Psalm 16 is a beautiful declaration of complete trust in the Lord. David says, “Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.” He recognizes that every good thing comes from God and refuses to pursue the false gods and empty promises of the world. The Lord is David’s portion. God counsels him, strengthens him, and keeps him secure. Because David continually places the Lord before him, he knows he will not be shaken. Psalm 16 also points prophetically to Jesus Christ. David’s words about not being abandoned to the grave find their ultimate fulfillment in the resurrection of Christ.
