• ‎The Danger of Commercializing God’s Work

‎We live in a time when many who once served God with purity now serve Him with a price tag.

‎What was once ministry has now become market. What was once service has become service rendered only if paid for.

‎The altar is losing honor because many hands are now working for money, not for God.

‎This sermon calls the Church back to purity, sacrifice, and genuine service.

‎1. GOD NEVER DESIGNED MINISTRY TO BE A BUSINESS

‎Ministry is a calling, not a career. It is an assignment, not an advertisement.

‎Matthew 10:8 – “Freely you have received, freely give.”

‎Jesus reminded His disciples that everything they had came by grace, not by payment.

‎The anointing is not for sale. Miracles are not for sale. Prayers are not for sale.

‎When ministry becomes a market, the power of God departs.

‎2. COMMERCIALIZING GOD’S WORK IS A SIGN OF CORRUPTION

‎When Gehazi saw money instead of ministry, he lost destiny.

‎2 Kings 5:20–27 – Gehazi chased Naaman for money after the prophet refused it.
    ‎The result? Leprosy.

‎Many Christians today are chasing “Naaman money” instead of “Elisha purity.”

‎When your priority changes from souls to salary, you are already corrupting the calling.

‎3. TRUE SERVANTS DON’T SERVE FOR PAYMENT, THEY SERVE FOR GOD

‎Colossians 3:23–24 – “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men… knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward.”

‎God is the One who rewards His servants.

‎Money is not wrong, but making money the reason for ministry is wrong.

‎If you are a chorister, drummer, usher, evangelist, media worker, or cleaner and you only work when paid, you are no longer serving God—you are serving salary.

‎4. JESUS HIMSELF REBUKED THE SPIRIT OF COMMERCIALIZATION

‎John 2:13–16 – Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers.
‎He said: “You have turned My Father’s house into a marketplace!”

‎This is the same cry of the Spirit today.

    ‎Church is not a shop.
‎The altar is not an ATM.
‎The anointing is not for hire.

‎Anything done in God’s name for money loses heaven’s approval.

‎5. WHEN YOU COMMERCIALIZE YOUR GIFT, YOU LIMIT GOD’S USE OF YOU

‎When money becomes your master, God steps aside.

‎Matthew 6:24 – “You cannot serve God and mammon.”

‎Many lose spiritual gifts because they commercialized them.

‎The Holy Spirit withdraws where money becomes priority.

‎You cannot be both a minister and a merchant at the same time.

‎6. GOD BLESSES THOSE WHO SERVE HIM FREELY

‎Those who serve without price earn God’s supernatural provision.

‎1 Corinthians 9:18 – Paul said he preached the gospel “without charge.”
‎He knew that real reward comes from heaven, not honorarium.

‎When you put God first, He puts your destiny first.

‎7. A WARNING TO THOSE WHO TURN THE CALLING INTO A CAREER

‎God warned Israel about prophets who prophesied for money.

    ‎Micah 3:11 – “Her prophets divine for money…”
‎God condemned them and declared judgment.

‎Anyone who commercializes God’s gift is walking in dangerous territory.

    ‎The calling is holy.
‎Don’t turn it into a business.

‎8. A CALL BACK TO TRUE SERVICE

‎Return to the days when you sang without pay…

‎When you drummed without expecting transport fare…

    ‎When you cleaned God’s house with joy…

‎When evangelism was your passion, not your payment.

‎Romans 12:11 – “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”

    ‎Serve the Lord—not money.

‎You cannot carry power if your heart is full of price tags.

‎You cannot be used by God when you are ruled by money.

‎God is calling His people back to purity, sincerity, and genuine service.

    ‎Let ministry remain ministry.

    ‎Let God’s work remain holy.

‎Let your gift bring glory to God, not money to your pocket.

    ‎PRAYER
‎Father, purify my heart. Deliver me from the spirit of commercialization. Restore in me the joy of true service. Help me to serve You with sincerity and sacrifice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    ‎Pastor Abiodun Kadri

  • A BROKEN COMMITMENT: WHY YOU STOPPED SERVING IN GOD’S HOUSE

Every believer is called to serve in God’s house.

Some started with fire—choir, ushering, evangelism, media, cleaning, intercession—but along the line, something happened.

The commitment broke. The passion faded. The service stopped. Today, God is calling His children to return.

    1. YOUR SERVICE IS A COVENANT, NOT A CASUAL ACT

Serving God is a spiritual covenant. It is not a voluntary hobby; it is a divine responsibility.

Deuteronomy 10:12 – “What does the Lord require of you… to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Serving God is not optional; it is a requirement. Many broke their commitment because they lost sight of the covenant nature of service.

    2. MANY STOPPED SERVING BECAUSE OF OFFENCE

Church hurt, misunderstanding, gossip, rejection, and conflict have stopped many from serving.

Matthew 24:10 – “And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.”

Offence is Satan’s most successful weapon to break a believer’s commitment.

You don’t stop serving God because humans offended you. God did not offend you.

    3. SOME STOPPED BECAUSE THEIR SERVICE BECAME BUSINESS

Many who once served freely now charge money for choir ministration, drumming, media, ushering, or evangelism.

Matthew 6:24 – “You cannot serve God and mammon.”

When service becomes a contract, the anointing is lost. God rejects service driven by money, not love.

    4. OTHERS STOPPED BECAUSE THEIR PRIORITY SHIFTED

Work, school, business, relationships, and personal ambition can break your commitment when placed above God.

Haggai 1:4 – “Is it time for you to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies in ruins?”

Your life will always suffer when the things of God are no longer your priority.

    5. SOME LOST THEIR FIRE DUE TO SPIRITUAL WEAKNESS

When prayer life dies, service automatically dies.

Romans 12:11 – “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”

Where there is no fervency, there is no service.

    6. GOD REMEMBERS YOUR SERVICE—BUT HE ALSO NOTICES YOUR STOPPAGE

God never forgets past service, but He also notices when you walk away.

Hebrews 6:10 – “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love…”

He remembers your commitment but is calling you to return.

    7. THE DANGER OF BROKEN COMMITMENT

    When a believer stops serving:

    * Their spiritual covering reduces

    * Their passion weakens

    * Their gifts decay

    * Their reward is affected

    * Their intimacy with God drops

Luke 9:62 – “No one who puts his hand to the plough and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

    * Breaking commitment affects your destiny.

    8. GOD DOES NOT BLESS TALENT—HE BLESSES SERVICE

You may be gifted, but if you are not serving, you are not useful in the kingdom.

1 Peter 4:10 – “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…”

Your gift was given for service, not decoration.

    9. RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE

God is calling you back to where you started before life and situations distracted you.

Revelation 2:4–5 – “You have forsaken your first love… Remember… Repent… and do the works you did at first.”

    - Go back to choir.
    - Go back to evangelism.
    - Go back to service.
    - Go back to where your heart once burned for God.

    10. GOD STILL HAS NEED OF YOU

Even if you stopped, even if you failed, God is still calling: “Return to service.”

Isaiah 6:8 – “Here am I; send me!”

God is waiting for those who will rise again and restore their commitment.

Your commitment may have broken—but God’s love for you has not broken.

He is calling you back to rebuild, to renew, and to serve Him again with passion, humility, and faithfulness.

    PRAYER
Father, restore my commitment. Rekindle my fire. Heal my wounds. Reset my priorities. Empower me to serve You faithfully again. Amen.
