Theme: If God Is Good and Loving, Why Does He Allow Suffering?
Series: Trusting God in Hard Times

    Scripture:
"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit."
    — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

Devotional Message: Love That Stays in the Storm
If God is truly good… why does He allow so much pain in the world?

It’s a question that echoes in hospital rooms, funerals, silent nights, and anxious hearts.
But Scripture doesn’t hide from it — it speaks right into it.

The Bible shows us that God doesn’t cause all suffering — but He never wastes it.
He is not absent in our pain. He is nearest when it hurts the most.

We live in a broken world, fractured by sin and human choices. Evil exists not because God is unloving, but because love requires free will — and free will opens the door to both beauty and brokenness.

But God does something radical: He steps into our suffering.
Jesus — the perfect Son of God — felt grief, betrayal, injustice, and even death.
He didn’t just watch the world suffer — He joined us in it, to redeem us through it.

God may not always explain our pain, but He always enters it.
He may not remove every storm, but He walks on the waves with us.
He doesn’t promise a pain-free life — but He promises never to leave us in it.

Even in tears, God is working. Even in silence, He is present.

Have you ever questioned God’s goodness because of what you were going through?
Are you waiting for an explanation instead of trusting in His presence?
Could it be that your pain is a place where God wants to show His power?

Your suffering isn’t a sign that God is absent — it’s a space where He draws closest.

    Today’s Reminder:
God may not always take the pain away, but He always stays.
The cross is proof: He doesn’t run from pain — He redeems it.
Your suffering is not the end of your story. It's a chapter God can still use.

    Prayer Point:
    Father,
There are days when I don’t understand why things happen the way they do.
But today, I choose to trust You in the mystery.
I lay down the need for answers and receive the comfort of Your presence.
Use even my suffering for something greater.
Let me feel Your nearness in my brokenness.
You are still good. And You are still God.
    Amen.

    🗣 Declaration of Faith:
Even when I don't understand, I will trust the One who understands me.
My suffering is not wasted — it is being woven into God’s greater plan.
I am not alone in my pain.
Jesus is with me. God is for me.
And His love holds me through every storm.
