  • Have you ever felt unseen?

    Overlooked.
    Forgotten.
Wondering if anyone truly knows the weight you're carrying.

The beautiful truth is this: God sees you.

El Roi—"The God Who Sees Me"—is the name Hagar gave to the Lord after He found her alone in the wilderness. While others rejected her, God pursued her. He saw her pain, heard her cries, and reminded her that she was never forgotten.

The same God still sees today.

He sees the tears you cry in silence.
He sees the prayers you whisper when no one else hears.
He sees the battles you fight behind your smile.
And He sees the purpose He has placed within you.

You are not invisible to Heaven.
You are deeply known, completely loved, and forever held in His hands.

Whatever wilderness you find yourself in today, remember this:

    El Roi sees you.
    He has not abandoned you.
His grace is already reaching toward you.

"She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: 'You are the God who sees me.'" — Genesis 16:13

If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs the reminder that they are seen by God.

    #FONDATION_DE_NOTRE_FOIS

    Bonjour bien-aimés,
Notre thème d’aujourd’hui porte sur : *« LA PAROLE DE DIEU, VÉRITABLE FONDATION DE NOTRE FOI »*

2 Rois 5:10-14.

    Rebekah- Bride of Isaac

Rebekah’s marriage to Isaac is seen as a foreshadowing of the church as the bride of Christ. Rebekah gave up everything she knew to marry Isaac, a man she had never met. Her kindness and generosity to the ten thirsty camels (I understand they can drink 20-30 gallons each!) drew the prayerful attention of Abraham’s servant. He extended an invitation of marriage to Isaac and she chose to immediately leave her home and family and travel far away.

Lord God, let your church be as Rebekah- overwhelmingly generous and kind, willing to serve even the lowliest, willing to go where ever you lead. Lead us to be brave and courageous in our faith, for you love us even more than Isaac.

Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev. He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?”
“He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.
Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

    Hagar-El Roi

When Hagar fled, the Lord met her. He saw her pain, he comforted her, and encouraged her. He told her what to next. And Hagar named him: El Roi אֵל רֳאִי, “the God who sees”. Hagar is the first and only person in the entire Bible to give a name to the Lord. All other names are revealed by God himself. Yet she is a woman, a slave, a foreigner, in rebellion and a runaway. No one is invisible to the Lord God in their distress. You are not invisible to the Lord God in your distress. El Roi! I could sing it all day long!

Lord God, how you love us. Not one of us is invisible to you. You search out and save the lost sheep. You fed Elijah in his sorrow and let him rest. You walk with each of us all the days of our lives- if only we had eyes to see it! And when the time is right you will comfort and deliver us from evil. Open the eyes of the world to see you and to seek you, as you do for us. Praises be to El Roi!

The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
“I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered.
Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.”
The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.”
The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery.”
…She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

  • Be reminded.

The first person recorded in Scripture to give God a personal name wasn't Abraham.

    It wasn't Moses.

    It wasn't David.

It was Hagar—a pregnant Egyptian servant who had been rejected, mistreated, and left alone in the wilderness.

When everyone else saw a slave...

    God saw a daughter.

    When everyone else overlooked her...

    God called her by name.

    When everyone else forgot her...

God met her beside a desert spring.

That's why Hagar called Him "El Roi"—"The God Who Sees Me."

    Maybe you've been overlooked.
    Maybe you've been misunderstood.
Maybe you've been wondering if anyone notices your pain.

The same God who saw Hagar still sees people today.

    He sees every tear.
    He hears every prayer.
    He knows your name.
And He has not forgotten you.

"She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: 'You are the God who sees me.'" — Genesis 16:13

Genesis 21:17-18 And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, "What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.
"Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation."
Genesis 16:7-15 Now the Angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur.
And He said, "Hagar, Sara's maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?" She said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai."
The Angel of the LORD said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand."
Then the Angel of the LORD said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude."
And the Angel of the LORD said to her; "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the LORD has heard your affliction.
He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man's hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."
Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, "Have I also here seen Him who sees me?"
Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi, observe, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.
