• Morning friends. There are tears of gratitude in my coffee this morning. Sittin here reading Isaiah 53:5 this morning. It says, “He was wounded for our transgressions…and by His stripes we are healed.” There He hung between heaven and earth, wounded, rejected, and alone. The hands that could have called angels were nailed to a cross. The One who had rescued countless people was dying with no one rescuing Him. And here’s what breaks my heart…He wasn’t saving Himself because He was busy saving me. Jesus knew my sin. He knew my failures. He knew every road I would wander down, and He still chose the cross. Nobody came to save Jesus that day. Jesus came to save me. The cross is God’s love with a heartbeat. His blood paid a debt my goodness could never pay. So today, stop running from the One who ran toward your redemption. The Savior who wasn’t saved became the Savior who saves. Call on Jesus. Give Him your life. He gave His life for you! Take His hand. Y’all have a blessed day. Love ya. Pappy Flynn

  • REPENT NOW — Life Is Uncertain
A solemn Christian sermon with prayer

“Prepare to meet your God.” — Amos 4:12

The world often imagines death as the Grim Reaper—a dark figure carrying a scythe. That image is a powerful symbol in art and literature, but the Bible points us to a deeper truth: our lives are fragile, and none of us knows the day or hour when our earthly life will end.

This is not meant to produce panic. It is meant to awaken the heart.

    Tomorrow is not promised

Every sunrise is a gift from God. We make plans for next week, next year, and retirement, yet Scripture reminds us how brief life truly is.

“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” — James 4:14

If your heart is far from Christ, do not delay repentance. If there is unforgiveness, confess it. If there is hidden sin, bring it into the light. If you have wandered from the Lord, come home today.

Jesus is the Savior, not the destroyer

God does not delight in the death of the wicked. His desire is that people turn and live.

“The Lord is… patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9

The Cross stands as Heaven's invitation. Jesus stretched out His hands so that guilty sinners could become forgiven children of God. No sin is too great for His mercy when it is met with genuine repentance and faith.

    What is true repentance?

Repentance is more than feeling sorry. It is a change of heart that leads to a change of direction.

    Turn from sin.

    Turn toward Jesus Christ.

    Confess Him as Lord.

Walk daily in obedience through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” — Acts 3:19

    A Prayer of Urgent Repentance

    Heavenly Father,

I come before You with humility and reverence. I confess that I have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. I cannot save myself.

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You died on the Cross for my sins and rose again in victory. Have mercy upon me. Wash me in Your precious blood and make me a new creation.

Holy Spirit, break every chain of sin. Remove my hardened heart and give me a heart that loves righteousness. Help me forgive others, walk in holiness, and live each day ready to meet my King.

Teach me to number my days, that I may gain a heart of wisdom. Let my life glorify Jesus until my final breath.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

    The Call

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15

Do not wait for a better season. Do not assume tomorrow belongs to you.

Repent today. Believe the Gospel today. Follow Jesus today.

For Christ is ready to forgive all who come to Him with a sincere and repentant heart.

BE READY TO DIE ANY TIME, WE LIVE MINUTE BY MINUTE. BE EVER READY TO MEET GOD! 2 CHOICES, JESUS EQUALS HEAVEN. REJECTION OF JESUS EQUALS ETERNAL DAMNATION
BE READY TO DIE AT ANY TIME
We Live Minute by Minute — Be Ever Ready to Meet God

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12

Every heartbeat is a gift. Every breath is sustained by the mercy of God. None of us knows whether we have fifty years remaining—or five minutes. The Bible calls us not to live in terror, but in readiness.

    Jesus repeatedly urged His disciples:

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” — Matthew 25:13

    The Two Eternal Choices

According to the Christian Gospel, every person must respond to Jesus Christ.

    Jesus Christ

    The Way to Eternal Life

    John 14:6 • John 3:16

    Repent. Believe. Follow Him.

Forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life through Christ alone.

    Reject Christ

    Remain Separated from God

    John 3:18 • Revelation 20:15

    The warning is real.

The New Testament warns that rejecting God's offer of salvation has eternal consequences.

    Don't Wait Until Tomorrow

The greatest deception is believing there will always be another opportunity.

    The healthy can die suddenly.

The wealthy cannot buy one more heartbeat.

The young are not guaranteed old age.

    Death respects no calendar.

“Now is the day of salvation.” — 2 Corinthians 6:2

God is not trying to frighten you away from Him. He is calling you toward Him. His warnings flow from His love, and His invitation remains open today.

    Jesus Is the Only Savior

    Jesus declared:

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6

    The apostles proclaimed:

“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12

Our good works cannot erase our sins. Religion cannot save us. Only the crucified and risen Son of God can reconcile us to the Father.

A Prayer: Ready to Meet God

    Heavenly Father,

I acknowledge that my life is in Your hands. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself.

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sin and turn to You. Be my Lord, my Savior, and my King. Wash me in Your precious blood. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, and teach me to live in holiness, love, and obedience.

Help me to be ready—not living in fear, but living in faithful expectation of seeing You face to face. Let every day of my life bring glory to Your name.

    In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

    The Final Appeal

“Choose this day whom you will serve.” — Joshua 24:15

Life is brief. Eternity is forever.

Choose Jesus Christ. Walk with Him. Be ready to meet God.

  • DEMONS IN MULTITUDES OF CHURCHES
    KUNDALINI

    .

    THANKS TO GERALD W THOMAS

    .

    KUNDALINI
    THE FALSE HOLY SPIRIT
    THE FALSE RUACH HAQODESH
    THE FALSE SET-APART SPIRIT
    HAS INFILTRATED MANY CHURCHES

    .

Yoga IS a Religion, and its purpose is to awaken one's Kundalini. What is "KUNDALINI"?

In Hinduism, KUNDALINI is actually a goddess that resides at the base of the spine and is awakened by the practice of Yoga. In other words, it is a demon.

YOGA is simply an invitation to demonic possession.

The KUNDALINI SPIRIT gained access to the Western world from India through New Age teaching. It is popularly known as Yoga. Don't for a minute think that Yoga is harmless. Yoga is an inherent part of Hindu philosophy which teaches man and nature are one with divinity.

In KUNDALINI Yoga, there are seven sensitive points (chakras) that have a serpent at the base of the spine. The serpent works through each chakra that is open until it reaches the penal gland (which most consider the third eye), until you then realize you are a god…does this sound familiar?

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

For ELOHIYM knows that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as elohiym, knowing good and evil.

    RE’SHIYTH (GENESIS) 3:4-5 Eth Cepher

Signs one's KUNDALINI has been awakened:
Involuntary jerks, tremors, shaking, itching, tingling, and crawling sensations, especially in the arms and legs

Energy rushes or feelings of electricity circulating the body
Intense heat (sweating) or cold, especially as energy is experienced passing through the chakras

Spontaneous pranayama, asanas, mudras and bandhas

Visions or sounds at times associated with a particular chakra

Diminished or conversely extreme sexual desire sometimes leading to a state of constant or whole-body orgasm

Emotional upheavals or surfacing of unwanted and repressed feelings or thoughts with certain repressed emotions becoming dominant in the conscious mind for short or long periods of time.

Headache, migraine or pressure inside the skull

Increased blood pressure and irregular heartbeat

    Emotional numbness
    Antisocial tendencies
Mood swings with periods of depression or mania

Pains in different areas of the body, especially back and neck
Sensitivity to light, sound and touch

Trance-like and altered states of consciousness
Disrupted sleep pattern (periods of insomnia or oversleeping)

    Loss of appetite or overeating
Bliss, feelings of infinite love and universal connectivity, transcendent awareness

If you know anything about spiritual warfare and exorcism, many of these symptoms are red flags for demonic possession. So, should a Follower of Messiah practice Yoga?

A better question is: Do you want to invite demons into your body and break the First Commandment by practicing a religion that believes there are elohiyms (gods) other than the ELOHIYM of the Scriptures?

Now let's look at KUNDALINI in :THE TORAH/TANACH

You shall have no other elohiym before me.

    SHEMOTH (EXODUS) 20:3 Eth Cepher

KUNDALINI is an anti-Messiah spiritual counterfeit of the RUACH HAQODESH (Set-Apart (Holy) Spirit).

We need To Bind This Serpent Spirit, Cast It Out, and for every Scripture Preacher And Teacher to Discern this Spirit and close the church doors to its Occult Operations.

Scriptural passages that do mention stuff like shaking, crying, laughing, and so on cannot be interpreted into the “fruits” that MASHIACH speaks about since fruits rather refers to acts of repentance (LUKE 3) and Spiritual fruits like love, joy and peace (GALATIONS)

Scriptures DO show how False Spirits Mimic The RUACH HAQODESH (Set-Apart (Holy) Spirit), like when Pharaoh’s Wizards turned their staffs into Snakes just like Moses did through The Power Of YHWH. If you just focus on the outer appearance you can Mix The True with The False.

RE’SHIYTH (GENESIS) 3:4-5 Eth Cepher 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Signs one's KUNDALINI has been awakened: Involuntary jerks, tremors, shaking, itching, tingling, and crawling sensations, especially in the arms and legs 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Energy rushes or feelings of electricity circulating the body Intense heat (sweating) or cold, especially as energy is experienced passing through the chakras 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Spontaneous pranayama, asanas, mudras and bandhas 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Visions or sounds at times associated with a particular chakra 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Diminished or conversely extreme sexual desire sometimes leading to a state of constant or whole-body orgasm 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Emotional upheavals or surfacing of unwanted and repressed feelings or thoughts with certain repressed emotions becoming dominant in the conscious mind for short or long periods of time. 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Headache, migraine or pressure inside the skull 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Increased blood pressure and irregular heartbeat 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Emotional numbness Antisocial tendencies Mood swings with periods of depression or mania 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Pains in different areas of the body, especially back and neck Sensitivity to light, sound and touch 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Trance-like and altered states of consciousness Disrupted sleep pattern (periods of insomnia or oversleeping) 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Loss of appetite or overeating Bliss, feelings of infinite love and universal connectivity, transcendent awareness 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 If you know anything about spiritual warfare and exorcism, many of these symptoms are red flags for demonic possession. So, should a Follower of Messiah practice Yoga? A better question is: Do you want to invite demons into your body and break the First Commandment by practicing a religion that believes there are elohiyms (gods) other than the ELOHIYM of the Scriptures? Now let's look at KUNDALINI in :THE TORAH/TANACH You shall have no other elohiym before me. SHEMOTH (EXODUS) 20:3 Eth Cepher 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 KUNDALINI is an anti-Messiah spiritual counterfeit of the RUACH HAQODESH (Set-Apart (Holy) Spirit). We need To Bind This Serpent Spirit, Cast It Out, and for every Scripture Preacher And Teacher to Discern this Spirit and close the church doors to its Occult Operations. 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 Scriptural passages that do mention stuff like shaking, crying, laughing, and so on cannot be interpreted into the “fruits” that MASHIACH speaks about since fruits rather refers to acts of repentance (LUKE 3) and Spiritual fruits like love, joy and peace (GALATIONS) Scriptures DO show how False Spirits Mimic The RUACH HAQODESH (Set-Apart (Holy) Spirit), like when Pharaoh’s Wizards turned their staffs into Snakes just like Moses did through The Power Of YHWH. If you just focus on the outer appearance you can Mix The True with The False. 🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤💥🖤 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 EVE OR CHAWAH 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 🟧 OUR HEBREW HERITAGE GREAT INSIGHT 🟧 🟧 THE SECRETS REVEALED FOR END-TIME 🟧 🟧🟧🟧 CLICK BELOW AND ENJOY 🟧🟧🟧 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0atCYFIh96U&list=PUCqes8d_T4YBRxnQWAE4I-A&index=34 🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧 .

    Jesus, My Everything.

Christians talk a lot about being ‘close to God,’ but what does that really mean? For some, if they go to church once a week, they consider themselves to be walking with Jesus - while others feel as long as they pray every day, they have a close relationship with their Creator. But if you want a real close friendship with God - allow Him to penetrate every aspect of your life, where God is not only “first” in your life - He is your “everything!” Make Him a part of all that you do - whether that’s eating breakfast, deciding what to wear, making a business deal, driving the kids to school, and every other activity in your day! In other words, be “in His presence” 24/7. God loves you so much and longs for you to lean on Him for advice, wisdom, guidance, comfort, joy, peace, and love - depending on Him in all things - for He is always with you - waiting for you to come to Him. Even if you are not totally conscious of how near He is, you can be 100% positive that He IS there every second of the day - sort of like your heartbeat, which is always pumping away, even if you are not aware of it. So it is with God’s sweet presence - He will never leave you or forsake you. Make Jesus your everything, putting Him first above all else - and you will enjoy a closeness with your Lord and Savior such as you have never known! Text: Zephaniah 3:17, Isaiah 40:31, Lamentations 3:21-24, Hosea 2:19

  • Excerpt From 'A Safe Haven'

Her mind went back to her interrupted prayer: “God, I know you’re there. I know you see and hear. It looks so dire right now, but your Word says you’ll never leave me nor forsake me, unlike so many in my life. Your Word says: ‘My God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.’ I can’t see how we’re going to get thru this financial devastation; right now, I need so much, just to get out of the end of the year. I can’t see a way Lord, but I trust you to keep your Word. Please show me the way.

Provide in abundance. Make a way where there is no way. Show the enemy, and the people who follow him, that he can’t take away my provision, because you are the one who provides. He can’t steal my joy forever. He can’t destroy any more than you allow. God help me find the right path. Show me, every single step, as if I’m a child. Make a way. Thank you once again… my true father... I’ll just keep working and helping families, and watch you create a path through the mire.”

She began to silently pray the other prayers God heard so regularly; the ones for a life’s companion that was true. The ones for her family. The ones to not be alone in such a hostile world with so many evil men and women. Her thoughts went to Jake… wishing… but he’d never wanted more than a friendship, and being his friend was so precious to her…

And once again she heard that still, small voice, whisper…. “I’ve got this… you keep doing your part, and I’ll do my part… watch it unfold… I’ve called you to a work that will be difficult, but I’ll send a helper… soon you will begin to understand why all this is happening. You will know true fear, but don’t be afraid. You will see things that astound you; but stay calm. Guard against deception; things aren’t always as they seem. Let me show you the real enemy. Let me use you to make a difference. Let me lead you to the calling I placed upon you so long ago. Are you willing? Are you ready? It’s time.”

A chill went up her spine. She could have sworn she heard a sharp intake of breath from someone just behind her, in fear at the words that still seemed to linger in the night air. She turned to look and see who was there, but the night held nothing she could see. She ‘felt’ a presence, but it wasn’t visible. Like so often lately, she could ‘feel’ the darkness becoming more palpable, and sense that something was coming to an end—and something else was about to begin. She smelled a stench that seemed to permeate the air around her. It was like nothing she’d ever smelled before.

All her life she’d felt a calling. A ‘knowing’ that there was something she was supposed to do. The hunger to understand, leading her to endless hours of bible study, conversations with others who loved the word; the countless sermons, and podcasts she’d listened to for as long as she could remember. Absorbing. Learning. Wringing, every possible nuance she could from each phrase, each individual word, each scholarly voice as they taught in their sphere of influence. Studying. Thinking. Praying. Preparation for she knew not what, just that she had to continue to strengthen her heart, mind, soul, and spirit. And above all…to be ready…

As the wind around her began to pick up, the sound whistling through the tree limbs increased exponentially. She heard shrieks, wails, and moans that were more than human; not animal; not nature; but unmistakably there. When she unexpectedly turned toward the house faster than her usual pace, she caught a glimpse—for just a fraction of a heartbeat—of a face that was almost human, but with something completely wrong. It was such an infinitesimally short a sight, that it was shocking how it imprinted itself into her brain; seared forever into her memory so that she would always be able to describe it, to the minutest detail.

It that heartbeat of time she read the look in a way that could not be her understanding alone; Holy Spirit intel showed her fear, anger, malevolence, and a determination to stomp her out of the picture in the most viscous way possible…. but also, the clear knowledge that it knew it could not touch her…
    …yet…

  • A Call to Return to Our Original Mandate

The Church of Jesus Christ was not born merely to build denominations, increase membership, construct beautiful buildings, or hold endless activities. The Church was born with a divine mandate. Before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave His followers one clear and unchanging command:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

    Matthew 28:19–20

This was not a suggestion; it was the original mandate of the Church. The first believers understood it, lived it, and turned the world upside down through discipleship, evangelism, prayer, and obedience to Christ.

Have We Drifted from the Mandate?
Today, we must honestly examine ourselves. In many places, the Church has become busy with programs but weak in disciple-making. We celebrate attendance more than transformation, positions more than service, and popularity more than obedience. We have often replaced the Great Commission with personal ambition, denominational competition, and worldly success.

The result is visible: many identify as Christians, but fewer are true disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is not simply a churchgoer; a disciple is one who follows Christ, obeys His Word, grows in holiness, and helps others follow Him.

The Cost of Neglecting Our Mission
When the Church abandons discipleship, the next generation grows without spiritual foundation. Communities lose the light of Christ. False teachings spread easily. Sin becomes normalized, and the witness of the Church grows weaker.

Jesus did not call us to make converts only; He called us to make disciples. Conversion is the beginning, not the end. Baptism is important, but it must be followed by teaching, mentoring, correction, encouragement, and a life of obedience to Christ.

    Returning to the Original Mandate
To return to our original mandate, we must recover four priorities:

    1. Go intentionally:
We must leave our comfort zones and reach people far and near with the Gospel.

    2. Make disciples:
We must invest time in people, helping them grow in faith, character, and obedience.

    3. Baptize believers:
We must publicly identify new believers with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

    4. Teach obedience:
We must teach not only biblical knowledge but also biblical living.

    A Personal Responsibility
This call is not only for pastors, or church leaders. Every believer is an ambassador of Christ. Every Christian is called to witness, to teach, to encourage, and to help someone grow in the Lord. The Great Commission is the responsibility of the whole Church.

Imagine what would happen if every believer discipled one person, prayed for the lost, shared the Gospel faithfully, and lived a life that reflected Jesus Christ. Families would change, communities would change, and nations would feel the impact of the Kingdom of God.

A Time for Repentance and Renewal
This is a time to repent for where we have drifted from Christ’s command. It is a time to lay aside pride, division, and distraction. It is a time to seek the Holy Spirit for fresh fire and renewed passion for souls.

The world does not need a more entertaining Church; it needs a more obedient Church. Heaven is not asking whether we were famous, but whether we were faithful.

    Conclusion
Let us hear again the voice of our Lord: “Go and make disciples.” Let this become the heartbeat of our churches, our ministries, our families, and our personal lives. May we return to the simplicity, power, and purpose of the early Church. May we raise disciples who know Christ, love Christ, obey Christ, and proclaim Christ to the world.

This is our original mandate. This is our urgent call. Let us return to it with repentance, faith, and unwavering commitment.

  • continuation chapter two 2.2
Now, don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying you don't need the knowledge. You absolutely need it. Without knowledge, you'd jump in and try to breathe underwater like a particularly optimistic fish. The knowledge gives you faith in the process. It tells you that the water can, in fact, hold you up, that these awkward, flailing motions have meaning and might eventually become graceful. It gives you a reason to keep spluttering. But you still need to practice. You still need to drill. You still need to drown a little before you can swim a lot. You'll drink so much pool water that you'll be able to taste the chlorine in your dreams. You'll cough, you'll gag, you'll question why you ever left the shore of theoretical comfort where the books were dry and the certificates were safe. The righteous life is not a certificate on your wall; it's a rhythm in your limbs, a muscle memory of the soul. And muscles don't grow by reading about protein; they grow by lifting something heavy and then feeling sore the next day and complaining to everyone about it.

‎So it is with righteousness. One can study the Scriptures until their eyes cross and they've developed a permanent squint. One can quote verses on grace with the speed and precision of an auctioneer on caffeine. One can recite the doctrines of justification and sanctification forward, backward, and in the original Hebrew while juggling concordances. One can intellectually affirm with perfect, shining orthodoxy that Christ is the living water, and say "Amen" so loudly that the person in the next pew spills their coffee. But that, my friend, is merely reading about water. It is studying the molecular structure, the boiling point, the freezing point, the historical significance of water in the ancient Near East. It is all accurate, all true, all very impressive in a Bible trivia competition. But your throat is still parched. You are dying of thirst while holding a library card to the well. To be free from sin, you must dive into the discipline. You must practice patience when every fiber of your being wants to scream and throw a chair through a window—preferably the window of the person who is currently testing your patience. And not patience with gritted teeth and a twitching eye—that's not patience, that's just anger in a corset, anger with a fake mustache and glasses, anger doing a very poor impression of a calm person. No, you must steadily come to be in love with patience, to find it a fascinating companion, to court it like a shy lover, choosing it freely and wantonly, not because you have to but because you genuinely prefer it. You don't practice patience to make the Old Man in the Sky nod approvingly and slide a gold star across the heavenly counter. That would be theatre, a performance, a pretence, a dinner party where everyone is polite and no one is real. It would be you watching yourself be patient, which is the fastest way to become impatient with your own patience, which leads to a meta-crisis of infinite regress: you're angry that you're angry about being angry about trying to be patient. The work is not a bribe. The work is the transformation of your own taste buds.

‎And this brings us to the great confusion, the grand misunderstanding that has produced more theatrical saints than a Hollywood casting call. Some say, with great authority, "You must practice self-control when temptation whispers." But let's examine that. Let's put it on the operating table and poke it with a scalpel. What is mere self-control? Isn't it often just controlling the evil that is inside you, making sure it doesn't leak out and stain your shirt? Isn't it just hiding the monster in the closet when guests come over, shoving it behind the winter coats and the old photo albums, while it continues to growl and scratch at the door and probably eat your shoes? A man who is seething with rage but has "controlled" himself, presenting a placid smile to the world while his internal organs are staging a violent coup, has not practiced righteousness at all. He has practiced concealment. He has become a beautifully decorated tomb, full of very active dead men's bones—which is, coincidentally, exactly what Jesus called the Pharisees in Matthew 23:27. He hasn't dealt with the rage; he's just soundproofed the room. The rage is still in there, doing squats, getting stronger, waiting for the guests to leave so it can come out and redecorate the living room with thrown lamps. This is not the practice of righteousness. This is spiritual stage management. It's a war tactic, hiding the dangerous artillery under a tarp and wheeling it out again when the truce is over. The bitterness is still there, polishing its weapons, writing passive-aggressive letters, keeping a detailed list of every offense ever committed against you since kindergarten.

‎What, then, is this work we must do? It is not the suppression of the symptom. It is the re-training of the heart. It is the long, sometimes tedious, often unglamorous work of learning to love what is good, not just performing it for an Audience of One who, by the way, can see backstage and knows you're wearing a wire. It is the work of taking the anti-malarial tablet when you don't feel like it, when the pill seems bitter, when your flesh wants to spit it out and go back to the fever dreams. It is the work of getting into the water of discipline when the shore of theoretical knowledge is so much more comfortable, so much drier, so much less likely to expose your flailing limbs. It is the work of raising the sail—pulling the rope one more time when your arms are tired, when the wind seems absent, when the harbor looks so inviting with its stationary boats and its non-sailing people who never have to worry about storms. It is the work of not generating the wind, but cooperating with it.

‎And if you will do this work—this unsexy, unglamorous, nobody-is-watching, nobody-is-clapping, nobody-is-writing-a-worship-song-about-your-effort work—you will find one day, to your utter and complete astonishment, that you are no longer acting patient. You simply are patient. The role you played has become the self you are. The costume has become your skin. The habit has become your heartbeat. And that, my friends, is not a lightning bolt. It is a sunrise. Slow, silent, and absolutely unstoppable. And when it comes, you won't even notice at first. You'll just be drinking your coffee one morning, and someone will cut you off in traffic, and you'll wish them well—genuinely—and then you'll catch yourself in the rearview mirror and laugh out loud, because the thing you were striving for has become the thing you are. The swimmer has become the swimming. The patient one has become the patience. And God, the Great Physician, the Master Swimming Instructor, the Captain of the Wind, will smile and say, "Finally, you got in the water. I've been waiting. Now let's go a little deeper."
continuation chapter two 2.2 Now, don't misunderstand me. ‎ ‎So it is with righteousness. ‎ ‎And this brings us to the great confusion, the grand misunderstanding that has produced more theatrical saints than a Hollywood casting call. ‎ ‎What, then, is this work we must do? ‎ ‎And if you will do this work—this unsexy, unglamorous, nobody-is-watching, nobody-is-clapping, nobody-is-writing-a-worship-song-about-your-effort work—you will find one day, to your utter and complete astonishment, that you are no longer acting patient. Now let's go a little deeper." ‎
