraordinary purpose.

Peter went to the sea to catch fish.

He encountered Jesus and discovered a larger assignment.

    THE BOAT WAS HIS PROFESSION.

    JESUS REVEALED HIS PURPOSE.

    ---

    3. JESUS SAW SOMETHING IN PETER THAT PETER HAD NOT YET BECOME

    Simon was his existing identity.

Peter was the identity Jesus would develop.

    Jesus eventually said:

    Matthew 16:18 (KJV)

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church...”

There was a prophetic dimension to the name.

Jesus was not merely describing Peter's present condition.

He was speaking into his becoming.

This gives us a powerful principle:

«God can address the person you are becoming while you are still wrestling with the person you have been.»

Sometimes God speaks to your future before your present life looks like it.

    ---

    4. THE FIRST PROCESS WAS LEAVING THE NETS

Peter could not follow Jesus while permanently holding onto the old system.

    Matthew 4:20 says:

“And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.”

The nets represented more than fishing equipment.

    They represented:

    - Familiarity.
    - Former identity.
    - Previous priorities.
    - Old security.
    - Previous routine.
    - A known way of life.

    Following Jesus required movement.

THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU CANNOT CARRY INTO YOUR NEXT SEASON.

Not everything from your old life is necessarily sinful.

Some things are simply no longer appropriate for the assignment ahead.

A net can be useful to a fisherman and become an obstacle to a disciple.

WHAT WAS AN ASSET IN ONE SEASON CAN BECOME A DISTRACTION IN ANOTHER.

    ---

    5. JESUS WAS NOT ONLY CHANGING PETER'S PROFESSION.

    HE WAS CHANGING HIS PURPOSE.

Peter knew how to catch fish.

Jesus was teaching him how to catch men.

    Peter understood nets.

    Jesus was teaching him people.

    Peter understood the sea.

Jesus was introducing him to the kingdom.

Peter knew how to labour with his hands.

Jesus was developing his spiritual understanding.

This is the difference between occupation and assignment.

Your skill may describe what you know how to do.

Your calling reveals what God wants to accomplish through you.

    ---

    6. PETER HAD ZEAL BEFORE HE HAD MATURITY

    Peter was passionate.

    He was outspoken.

    He was courageous.

He was often the first to respond.

    Sometimes that was powerful.

Sometimes it got him into trouble.

Peter's problem was not that he had no passion.

His problem was that his passion sometimes moved faster than his understanding.

This is a major dimension of process:

ZEAL MUST BE DEVELOPED INTO MATURITY.

A person can genuinely love Jesus and still need development.

A person can be sincere and still be immature.

A person can have revelation and still need character formation.

A person can be gifted and still require discipline.

    ---

    7. PETER WALKED ON WATER — BUT THE STORY WAS NOT ONLY ABOUT THE MIRACLE

Matthew 14 records one of Peter's extraordinary experiences.

Jesus came walking on the sea.

    Peter said:

“Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”

    Jesus said:

    “Come.”

Peter stepped out of the boat.

For a moment, he walked on water.

    That was remarkable.

But then he saw the wind.

    Fear entered.

    He began to sink.

    And Jesus rescued him.

    WHAT WAS JESUS DEVELOPING?

Not merely Peter's ability to walk on water.

    Jesus was developing Peter's faith.

    The miracle became a classroom.

    Peter learned:

    - To respond to Jesus.
    - To step beyond familiar territory.
    - To trust God's word.
    - To recognize the danger of shifting his focus.
    - To cry out when he needed help.
    - To depend upon Jesus.

SOMETIMES THE MIRACLE IS ALSO A CLASSROOM.

God can use supernatural experiences to teach natural spiritual principles.

    ---

    8. PETER LEARNED THAT FAITH MUST REMAIN FIXED ON JESUS

Peter was walking while his attention was fixed on Jesus.

When he shifted his attention toward the storm, fear affected his movement.

This gives us a powerful principle:

WHAT CAPTURES YOUR ATTENTION CAN INFLUENCE YOUR DIRECTION.

The process of becoming requires learning where to fix your gaze.

    Hebrews 12:2 says:

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...”

The Christian journey is not sustained merely by looking at circumstances.

    We look unto Jesus.

    ---

    9. PETER RECEIVED REVELATION — BUT REVELATION STILL REQUIRED DEVELOPMENT

Matthew 16 records one of Peter's greatest moments.

    Jesus asked:

“Whom say ye that I am?”

    Peter answered:

“Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

    Jesus commended him.

But shortly afterward, Peter resisted Jesus' explanation of His coming suffering.

The same Peter who received revelation struggled to understand God's method.

    This teaches us:

REVELATION IN ONE AREA DOES NOT MEAN COMPLETE MATURITY IN EVERY AREA.

You can understand one thing deeply and still need growth somewhere else.

Never allow one spiritual breakthrough to convince you that you no longer need development.

    ---

    10. PETER HAD TO LEARN THAT GOD'S KINGDOM DOES NOT OPERATE ACCORDING TO HUMAN EXPECTATIONS

Peter expected certain things from the Messiah.

But Jesus revealed a Messiah who would suffer, die and rise again.

    Peter struggled with the idea.

This was another layer of transformation.

Jesus was not merely changing Peter's behaviour.

    He was changing Peter's thinking.

PROCESS CHANGES THE WAY YOU SEE.

Romans 12:2 speaks of being transformed by the renewing of the mind.

Sometimes God must first change your understanding before He can effectively change your actions.

    ---

    11. PETER'S CONFIDENCE WAS TESTED

    Peter made a strong declaration.

    Matthew 26:33 (KJV)

“Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.”

Peter believed he was stronger than he eventually proved to be.

This is another stage of process:

GOD SOMETIMES ALLOWS YOU TO DISCOVER THAT YOUR CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF IS NOT THE SAME AS DEPENDENCE ON HIM.

Peter sincerely believed his own declaration.

But the coming test would reveal the difference between:

WHAT PETER THOUGHT HE COULD DO

    and

WHAT PETER COULD ACTUALLY DO IN HIS OWN STRENGTH.

    ---

    12. THE FIRE REVEALED WHAT THE BOAT HAD NOT

When Jesus was arrested, Peter followed at a distance.

    Then came the courtyard.

    A servant girl recognized him.

    Peter denied knowing Jesus.

    Again.

    And again.

    And again.

    Matthew 26:75 (KJV)

“And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the **** crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.”

    Peter failed.

This is an uncomfortable part of his process.

    But it is necessary.

Because sometimes the process includes discovering weaknesses you did not know were there.

    ---

    13. FAILURE CAN REVEAL WHAT STILL NEEDS TO BE HEALED

Peter's denial was not the end of Peter.

It exposed an area that needed transformation.

    This distinction is important:

    FAILURE IS AN EVENT.

IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BECOME YOUR IDENTITY.

    Peter failed Jesus.

But Peter was not a permanent failure.

    He fell.

But Jesus had not abandoned him.

    He wept.

    But restoration was coming.

    ---

    14. JESUS DID NOT CANCEL PETER

After the resurrection, Jesus deliberately restored Peter.

This is one of the most beautiful parts of the process.

    John 21:15 (KJV)

“So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?”

    Jesus asked him three times.

    “Lovest thou me?”

    Then Jesus gave him responsibility:

    «“Feed my lambs.”»

    «“Feed my sheep.”»

    «“Feed my sheep.”»

Peter had denied Jesus three times.

Now Jesus gave Peter an opportunity to reaffirm his love and receive renewed assignment.

    GRACE DOES NOT IGNORE FAILURE.

GRACE RESTORES THE PERSON WHO REPENTS.

    ---

    15. JESUS RESTORED PETER BEFORE USING PETER PUBLICLY

    This is significant.

Jesus did not merely tell Peter:

    “Forget what happened.”

    He dealt with Peter personally.

Restoration came before the public expression of the next phase of his assignment.

THERE ARE THINGS GOD WANTS TO HEAL IN YOU BEFORE HE WANTS TO FLOW THROUGH YOU.

    God cares about the vessel.

    God cares about the heart.

    God cares about motives.

    God cares about wounds.

    God cares about character.

Because the assignment may become dangerous if the vessel remains broken in areas that have not been surrendered to God.

    ---

    16. PETER'S PROCESS DID NOT END AT RESTORATION

    Restoration was not the destination.

    Peter still had to wait.

Jesus told the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they received power from on high.

    Acts 1:8 (KJV)

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...”

    Peter needed more than:

    - Passion.
    - Experience.
    - Personality.
    - Natural courage.
    - Religious knowledge.

He needed the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

    GOD'S ASSIGNMENT REQUIRES GOD'S EMPOWERMENT.

    ---

    17. PENTECOST REVEALED A DIFFERENT PETER

    Then Acts 2 happened.

    The Holy Ghost came.

    Peter stood up.

The man who had once trembled before a servant girl now stood before a multitude and boldly proclaimed Christ.

    Acts 2:14 (KJV)

“But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice...”

    This is transformation.

The process had produced a different expression of the same man.

Peter had not lost his boldness.

    God had refined it.

His natural personality had been submitted to divine purpose.

JESUS DID NOT DESTROY PETER'S PERSONALITY.

    JESUS REDEEMED AND DIRECTED IT.

    ---

    18. THE MAN WHO ONCE DENIED JESUS NOW PREACHED JESUS

This is one of the strongest testimonies of transformation.

Peter's past became evidence of grace.

The courtyard where he denied Christ did not become the final chapter.

The upper room became the beginning of a new expression.

And on Pentecost, Peter preached Christ.

    Thousands responded.

    ACTS 2:41

“Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

The fisherman had become a fisher of men.

Jesus' original words were becoming reality.

“FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN.”

    ---

    19. THE PROCESS PRODUCED COURAGE

Peter and John later stood before religious authorities.

    Acts 4:13 (KJV)

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John... they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.”

Notice the source of the transformation.

    “THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS.”

This is the heart of the entire Process series.

The ultimate process of becoming is not simply:

    trying harder.

    It is:

becoming more like Christ through relationship with Christ.

The greatest evidence of transformation is not merely what you can do.

It is who you are becoming because you have been with Jesus.

    ---

    20. PETER'S PROCESS WAS CHRIST-CENTRED

    Peter's story is not primarily:

“Look at how great Peter became.”

    It is:

“LOOK AT WHAT JESUS DID WITH PETER.”

    The glory belongs to Christ.

    Peter had weaknesses.

    Jesus transformed him.

    Peter failed.

    Jesus restored him.

    Peter lacked understanding.

    Jesus taught him.

    Peter was afraid.

    Jesus strengthened him.

    Peter had natural ability.

    Jesus redirected it.

    Peter had a calling.

    Jesus developed him.

THE MAKER OF THE VESSEL DESERVES THE GLORY FOR THE VESSEL'S TRANSFORMATION.

    ---

    21. PETER TEACHES US ABOUT IDENTITY

Peter's journey can be summarized as:

SIMON → FOLLOWER → DISCIPLE → BROKEN MAN → RESTORED DISCIPLE → EMPOWERED WITNESS → LEADER

The process was not simply external.

    It was internal.

    Jesus was answering the question:

    “WHO ARE YOU BECOMING?”

    This is why process matters.

Because God does not merely want you to have:

    a ministry.

    He wants you to become:

    a minister.

God does not merely want you to have:

    influence.

    He wants you to become:

    trustworthy with influence.

God does not merely want you to have:

    a platform.

    He wants you to become:

a vessel capable of carrying what happens on the platform.

    ---

    22. PETER'S PROCESS HAD DIFFERENT CLASSROOMS

    THE BOAT

    Taught him to leave familiarity.

    THE NET

    Taught him surrender.

    THE STORM

    Taught him faith.

    THE REVELATION

    Taught him spiritual perception.

    THE GARDEN

    Tested his response under pressure.

    THE COURTYARD

    Exposed his weakness.

    THE WEEPING

    Brought him to brokenness.

    THE SHORE

    Brought restoration.

    THE UPPER ROOM

    Taught him waiting.

    PENTECOST

    Introduced empowerment.

    THE TEMPLE

    Introduced public ministry.

    PERSECUTION

    Tested courage.

Every environment became part of his development.

    ---

    23. SOMETIMES GOD USES YOUR LOWEST MOMENT TO PREPARE YOUR GREATEST MESSAGE

Peter's failure gave him an understanding of weakness.

A man who has discovered his own weakness can become more compassionate toward the weaknesses of others.

This does not mean we deliberately fail.

It means that when failure happens and we surrender it to Christ, God can redeem the experience.

Your wound does not have to remain wasted.

Your failure does not have to become your identity.

Your weakness can become an area where the grace of God becomes visible.

    2 CORINTHIANS 12:9

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

    ---

    24. PETER LEARNED THAT LOVE MUST PRODUCE RESPONSIBILITY

    Jesus did not merely ask:

    “Peter, do you love Me?”

    He connected love with responsibility:

    «“Feed my lambs.”»

    «“Feed my sheep.”»

    This means:

LOVE FOR JESUS MUST EVENTUALLY EXPRESS ITSELF IN SERVICE TO PEOPLE.

If I say I love Jesus, how do I treat His people?

If I say I love Christ, am I willing to serve?

If I say I love the Shepherd, do I care about His sheep?

The process of becoming Christlike must affect our relationship with people.

    ---

    25. THE PETER PRINCIPLE

We can summarize Peter's journey this way:

    ENCOUNTER → FOLLOWING → MAKING → TESTING → FAILURE → RESTORATION → EMPOWERMENT → MATURITY → IMPACT

    Notice something:

The calling came before the maturity.

    Jesus called Peter first.

    Then Jesus made Peter.

This is why you must never confuse:

    CALLING

    with

    COMPLETION.

You can be called and still be under construction.

    ---

    26. YOU CAN BE CALLED AND STILL NEED HEALING

You can be gifted and still need character.

You can be anointed and still need discipline.

You can preach and still need transformation.

You can lead and still need correction.

You can be used by God and still need to grow.

You can have revelation and still need maturity.

    Peter proves it.

DO NOT USE YOUR CALLING AS AN EXCUSE TO AVOID YOUR PROCESS.

    Instead say:

«“Lord, whatever You must form in me to make me useful for Your purpose, form it.”»

    ---

    27. WHAT SEASON ARE YOU IN?

    ARE YOU AT THE BOAT?

Jesus may be calling you to leave familiarity.

    ARE YOU IN THE STORM?

    Keep your eyes on Jesus.

ARE YOU IN A SEASON OF REVELATION?

Remember that revelation must become maturity.

    HAVE YOU FAILED?

Run toward Jesus, not away from Him.

ARE YOU IN THE RESTORATION SEASON?

Allow Him to heal what happened.

    ARE YOU WAITING?

Do not rush the upper room.

    ARE YOU EXPERIENCING EMPOWERMENT?

Use it to glorify Christ and serve people.

ARE PEOPLE BEGINNING TO NOTICE YOU?

    Remember where Jesus found you.

    ---

    28. DON'T DESPISE YOUR “NOT YET”

Peter was not yet what he would become.

But Jesus knew what he would become.

Perhaps you are looking at yourself and saying:

    “I am not there yet.”

    That may be true.

    But:

“NOT YET” DOES NOT MEAN “NEVER.”

    Peter was not yet mature.

    Peter was not yet stable.

Peter was not yet fully courageous.

Peter was not yet ready for Pentecost.

    But Jesus was not finished.

    PHILIPPIANS 1:6

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

    ---

    29. THE DANGER OF COMPARING YOUR PROCESS

    Peter had his own process.

    Paul had his own process.

    David had his own process.

    Joseph had his own process.

    Abraham had his own process.

    Moses had his own process.

    You also have a process.

Do not compare your chapter three with somebody else's chapter twenty.

Do not compare your hidden season with another person's public manifestation.

Do not become frustrated because somebody else appears further ahead.

GOD KNOWS WHAT HE IS FORMING IN YOU.

Your process may look different because your assignment is different.

    ---

    30. THE PROCESS IS PRODUCING SOMETHING

What did Jesus produce in Peter?

    BOLDNESS.

    HUMILITY.

    DEPENDENCE.

    COMPASSION.

    COURAGE.

    LEADERSHIP.

    SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING.

    RESPONSIBILITY.

    ENDURANCE.

    CHRIST-CENTRED PURPOSE.

    And eventually:

    IMPACT.

That is the purpose of process.

Not merely to make you older.

Not merely to make you experienced.

Not merely to make you successful.

But to make you increasingly useful to God and conformed to Christ.

    ---

    31. JESUS IS THE FINAL PATTERN

Peter's transformation ultimately points us back to Jesus.

The goal of Christian becoming is not:

    “Become another Peter.”

    The goal is:

    BECOME LIKE CHRIST.

    Romans 8:29 says:

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son...”

The process is therefore not simply about becoming successful.

    It is about becoming Christlike.

    Not merely:

    “God, make me influential.”

    But:

    “God, make me like Jesus.”

    Not merely:

    “Give me a platform.”

    But:

“Give me a heart that can carry the platform without losing You.”

    Not merely:

    “Use me.”

    But:

    “Form me.”

    33. A WORD TO EVERY PERSON IN PROCESS

Maybe Jesus has called you, but you do not yet look like the person you believe you will become.

    Keep following.

    Maybe you have made mistakes.

    Return to Jesus.

    Maybe you have failed publicly.

    Receive His restoration.

Maybe your confidence has been shaken.

    Let God rebuild you properly.

Maybe you are waiting for empowerment.

Do not leave the upper room prematurely.

Maybe God has begun using you.

    Stay humble.

Maybe people now recognize your gift.

Remember that Jesus found you before the crowd did.

    And above everything:

    KEEP FOLLOWING JESUS.

    Because He said:

    «“Follow me, and I will make you...”»

The One who called you is also committed to your formation.

    ---

    34. THE DECLARATION OF BECOMING

    I declare:

    I am not finished.

    I am under divine formation.

I will not despise my process.

I will follow Jesus even when I do not understand everything.

    I will surrender my nets.

I will leave what must be left.

I will embrace what God is forming in me.

    My passion will become disciplined.

    My zeal will become wisdom.

My gifts will be submitted to Christ.

My failures will not become my identity.

Where I have fallen, I will rise by grace.

Where I have been wounded, I will receive healing.

Where I have been immature, I will grow.

Where I have been afraid, I will learn courage.

Where I have been unstable, I will become established.

Where I have depended on myself, I will learn dependence on God.

I will not run from the process.

I will not rush the process.

I will not compare my process with another person's process.

    I will remain with Jesus.

I will be formed by Jesus.

I will be empowered by the Holy Spirit.

I will serve the purposes of God in my generation.

And when people see my life,

let them not merely see my gift—

    LET THEM SEE CHRIST.

    In Jesus' mighty name.

    AMEN.

PROCESS — THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING

    PETER'S MESSAGE

The boat was not the end.

The storm was not the end.

The failure was not the end.

The tears were not the end.

The restoration was not the end.

The upper room was not the end.

They were all part of the making.

    JESUS SAID:

    «“FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE YOU...”»

    So keep following.

    Keep surrendering.

    Keep learning.

    Keep becoming.

    Because:

THE ONE WHO CALLED YOU IS STILL MAKING YOU.

    Evang Ayi.Mk.I

To God Be All The Glory!
PROCESS — THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING PART 6 PETER: FROM FISHERMAN TO FISHER OF MEN THE PROCESS OF IDENTITY, ENCOUNTER, FAILURE, RESTORATION AND PURPOSE «“Jesus did not merely call Peter to do something different; He transformed the man who would do it.”» --- FOUNDATION SCRIPTURES Matthew 4:18–20 (KJV) “And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.” Luke 5:10–11 (KJV) “And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.” --- 1. JESUS DID NOT SAY, “FOLLOW ME AND BECOME.” HE SAID, “FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE.” This is one of the deepest statements concerning process. Jesus did not say: “Follow Me, and immediately become everything you are supposed to be.” He said: «“Follow me, and I will make you...”» There is a making that happens after the calling. --- 2. PETER STARTED WITH AN ORDINARY LIFE Peter was a fisherman. THE FIRST PROCESS WAS LEAVING THE NETS Peter could not follow Jesus while permanently holding onto the old system. Matthew 4:20 says: “And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.” The nets represented more than fishing equipment. They represented: - Familiarity. --- 5. --- 6. PETER HAD ZEAL BEFORE HE HAD MATURITY Peter was passionate. He was outspoken. He was courageous. He was often the first to respond. Sometimes that was powerful. Sometimes it got him into trouble. Peter's problem was not that he had no passion. His problem was that his passion sometimes moved faster than his understanding. This is a major dimension of process: ZEAL MUST BE DEVELOPED INTO MATURITY. A person can genuinely love Jesus and still need development. A person can be sincere and still be immature. A person can have revelation and still need character formation. A person can be gifted and still require discipline. --- 7. PETER WALKED ON WATER — BUT THE STORY WAS NOT ONLY ABOUT THE MIRACLE Matthew 14 records one of Peter's extraordinary experiences. Jesus came walking on the sea. Peter said: “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” Jesus said: “Come.” Peter stepped out of the boat. Peter learned: - To respond to Jesus. --- 8. PETER LEARNED THAT FAITH MUST REMAIN FIXED ON JESUS Peter was walking while his attention was fixed on Jesus. When he shifted his attention toward the storm, fear affected his movement. This gives us a powerful principle: WHAT CAPTURES YOUR ATTENTION CAN INFLUENCE YOUR DIRECTION. The process of becoming requires learning where to fix your gaze. Hebrews 12:2 says: “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...” The Christian journey is not sustained merely by looking at circumstances. We look unto Jesus. --- 9. PETER RECEIVED REVELATION — BUT REVELATION STILL REQUIRED DEVELOPMENT Matthew 16 records one of Peter's greatest moments. Jesus asked: “Whom say ye that I am?” Peter answered: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus commended him. But shortly afterward, Peter resisted Jesus' explanation of His coming suffering. The same Peter who received revelation struggled to understand God's method. This teaches us: REVELATION IN ONE AREA DOES NOT MEAN COMPLETE MATURITY IN EVERY AREA. You can understand one thing deeply and still need growth somewhere else. Never allow one spiritual breakthrough to convince you that you no longer need development. --- 10. PETER HAD TO LEARN THAT GOD'S KINGDOM DOES NOT OPERATE ACCORDING TO HUMAN EXPECTATIONS Peter expected certain things from the Messiah. --- 11. PETER'S CONFIDENCE WAS TESTED Peter made a strong declaration. Matthew 26:33 (KJV) “Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.” Peter believed he was stronger than he eventually proved to be. This is another stage of process: GOD SOMETIMES ALLOWS YOU TO DISCOVER THAT YOUR CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF IS NOT THE SAME AS DEPENDENCE ON HIM. Peter sincerely believed his own declaration. But the coming test would reveal the difference between: WHAT PETER THOUGHT HE COULD DO and WHAT PETER COULD ACTUALLY DO IN HIS OWN STRENGTH. --- 12. THE FIRE REVEALED WHAT THE BOAT HAD NOT When Jesus was arrested, Peter followed at a distance. Then came the courtyard. A servant girl recognized him. Peter denied knowing Jesus. Again. And again. And again. Matthew 26:75 (KJV) “And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.” Peter failed. This is an uncomfortable part of his process. But it is necessary. Because sometimes the process includes discovering weaknesses you did not know were there. --- 13. FAILURE CAN REVEAL WHAT STILL NEEDS TO BE HEALED Peter's denial was not the end of Peter. It exposed an area that needed transformation. This distinction is important: FAILURE IS AN EVENT. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BECOME YOUR IDENTITY. Peter failed Jesus. But Peter was not a permanent failure. He fell. But Jesus had not abandoned him. He wept. But restoration was coming. --- 14. JESUS DID NOT CANCEL PETER After the resurrection, Jesus deliberately restored Peter. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the process. John 21:15 (KJV) “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” Jesus asked him three times. “Lovest thou me?” Then Jesus gave him responsibility: «“Feed my lambs.”» «“Feed my sheep.”» «“Feed my sheep.”» Peter had denied Jesus three times. Now Jesus gave Peter an opportunity to reaffirm his love and receive renewed assignment. GRACE DOES NOT IGNORE FAILURE. GRACE RESTORES THE PERSON WHO REPENTS. --- 15. JESUS RESTORED PETER BEFORE USING PETER PUBLICLY This is significant. Jesus did not merely tell Peter: “Forget what happened.” He dealt with Peter personally. --- 16. PETER'S PROCESS DID NOT END AT RESTORATION Restoration was not the destination. Peter still had to wait. Jesus told the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they received power from on high. Acts 1:8 (KJV) “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me...” Peter needed more than: - Passion. - Experience. - Personality. - Natural courage. - Religious knowledge. He needed the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. GOD'S ASSIGNMENT REQUIRES GOD'S EMPOWERMENT. --- 17. PENTECOST REVEALED A DIFFERENT PETER Then Acts 2 happened. The Holy Ghost came. Peter stood up. The man who had once trembled before a servant girl now stood before a multitude and boldly proclaimed Christ. Acts 2:14 (KJV) “But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice...” This is transformation. The process had produced a different expression of the same man. Peter had not lost his boldness. God had refined it. His natural personality had been submitted to divine purpose. JESUS DID NOT DESTROY PETER'S PERSONALITY. JESUS REDEEMED AND DIRECTED IT. --- 18. THE MAN WHO ONCE DENIED JESUS NOW PREACHED JESUS This is one of the strongest testimonies of transformation. Peter's past became evidence of grace. The courtyard where he denied Christ did not become the final chapter. The upper room became the beginning of a new expression. And on Pentecost, Peter preached Christ. Thousands responded. ACTS 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.” The fisherman had become a fisher of men. Jesus' original words were becoming reality. “FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN.” --- 19. THE PROCESS PRODUCED COURAGE Peter and John later stood before religious authorities. Acts 4:13 (KJV) “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John... they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Notice the source of the transformation. “THEY HAD BEEN WITH JESUS.” This is the heart of the entire Process series. The ultimate process of becoming is not simply: trying harder. It is: becoming more like Christ through relationship with Christ. The greatest evidence of transformation is not merely what you can do. It is who you are becoming because you have been with Jesus. --- 20. PETER'S PROCESS WAS CHRIST-CENTRED Peter's story is not primarily: “Look at how great Peter became.” It is: “LOOK AT WHAT JESUS DID WITH PETER.” The glory belongs to Christ. Peter had weaknesses. Jesus transformed him. Peter failed. Jesus restored him. Peter lacked understanding. Jesus taught him. Peter was afraid. Jesus strengthened him. Peter had natural ability. Jesus redirected it. Peter had a calling. Jesus developed him. THE MAKER OF THE VESSEL DESERVES THE GLORY FOR THE VESSEL'S TRANSFORMATION. --- 21. PETER TEACHES US ABOUT IDENTITY Peter's journey can be summarized as: SIMON → FOLLOWER → DISCIPLE → BROKEN MAN → RESTORED DISCIPLE → EMPOWERED WITNESS → LEADER The process was not simply external. It was internal. Jesus was answering the question: “WHO ARE YOU BECOMING?” This is why process matters. Because God does not merely want you to have: a ministry. He wants you to become: a minister. God does not merely want you to have: influence. He wants you to become: trustworthy with influence. God does not merely want you to have: a platform. He wants you to become: a vessel capable of carrying what happens on the platform. --- 22. PETER'S PROCESS HAD DIFFERENT CLASSROOMS THE BOAT Taught him to leave familiarity. THE NET Taught him surrender. THE STORM Taught him faith. THE REVELATION Taught him spiritual perception. THE GARDEN Tested his response under pressure. THE COURTYARD Exposed his weakness. THE WEEPING Brought him to brokenness. THE SHORE Brought restoration. THE UPPER ROOM Taught him waiting. PENTECOST Introduced empowerment. THE TEMPLE Introduced public ministry. PERSECUTION Tested courage. Every environment became part of his development. --- 23. SOMETIMES GOD USES YOUR LOWEST MOMENT TO PREPARE YOUR GREATEST MESSAGE Peter's failure gave him an understanding of weakness. 2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” --- 24. PETER LEARNED THAT LOVE MUST PRODUCE RESPONSIBILITY Jesus did not merely ask: “Peter, do you love Me?” He connected love with responsibility: «“Feed my lambs.”» «“Feed my sheep.”» This means: LOVE FOR JESUS MUST EVENTUALLY EXPRESS ITSELF IN SERVICE TO PEOPLE. If I say I love Jesus, how do I treat His people? If I say I love Christ, am I willing to serve? If I say I love the Shepherd, do I care about His sheep? The process of becoming Christlike must affect our relationship with people. --- 25. THE PETER PRINCIPLE We can summarize Peter's journey this way: ENCOUNTER → FOLLOWING → MAKING → TESTING → FAILURE → RESTORATION → EMPOWERMENT → MATURITY → IMPACT Notice something: The calling came before the maturity. Jesus called Peter first. Then Jesus made Peter. This is why you must never confuse: CALLING with COMPLETION. You can be called and still be under construction. --- 26. YOU CAN BE CALLED AND STILL NEED HEALING You can be gifted and still need character. Instead say: «“Lord, whatever You must form in me to make me useful for Your purpose, form it.”» --- 27. --- 28. DON'T DESPISE YOUR “NOT YET” Peter was not yet what he would become. But Jesus knew what he would become. Perhaps you are looking at yourself and saying: “I am not there yet.” That may be true. But: “NOT YET” DOES NOT MEAN “NEVER.” Peter was not yet mature. Peter was not yet stable. Peter was not yet fully courageous. Peter was not yet ready for Pentecost. But Jesus was not finished. PHILIPPIANS 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” --- 29. THE DANGER OF COMPARING YOUR PROCESS Peter had his own process. --- 30. THE PROCESS IS PRODUCING SOMETHING What did Jesus produce in Peter? BOLDNESS. HUMILITY. DEPENDENCE. COMPASSION. COURAGE. LEADERSHIP. SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING. RESPONSIBILITY. ENDURANCE. CHRIST-CENTRED PURPOSE. And eventually: IMPACT. That is the purpose of process. Not merely to make you older. Not merely to make you experienced. Not merely to make you successful. But to make you increasingly useful to God and conformed to Christ. --- 31. JESUS IS THE FINAL PATTERN Peter's transformation ultimately points us back to Jesus. The goal of Christian becoming is not: “Become another Peter.” The goal is: BECOME LIKE CHRIST. Romans 8:29 says: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son...” The process is therefore not simply about becoming successful. It is about becoming Christlike. Not merely: “God, make me influential.” But: “God, make me like Jesus.” Not merely: “Give me a platform.” But: “Give me a heart that can carry the platform without losing You.” Not merely: “Use me.” But: “Form me.” --- 32. THE PETER PROCESS FOLLOW ME The Call ↓ I WILL MAKE YOU The Process ↓ THE STORM The Testing ↓ THE FAILURE The Exposure ↓ THE WEEPING The Brokenness ↓ THE RESTORATION The Grace ↓ THE UPPER ROOM The Waiting ↓ PENTECOST The Empowerment ↓ THE WITNESS The Assignment ↓ THE FRUIT The Impact --- 33. A WORD TO EVERY PERSON IN PROCESS Maybe Jesus has called you, but you do not yet look like the person you believe you will become. And above everything: KEEP FOLLOWING JESUS. Because He said: «“Follow me, and I will make you...”» The One who called you is also committed to your formation. --- 34. THE DECLARATION OF BECOMING I declare: I am not finished. And when people see my life, let them not merely see my gift— LET THEM SEE CHRIST. In Jesus' mighty name. AMEN. --- PROCESS — THE JOURNEY OF BECOMING PETER'S MESSAGE The boat was not the end. The storm was not the end. The failure was not the end. The tears were not the end. The restoration was not the end. The upper room was not the end. They were all part of the making. JESUS SAID: «“FOLLOW ME, AND I WILL MAKE YOU...”» So keep following. Keep surrendering. Keep learning. Keep becoming. Because: THE ONE WHO CALLED YOU IS STILL MAKING YOU.
