  • WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET: A LIFE STORY IN MY OWN WORDS CHRONICLES A
REMARKABLE JOURNEY OF FAITH AND RESILIENCE
Mr. Ben E. Brady shares an honest memoir that reflects on hardship, redemption, and a lifetime of unexpected experiences shaped by enduring faith.

New York, NY, July 25, 2026 — Mr. Ben E. Brady presents What You See Is What You Get: A Life Story in My Own Words, a compelling memoir that recounts a lifetime marked by extraordinary challenges, unexpected opportunities, and
unwavering faith. From his premature birth in Lowell, Massachusetts, to careers and adventures that carried him across the United States, Brady's story offers readers a candid account of perseverance, personal growth, and spiritual transformation.

In What You See Is What You Get: A Life Story in My Own Words, Brady reflects on the many chapters of a life that defies convention. His journey includes experiences ranging from performing music in neighborhood venues while
sharing his Christian faith to serving as a Justice of the Peace in Texas, along with numerous other unexpected turns that reveal both personal struggle and remarkable determination.

The inspiration for the memoir comes from Brady's desire to share his life exactly as he lived it, without embellishment or pretense. Looking back across decades of hardship, personal loss, professional change, and spiritual renewal, he
recognized an opportunity to document the faith that sustained him through every season. His honest reflections encourage readers to see how perseverance, humility, and trust in God can shape even the most unpredictable life
    journey.

Beyond recounting memorable experiences, the memoir explores broader themes of redemption, purpose, and the enduring influence of faith. Brady demonstrates that a meaningful life is not defined by perfection but by the willingness to continue moving forward despite adversity. His story emphasizes that God's grace often becomes most visible through life's greatest trials, offering readers encouragement to embrace hope and remain faithful through
    changing circumstances.

What You See Is What You Get: A Life Story in My Own Words is written for readers who appreciate inspirational memoirs, Christian testimony, and true stories of resilience. It will resonate with individuals seeking encouragement through life's challenges as well as those interested in authentic accounts of personal transformation. Through thoughtful storytelling and heartfelt reflection, the memoir reminds readers that every experience, no matter how difficult, can contribute to a greater purpose.

Mr. Ben E. Brady draws upon a lifetime of diverse experiences, public service, music, and Christian faith to offer readers a memoir rooted in authenticity and gratitude. His commitment to honesty and his willingness to share both
victories and failures provide a compelling portrait of a life shaped by perseverance and grace. Through What You See Is What You Get: A Life Story in My Own Words, Brady leaves readers with a timeless reminder that faith can
sustain hope through every chapter of life's journey.

  • A piece of our Tharavadu (ancestral home) still lives on.

Recently, while reading about the ancient St. Thomas Christian Crosses of India, I came across the 4th-century Alangad Cross in Kerala. According to Parsi scholar B. T. Anklesaria, who specialised in Pahlavi epigraphy, the Alangad St. Thomas Cross contains an archaic Pahlavi inscription and may date back many centuries. I also revisited images of the similar cross preserved in the Pilar Church Museum in Goa.

As I explored these symbols and their history, my thoughts unexpectedly drifted back to something much closer to home — the old Aravaathil അറവാതിൽ of our ancestral house at Palackalody, Kuravilangad.

Our centuries-old Tharavadu no longer stands. Although the house itself has disappeared, one of its most treasured pieces survives: the original wooden chamber door - Aravaathil and its remarkable brass lock.

When the house was demolished, I made sure the door was preserved. It remains in Kerala today, resting on my home. The door is enormous and incredibly heavy, requiring several people to move it.

The brass lock has always fascinated me. Its handle resembles a bird — perhaps a swan or peacock — while beneath it appears a floral motif crowned by a cross. Whether the design was chosen for faith, decoration, craftsmanship, or simply the artistic tastes of another era, I cannot say with certainty. Yet it reminds me of the rich blend of culture, tradition, and belief that shaped generations of Nasrani families in Kerala.

The lock itself is probably from the 1800s rather than an ancient relic. Still, while reading about the historic St. Thomas Crosses, I found myself drawn back to this door. Not because of its age, but because of what it represents.

I was born and raised in that house. Until moving to Melbourne in 2006, I spent countless days there with my grandmother and with chinnamma a beloved member of our household who cared for our family for over fifty years. Many of the happiest memories of my childhood were created within those walls.

The old house may be gone, but part of its soul remains.

Sometimes history is not only found in museums, churches, or archaeological discoveries. Sometimes it survives quietly in a forgotten doorway, an old brass lock, and the memories carried by those who once called that place home.
