• Texas County Weather Report December 20th!

Good morning, Texas County! Today, Saturday, we are welcomed by a beautiful sunrise at 7:18 am that promises a delightful day ahead. Temperatures are noticeably higher than yesterday, giving us plenty of sunshine to lift our spirits! Expect highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 20s. It feels like we’re marching straight towards a festive Christmas day in the 70s – that’s right, no snow, no jackets, and definitely no scarves!

Speaking of festive, did you know that today is Go Caroling Day? Just five days before Christmas, this special day encourages us to celebrate the holiday spirit through song. Whether it’s with family, friends, church groups, or coworkers, caroling is a tradition that spans many cultures. Some even carol to raise money for charity, spreading joy and kindness along the way. So grab your favorite people, head out, and bring some musical cheer to your neighbors or local senior centers. Who knows? You might just inspire some unexpected smiles!

As I step into this beautiful day, I start with the wonderful reminder from Psalm 29:11: "May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace." In a world where we often encounter challenges, holding tight to the strength and peace we find in faith can illuminate our paths.

Speaking of light, let’s take a moment for today’s morning prayer: “Thanks a ton, God, for this awesome new day and for the air we're breathing!” May we carry this gratitude with us as we navigate our day.

And while we’re reflecting, I’d like to recommend a great read to accompany our thoughts: The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown https://amzn.to/3L76VIa

Brown reminds us that, “At the end of the day, we gotta move ahead with hope, not slide back into fear and division!” It’s a powerful exploration of embracing our imperfections and the courage it takes to lean into vulnerability.

Now, I’d love to hear from you! Have you ever gone caroling? What songs do you love to sing this time of year? Let's keep the conversation going! Wishing you all a warm, bright day filled with hope and joy!

  • It’s Saturday, November 29th, and we're greeted by a 7:01 AM sunrise, accompanied by some blustery weather! While we might all enjoy a little sunshine, today is shaping up to be quite a different scene. The winds are whipping, and rain is expected off and on throughout the day. Make sure you grab that umbrella because it’s going to be one of those drizzly days!

Temperatures will be hanging out in the mid-40s for the highs, but brace yourself for some chilly lows dipping into the low 20s tonight. With the wind making it feel like it’s only 29°, it’s definitely a day to bundle up! Don’t forget: we are under severe weather alerts with a Wind Advisory in effect from 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM CST. Stay safe out there, everyone!

Now, what to do on a rainy, windy day like today? Well, there’s nothing quite like curling up with a good book while the storm rages outside. I highly recommend diving into a copy of "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak at Amazon https://amzn.to/4omMggU

Set against the backdrop of Nazi Germany, it's a beautifully written tale that highlights the power of words and stories in times of hardship. Just like today’s weather, the characters face tremendous challenges, but the resilience and hope they embody are truly inspiring. Trust me, it’ll pull you right in and keep you turning pages!

Speaking of inspiration, I started my day with Abba, my Father, delving into His word in Psalm 46:1-3: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” This powerful verse reminds us that even in the harshest of storms, we can find peace and strength . It resonates perfectly with the weather outside, don’t you think?

So today, I invite you all to join the conversation! What’s your go-to book for a gloomy day? Let’s share our recommendations and maybe discover something new to read! And remember, just like the weather, our lives can have ups and downs, but we have the power to choose how we respond. Allow your aspirations, rather than your past struggles, to guide your future!

Let’s make the most of this day, no matter the weather. Share your thoughts below, and have a cozy Saturday! Remember to stay warm and dry, friends!
