• Be Careful: You May Have Earthly Documents and Lack Heavenly Documents.

In today’s world, people pursue earthly documents—certificates, passports, land titles, licenses, contracts, and accolades.

These documents grant access, identity, and privilege on earth. Yet Scripture warns that there are heavenly documents—records kept by God—that ultimately determine eternal destiny.

A person may be fully documented on earth and still be undocumented in heaven.

This sermon calls us to examine not what we carry in our files, but what is written in God’s books.

    1. Earthly Documents Are Temporary

Earthly documents have value—but only within time.

    Degrees expire in relevance.

    Passports lose validity.

    Properties change ownership.

    Positions end.

Jesus illustrated this with the rich fool who had barns full but a soul empty (Luke 12:16–21). When death came, his earthly records could not negotiate with eternity.

Lesson: Earthly documents expire at death; heavenly documents speak beyond death.

    2. Heaven Keeps Records

The Bible clearly teaches that heaven has books.

Book of Life (Revelation 20:12; Philippians 4:3)

    Book of Works/Remembrance (Malachi 3:16)

Your name, faith, obedience, motives, and stewardship are recorded. Salvation is not assumed; it is recorded. Service is not forgotten; it is documented.

Lesson: Heaven is not casual; it is organized and exact.

    3. Religious Activity Is Not the Same as Heavenly Approval

Jesus warned that many will present impressive earthly spiritual credentials:

    “We prophesied…”

    “We cast out demons…”

    “We did many wonders…”

Yet He will reply, “I never knew you” (Matthew 7:21–23).

Lesson: Ministry activity without relationship does not register as heavenly documentation.

    4. Citizenship Determines Access

Paul declares, “Our citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20).
Just as a visa or passport determines border access, citizenship in Christ determines entry into God’s kingdom.

    Earthly citizenship gives national access.

    Heavenly citizenship gives eternal access.

Lesson: You can be legally recognized by a nation and still be unknown in heaven.

    5. How to Secure Heavenly Documents

Heavenly documentation is not earned by works alone but is authenticated by faith that produces obedience.

    a. Salvation through Christ

John 14:6 – Jesus is the only way.

Acts 4:12 – No other name by which we must be saved.

    b. A Life of Obedience and Holiness

Hebrews 12:14 – Without holiness no one will see the Lord.

    c. Faithful Stewardship and Service

Matthew 25:21 – “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

    d. Endurance to the End

Revelation 3:5 – Names can be blotted out or retained.

Lesson: Heavenly documents are secured by salvation, sustained by obedience, and confirmed by perseverance.

    6. The Final Audit

Every life will face a final audit before God.

    Earthly files will be closed.

    Heavenly books will be opened.

No lawyer, title, or certificate will speak for you—only what is written in heaven.

2 Corinthians 5:10 reminds us that everyone will appear before Christ’s judgment seat.

    Conclusion

Be careful. Do not invest your entire life in documents that end at the grave while neglecting records that speak in eternity.

Ensure that while your name appears in earthly registries, it is also written in the Book of Life.

    Final Question:
If heaven were to open its records today, would your name be found?

    Prayer
“Lord, search my life. Remove every false confidence. Write my name in the Book of Life, align my works with Your will, and help me live with eternity in view, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

  • What Are You Busy Doing for God in Your Generation?

    Every generation has an assignment from God. God does not create people to merely exist;

He creates them to serve His purpose within their generation.

The critical question is not how busy you are, but what you are busy doing for God.

Many people are active, yet irrelevant to God’s eternal agenda.

David’s life gives us a clear benchmark: he served his generation according to the will of God.

When his assignment was completed, heaven closed his chapter honorably.

    1. BUSY DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN PRODUCTIVE FOR GOD

    Luke 10:40–42
Martha was busy serving, yet Jesus said Mary chose the better part.

You can be busy in church activities but absent from God’s purpose.

Busy with programs, but not with prayer

Busy with titles, but not with obedience

Busy with crowds, but not with God

    God values obedience above activity.

    2. EVERY GENERATION HAS A DIVINE ASSIGNMENT

    Esther 4:14
“Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Esther was positioned strategically for her generation.

Failure to act would not stop God’s plan, but it would disqualify her from relevance.

If you refuse your assignment, God will raise another—but you will lose your place.

    3. WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING FOR GOD?

    Genesis 6:9–22
While others were eating, drinking, and mocking, Noah was busy building the ark.

    Noah built while others played

Noah prepared while others ignored God

Noah labored for a future generation he would never see

What spiritual ark are you building that will save others after you?

    4. GOD REMEMBERS THOSE WHO LABOR FOR HIM

    Nehemiah 5:19
“Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.”

    God keeps records. He remembers:

    Faithful servants

    Hidden intercessors

    Kingdom builders

    Soul winners

Nothing done sincerely for God is ever forgotten.

    5. MANY ARE BUSY WITH EARTH, BUT EMPTY TOWARD HEAVEN

Luke 12:16–21 – The Rich Fool
He was busy expanding barns but ignored eternity.

Success without God is failure in disguise.

    You can:

** Build houses and lose your soul

** Gain wealth and lose purpose

** Be known on earth but unknown in heaven

    Matthew 16:26

    6. GOD EXPECTS RESULTS, NOT EXCUSES

Matthew 25:14–30 – Parable of the Talents

Each servant was given something. The issue was not how much, but what they did with it.

    God will ask:

What did you do with the gift?

    Who did you serve?

    Whose life did you impact?

Silence will not be an acceptable answer.

    7. A GENERATION WILL RISE AND ASK QUESTIONS

    Judges 2:10

“There arose another generation… which knew not the LORD.”

This is a tragic verdict on a previous generation that failed to transfer spiritual values.

    Responsibility:

Your generation must not leave God unknown to the next.

    CONCLUSION

Life is short. Generations pass quickly. Only what is done for God endures.

    1 Corinthians 15:58

“Be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”

One day your generation will close.

    Heaven will ask one question:

“Did you serve your generation according to the will of God?”

    ALTAR CALL

    QUESTIONS
What am I busy doing that has no eternal value?

Am I serving God’s agenda or my comfort?

If I die today, what spiritual evidence will remain?

    CLOSING PRAYER

“Lord, deliver me from empty busyness.

Align my life with Your purpose.

Help me serve my generation according to Your will.

Let my life count for eternity, in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
