Grace in Unexpected Places
Today’s reflection comes from Mark 2:13–17, where Jesus surprised many by sitting and eating with tax collectors and sinners. The Pharisees questioned why He would spend time with those considered unclean, but Jesus made His mission clear:
“They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mark 2:17, KJV)
This reminds me that God’s work often happens where we least expect it. His ways are higher than ours, as Isaiah 55:8 says:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”(KJV)
Sometimes, God leads us into unexpected places or circumstances—people we might never have imagined. It’s in those moments that I’m learning to trust Him more, to surrender and follow His Spirit, even when the path isn’t clear.
It’s not about us, but about the eternal impact God is making through us.
Faith isn’t about understanding every detail, but about surrendering to God’s will and knowing that He is good and trustworthy.
There is great joy in witnessing transformation—whether it’s in our own lives or in the lives of others. To be part of God’s plan, even in small ways, is humbling and deeply fulfilling. As Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”(KJV)
As we continue our journey of faith, may we always be open to where the Holy Spirit leads, even if it’s into places we never expected. May we find joy in seeing God at work, whether in our own lives or in the lives of others, and may we trust that He is always working, always moving, and always bringing about good.
