• The Jeffreys Brothers in UK
“George Jeffreys traveled with Stephen as his music director. Then he discovered that he was anointed with the same remarkable strength and power as his brother.
However, there was a difference in their personalities. Stephen was exuberant, joyful, and a singing person, while George was sober, dark, and handsome.
George raised up Foursquare churches, while Stephen raised up dozens of Assemblies of God churches. There was no animosity or fighting — it just became two different highways for their lives.
George Jeffreys had a deep voice. He held meetings in the Royal Albert Hall in London, seating ten thousand or more people. It was jam packed, and hundreds could not be seated.
I watched George Jeffreys in the Royal Albert Hall. His eyes were like fire. He could see that mighty congregation of more than ten thousand at one time. He knew their needs, and when he prayed, miracles happened — not as great as when his brother, Stephen, prayed possibly, but wonderful healings took place.” _

  • JOHN WESLEY MINISTERING TO THE SICK
John Wesley was often called upon to pray for those sick or demonically oppressed. The following excerpt from John’s journals tells of one such instance:
Thur. [October] 25 [1739].—I was sent for to one in Bristol, who was taken ill the evening before. (This fact too I will simply relate, so far as I was an ear or eye witness of it.) She lay on the ground, furiously gnashing her teeth, and after a while roared aloud. It was not easy for three or four persons to hold her, especially when the name of Jesus was named. We prayed; the violence of her symptoms ceased, though without a complete deliverance.
In the evening, being sent for to her again, I was unwilling, indeed, afraid, to go: Thinking it would not avail, unless some who were strong in faith were to wrestle with God for her. I opened my Testament on those words, “I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth.” I stood reproved, and went immediately. She began screaming before I came into the room; then broke out into a horrid laughter, mixed with blasphemy, grievous to hear. One who from many circumstances apprehended a preternatural agent to be concerned in this, asking, “How didst thou dare to enter into a Christian?” was answered, “She is not a Christian. She is mine.” Q. “Dost thou not tremble at the name of Jesus?” No words followed, but she shrunk back and trembled exceedingly. Q. “Art thou not increasing thy own damnation?” It was faintly answered, “Ay, ay:” Which was followed by fresh cursing and blaspheming.
My brother coming in, she cried out, “Preacher! Field preacher! I don’t love field-preaching.” This was repeated two hours together, with spitting, and all the expressions of strong aversion.
We left her at twelve, but called again about noon on Friday, 26. And now it was that God showed He heareth the prayer. All her pangs ceased in a moment: She was filled with peace, and knew that the son of wickedness was departed from her.

  • One of F.F. Bosworth’s biographers, who wrote in the Herald of Faith magazine in 1964, was Oscar Blomgren Jr., a young man who first met the healing evangelist as a boy. At five years of age, Oscar was walking precariously on the back of a park bench near Lake Forest, Illinois, when he fell. He was rushed to the hospital, where an X-ray revealed that his elbow had been shattered into several fragments. Doctors were concerned that his arm would be stiff for the rest of his life.
Oscar’s father was a faithful Christian and a personal friend of Bosworth, so he called the evangelist at his home for prayer. He didn’t ask him to come and lay hands on the child, just to pray in faith on the phone for Oscar in the name of Jesus. The next day, the little boy had several hours of surgery on his arm. The following morning, X-rays were taken again to determine whether the surgery had been successful. Puzzled, the doctors ordered a third X-ray. They called Oscar’s parents into the therapy room to discuss the results. Both X-rays revealed no sign of a break. It was as if nothing had happened. Oscar’s elbow was completely restored.
The rambunctious little boy hung from his arms on a crossbar in the hospital therapy room while his parents and the doctors discussed his miraculous recovery. His cast was removed immediately. In relating the story, Oscar Jr. always gratefully added that his once-shattered arm played in many successful football games in the years to follow!
In his biography of Bosworth, Oscar remembered the man with great affection:
Fred Bosworth gave me, and tens of thousands of others an unshakable faith in God that we will carry to our graves. He demonstrated again and again that the real benefits of Christianity are not just spiritual, but physical as well. And through him God gave the inquiring mind a granite-solid foundation for faith....Those of us who were privileged to know him will remember him always. But more important, the Faith that he gave us will live on in our children and grandchildren for years to come.

  • SMITH WIGGLESWORTH:
Praying for a dying friend is never an easy task, especially if you’re a minister with no faith. One day Smith got a call from a devoted friend informing him that his friend’s wife was told by her doctor that she would not survive the night, filled with compassion, Smith asked a fellow pastor in Bradford to accompany him and pray for her miracle, when the pastor refused, he sought another friend who was known for his eloquent prayers and both Smith and his prayer partner hurried to the dying woman.

Upon entering the house Smith encouraged his friend to pray, but as he began praying he prayed not for the woman, but for the “family that would be left behind” as the prayers continued directed at the acceptance of the woman’s death.
Smith cried out for him to stop! Asking the husband to pray this time only to hear more lack of faith in his prayers.
Fed up, Smith cried out “Lord, stop him!” Smith then pulled out a bottle of oil out of his pocket and poured the entire bottle over the body of the dying woman in faith, as he did this at the head of her bed, Smith Wigglesworth experienced a vision of Jesus! He would describe the event by saying “suddenly, the Lord Jesus appeared. I had my eyes open gazing at Him. He gave me one of those gentle smiles... I have never lost that vision, the vision of that beautiful, soft smile.” After the vision ended the woman sat up in bed filled with new life! She lived to raise multiple children and even outlived her husband!

  • In August 1936, the East Oklahoma Pentecostal camp meetings were being held in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Oral was to be licensed as a minister in the Pentecostal Holiness church at one of the last meetings. When he arrived, though, his mind was set on far more than that ordination. He was determined he would not leave those campgrounds without personally experiencing the fire of Pentecost. Oral began to seek God with all his heart for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

During one of the evening meetings at the Sulphur, Oklahoma, camp meeting, Oral Roberts cried out to God in prayer, feeling as though he could no longer wait for God’s Spirit to fill him. As the time of evening worship and praise began, Oral opened his mouth to sing and was baptized in the Holy Spirit. He began to speak with other tongues, as the disciples had at Pentecost in the book of Acts. (See Acts 2:4.) He had received God’s anointing to preach earlier in his ministry, but now he was empowered by the Holy Spirit as in the days of Pentecost!

  • HOW TO RAISE THE DEAD
    As told by Roberts Liardon...
In one occasion, Smith received a frantic phone call from a desperate woman telling Smith that her husband had passed away. In a state of panic the wife called Smith to come over and see him, when Smith arrived at the house, the wife cried out to Smith screaming in agony over the passing of her husband to which Smith replied,
“tell me where your husband is, and stay in here, I will not have any unbelief in the room!”
Smith entered the couple's bedroom where he saw the dead man lying on the bed dressed in his nightgown, he picked up the dying husband threw him to the wall and he shouted
    “Live! In Jesus name!”
The dead man fell to the floor, Smith picked him back up and threw him against the wall and shouted
“I said LIVE! In Jesus name!”
To which the man once again fell to the floor with his eyes open... No, he didn’t come back to life, Smith threw him so hard that his eyes rolled open. Smith grabbed the man one more time and shouted
“I said LIVE! In Jesus name!”
And threw him one final time against the wall, as the man fell he began to cough and breathe! The man had returned back from the dead! Smith Wigglesworth looked down at the man and said
“Get up and get dressed your family thinks you're dead!”
Smith was convinced that the power of Jesus worked! Even to bring the dead back to life.
    Oh Jesus!!!
