Devotion: Hebrews 13:5-6
Hebrews: 13:5-6: “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you or forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” [NKJV]
It is natural for us to be afraid, especially when we see the horrors of the world increasing around us.
Of course we are scared. We may worry that evil would eventually befall us. We look at the terrible events happening in the world with bated breath, waiting for the bad things to happen to us. We shouldn’t, though, because….
God tells us that He will never leave us. He is always present in our lives.
Whatever the future holds, we need to be steadfast in our belief, in our conduct, in our everyday lives, that all we do or think or say is aimed to glorify God alone.
We need not fear the future, because the Almighty is on our side. Stand in His shadow and you will always be protected.
Hold these words close to your heart and fear will have no power over you: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4.
I therefore encourage you to bravely take a stand against the world. Clothe yourself in the full armor of God, ready to enter into battle with whomever means to harm you or do evil, every temptation, and every trouble.
Hold on to your faith and take comfort in the fact that the light of our living God covers you, like a cloak, so that you can carry on throughout your days with a spirit of joy, happiness and the total absence of fear.
