• Since the fall, the church has a task of redemption through Christ. Man must be restored into fellowship with God; this fellowship requires the restoration of man first of all into God’s grace: salvation. The work then is the application of the aspects of God’s image, righteousness, holiness, knowledge, and dominion, to every area of life and thought. The church is God’s armory for this purpose. The church issues God’s draft or conscription call, trains the troops for action, and sends them out weekly to conquer in Christ’s name.
    R. J. Rushdoony, from The Institutes of Biblical Law, Volume 1 (1973)

    OLD TESTAMENT
1 SAMUEL 3 — The Lord Calls Samuel
    NEW TESTAMENT
REVELATION 1 — The Revelation of Jesus Christ
Congratulations on completing the book of Jude! Today we begin the book of Revelation.
    MAJOR PROPHETS
    ISAIAH 38 — Hezekiah's Illness and Prayer
    TODAY'S REFLECTION
    1 Samuel 3
Samuel hears God's voice and learns to respond with obedience: “Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.” God was preparing Samuel for his calling. We too must cultivate a heart that is willing to listen and obey.
    Revelation 1
John receives a powerful revelation of Jesus Christ. Christ is revealed as the risen and glorified Lord who holds authority over His Church. The chapter reminds us that Jesus is with His people and remains Lord over everything.
    Isaiah 38
Hezekiah becomes seriously ill and turns to God in prayer. God hears him and gives him additional years of life. His story reminds us that we can bring our deepest concerns honestly before God.
    KEY VERSE
“Speak, LORD, for your servant is listening.”
    — 1 Samuel 3:9
    PRAYER
Heavenly Father, give us hearts that are ready to hear and obey Your voice. Help us recognize Your leading and remain faithful to Your calling. Strengthen our faith as we study Revelation and remind us that Jesus Christ is Lord over all. Teach us, like Hezekiah, to bring every situation before You in prayer. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
    TODAY'S CHALLENGE
Create quiet time to listen to God today. Read His Word attentively, pray sincerely, and be willing to obey whatever He places on your heart.
WE STUDY. WE PRAY. WE OBEY. WE GROW. UNTIL WE ARE TOTALLY TRANSFORMED.

  • Actor Dennis Quaid has opened up about a powerful spiritual moment that he says altered the course of his life and strengthened his faith in Christ.
In a candid interview, Quaid described experiencing a sudden “white light” vision during a dark period marked by addiction and personal struggles. He said the intense moment allowed him to clearly see a future of destruction — “dead or in jail or losing everything” — which became a turning point.
The experience prompted him to seek help the very next day and eventually led him back to a deeper relationship with God. Quaid has credited his Christian faith with helping him overcome addiction and find lasting peace.
His testimony has resonated widely online, with many sharing similar stories of dramatic spiritual encounters that sparked personal transformation.
The veteran actor continues to speak openly about how faith helped him navigate Hollywood and life’s challenges.

  • LEP'S FAITH QUOTES: God Has a Greater Plan 8/27 Thursday Thoughts
God will do great things for us if we are prepared to receive them from Him. We are dull of comprehension because we let the cares of this world blind our eyes, but if we keep open to God, He has a greater plan for us in the future than we have seen or ever have dreamed about in the past.

  • Dolly Parton stepped away from worldwide touring to cook daily meals for Carl Dean, honoring nearly 60 years of marriage far away from the spotlight.
When Carl Dean passed away at age 82 in early 2025, it marked the quiet finish of an extraordinary partnership that began in 1964 outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville. For decades, Dean chose to stay on their Brentwood farm, running his asphalt-paving business and avoiding red carpets while his wife performed around the globe. He gave her the freedom to build an empire, never asking her to slow down.
When his health began declining in his later years, Parton made an intentional choice to reverse the rhythm of their entire lives. She scaled back major arena dates, kept medical personnel to a minimum, and took over his day-to-day care herself in their private kitchen. Rather than bringing public attention to his illness, she cooked familiar Southern comfort food and protected the boundary they had built together.
The woman who spent half a century commanding the world's biggest stages spent his final chapter grounding their home in quiet devotion. The early foundation built by a private man who never sought fame explains how their bond endured decades of international stardom.

  • EVERYONE CHOSE MONEY… BUT HIS CHOICE SHOCKED THEM ALL!

A philanthropist gave a group of needy people a choice between cash and the Holy Bible.

One after another, they chose the money.

But one young man saw a weak, sick elderly man in a wheelchair who desperately needed help. He made an incredible decision—he gave his cash to the old man.

Then he turned back and chose the Bible.

When asked why, his answer touched everyone:

“I can work for money… but God’s Word is priceless.”

May this story remind us that while money can solve temporary problems, God's Word gives wisdom, hope, direction, and eternal value.

What would you choose—Money or the Bible?

  • CHRISTIANITY IS A LIFELONG JOURNEY

How long does it take a Christian to reach completeness, to become spiritually mature; to display all God intends him to be? The simple answer: a lifetime. Christianity is a lifelong journey, an adventure. It's not an event or a temporary project.

In Phillipians 3, Paul had just written about his goals to gain Christ, and be found in Him with the righteousness that comes only through faith in the sinless Son of God. He wanted to know Christ and the power of His resurrection, even through fellowship with His suffering. (Phil. 3, 8-11)

Paul had come far in his spiritual growth, he had completely surrendered all his former status for the cause of the gospel of Christ. He had progressed from persecuting followers of Jesus to teaching believers how to live the christian life. (Phil. 3, 17)

Throughout the epistles, christians are instructed and encouraged to "grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord". We are to "press on ... that we may "lay hold of that which Christ Jesus" has obtained for us. (Phil. 3, 12)

"Press on" suggests pursuing the goal with all deliberate speed and intentionality. It is a continual action and each new day presents another opportunity to become more of what God has designed us to be.
