HOW SABBATH IS OBSERVED IN HEAVEN.

IF HEAVEN WILL HONOR IT, HOW DARE EARTH TREAT IT CARELESSLY?

The Sabbath is not ordinary time.
It is not man’s religious invention.
It is not a weekly option.

The Sabbath is God’s holy appointment with His people.

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” — Exodus 20:8
“The seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God.” — Exodus 20:10
“From one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.” — Isaiah 66:23

If Sabbath was holy in Eden, holy in God’s law, honored by Jesus, watched by heaven, and celebrated in the new earth—

WHY WOULD GOD’S PEOPLE TREAT LIGHTLY WHAT HEAVEN WILL HONOR ETERNALLY?

1. THE SABBATH IS SACRED BECAUSE GOD MADE IT HOLY

The Sabbath was not created by churches, councils, or human tradition.

It was blessed by God Himself.

“God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.” — Genesis 2:2–3

God rested.
God blessed.
God sanctified.

So man did not make the Sabbath holy—
and man has no right to make it common.

“What thing soever God doeth, it shall be for ever.” — Ecclesiastes 3:14

THE SABBATH IS NOT OUR TIME TO SPEND—
IT IS GOD’S TIME TO HONOR.

2. THE SABBATH MUST BE KEPT WITH REVERENCE—NOT CARELESSNESS

A solemn warning is given:

> “Far more sacredness is attached to the Sabbath than is given it by many professed Sabbathkeepers… He calls for a reform in the observance of the Sabbath.”

This cuts deep.

Many defend the Sabbath in doctrine—
but dishonor it in practice.

Many know the seventh day—
but fill it with common talk, worldly thoughts, careless habits, and spiritual laziness.

It is possible to defend the Sabbath with the mouth
while breaking its sacredness with the life.

THE SABBATH IS NOT MERELY TO BE PROVED.
IT IS TO BE KEPT HOLY.

3. THE SABBATH REQUIRES A HOLY MIND

Sabbath-keeping is not only resting the body.
It is lifting the mind to God.

> “God requires not only that we refrain from physical labor upon the Sabbath, but that the mind be disciplined to dwell upon sacred themes.”

The Sabbath can be broken by the hands—
but also by the tongue.

It can be violated by work—
but also by worldly conversation.

“Call the sabbath a delight… not doing thine own ways… nor speaking thine own words.” — Isaiah 58:13

4. THE SABBATH MUST BE PREPARED FOR BEFORE IT ARRIVES

Holy time deserves holy preparation.

> “All through the week we are to have the Sabbath in mind and be making preparation to keep it according to the commandment.”

Prepare the home.
Prepare the food.
Prepare the clothes.
Prepare the schedule.
Prepare the heart.

“Tomorrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD.” — Exodus 16:23

Last-minute Sabbath carelessness often reveals that holy time was not treasured through the week.

5. THE SABBATH IS A SIGN OF SANCTIFICATION

The Sabbath is not legalism when kept through love.

It is God’s sign that He is making His people holy.

> “To those who keep holy the Sabbath day it is the sign of sanctification.”

6. HEAVEN WATCHES HOW WE HONOR THE SABBATH

Sabbath-keeping is not a private routine.
It is a testimony before heaven.

When you choose worship over work—heaven sees.
When you guard your words—heaven sees.
When you turn from worldly pleasure—heaven sees.

God calls the Sabbath a delight.

8. THE SABBATH REVEALS WHETHER WE LOVE GOD’S WILL

Many say they love God.
But Sabbath tests whether God’s will is above self.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” — John 14:15

The Sabbath asks:

Will God’s time outrank my plans?
Will God’s command outrank my convenience?
Will God’s holiness outrank my habits?
Will God’s Word outrank man’s tradition?

“Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” — Revelation 14:12

THE SABBATH IS A WEEKLY TEST OF LOVE:
WILL GOD BE FIRST—OR WILL SELF RULE?

9. THE SABBATH IS PART OF THE FINAL WORSHIP ISSUE

The final message calls the world back to the Creator.

“Worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” — Revelation 14:7

That language echoes the fourth commandment:

“For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is.” — Exodus 20:11

The final issue is worship.
The final issue is loyalty.
The final issue is authority.
The final issue is obedience.

THE SABBATH QUESTION IS REALLY A WORSHIP QUESTION:
WHOSE AUTHORITY WILL YOU HONOR?

Imagine a king preparing a weekly royal appointment with his children.

The palace is open.
The table is ready.
The Father waits.

But one child says, “I am too busy.”
Another says, “Any day is fine.”
Another says, “That appointment is old.”
Another says, “I love the King, but I will choose my own time.”

Then the King says:

“I DID NOT ASK YOU TO CREATE THE APPOINTMENT.
I ASKED YOU TO REMEMBER IT.”

Beloved, that is the Sabbath.

God did not ask man to invent holy time.
He asked man to remember the time He already made holy.

TO TREAT THE SABBATH CARELESSLY
IS TO TREAT THE KING’S APPOINTMENT AS COMMON.

HOW SABBATH IS OBSERVED IN HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH

The Bible gives the answer:

“From one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.” — Isaiah 66:23

In heaven’s atmosphere, Sabbath is not forced—
it is loved.

It is not endured—
it is enjoyed.

It is not rushed—
it is reverenced.

It is not treated as common—
it is honored as holy.

> “From one Sabbath to another the inhabitants of the glorified new earth shall go up to worship before Me, saith the Lord.”

SABBATH ON EARTH IS TRAINING FOR SABBATH IN GLORY.

Will Sabbath be honored in heaven?

The Bible says yes.

WILL IT BE HONORED IN YOUR HEART NOW?

If heaven will celebrate it, why should earth neglect it?
If God blessed it, why should man replace it?
If Christ is Lord of it, why should His people treat it lightly?

THE SABBATH IS NOT MAN’S OPTIONAL TRADITION.

Beloved, the Sabbath is heaven touching earth.

It is Eden’s reminder.
It is Calvary’s rest.
It is God’s sign of sanctification.

So do not wait for heaven to honor what God has already made holy.

Angels are hovering around yonder dwelling. The young are there assembled; there is the sound of vocal and instrumental music. Christians are gathered there, but what is that you hear? It is a song, a frivolous ditty, fit for the dance hall. Behold, the pure angels gather their light closer around them, and darkness envelops those in that dwelling. The angels are moving from the scene. Sadness is upon their countenances. Behold, they are weeping. This I saw repeated a number of times all through the ranks of Sabbathkeepers, and especially in ———. Music has occupied the hours which should have been devoted to prayer. Music is the idol which many professed Sabbath-keeping Christians worship. Satan has no objection to music, if he can make that a channel through which to gain access to the minds of the youth. Anything will suit his purpose that will divert the mind from God, and engage the time which should be devoted to His service. He works through the means which will exert the strongest influence to hold the largest numbers in a pleasing infatuation, while they are paralyzed by his power. When turned to good account, music is a blessing, but it is often made one of Satan’s most attractive agencies to ensnare souls. When abused, it leads the unconsecrated to pride, vanity, and folly. When allowed to take the place of devotion and prayer, it is a terrible curse. Young persons assemble to sing and, although professed Christians, frequently dishonor God and their faith by their frivolous conversation and their choice of music. Sacred music is not congenial to their taste. I was directed to the plain teachings of God’s Word, which had been passed by unnoticed.
