  • Let's talk about it.
HOW SUNDAY BECAME THE COMMON DAY OF WORSHIP:

Many sincere Christians assume that Sunday worship was directly commanded by Jesus Christ or established by the apostles. However, when the historical record is examined, a different picture emerges. The transition from the seventh-day Sabbath to Sunday occurred gradually over several centuries through custom, church tradition, civil legislation, and ecclesiastical authority—not through an explicit biblical command.

    1. The Sabbath in the Bible

The seventh-day Sabbath was established by God at Creation (Genesis 2:1–3), written by God's own finger in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8–11), observed by Jesus (Luke 4:16), and kept by the apostles after Christ's resurrection (Acts 13:14, 42–44; Acts 16:13; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4).

Nowhere does Scripture record Jesus changing the Sabbath from the seventh day to the first day of the week.

    2. The Earliest Shift Toward Sunday

After the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 and especially after the Bar Kokhba revolt (A.D. 132–135), many Christians in the Roman Empire sought to distinguish themselves from the Jews, who were increasingly persecuted by Rome.

At the same time, the first day of the week gained importance in some Christian communities because it commemorated Christ's resurrection. Initially, Sunday was observed as a day of worship by many believers, but this did not automatically replace the biblical Sabbath everywhere. For several centuries, many Christians observed both days.

    3. Constantine's Sunday Law (A.D. 321)

A major turning point came under Emperor Constantine.

On March 7, A.D. 321, Constantine issued the first empire-wide Sunday law:

«"On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed."»

This law did not mention the Sabbath. It referred to the "venerable Day of the Sun," reflecting the Roman terminology already associated with Sunday.

Constantine's decree was a civil law, not a command found in Scripture.

    4. The Council of Laodicea (Around A.D. 363–364)

Several decades later, the Council of Laodicea addressed Sabbath observance.

    Canon 29 states:

«"Christians shall not Judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but shall work on that day; rather honoring the Lord's Day; and, if possible, resting then as Christians."»

This is one of the earliest church canons specifically discouraging Sabbath observance while encouraging Sunday.

Notice that this was a decision of a church council—not a command recorded in the Bible.

    5. The Roman Catholic Church's Claim

The Roman Catholic Church has openly acknowledged that the Bible does not explicitly command Sunday observance and has argued that the change rests upon the Church's authority.

    Among the best-known statements are:

The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (Rev. Peter Geiermann, 1910):

«Question: Which is the Sabbath day?

Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day.

Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?

Answer: Because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.»

Another well-known statement appears in The Catholic Mirror (September 23, 1893):

«"The Catholic Church... by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."»

Likewise, Cardinal James Gibbons, in The Faith of Our Fathers, argued that Sunday observance is based on the authority and tradition of the Church rather than an explicit biblical command.

    6. What Does History Show?

    The historical evidence indicates that:

Jesus never recorded a command changing the Sabbath to Sunday.

The apostles left no written command replacing the seventh-day Sabbath.

Sunday observance developed gradually in parts of the Christian world.

Constantine's law in A.D. 321 gave Sunday legal recognition.

The Council of Laodicea later discouraged Sabbath observance and promoted Sunday.

Roman Catholic writers have repeatedly acknowledged that the Church played a central role in transferring the public solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.

    7. Sunday and the Protestant–Catholic Debate

After the Protestant Reformation, the Reformers rejected many Roman Catholic doctrines and appealed to "Scripture alone" (Sola Scriptura) as the final authority for Christian faith and practice. However, although they rejected many church traditions, most Protestant churches continued to observe Sunday rather than the biblical seventh-day Sabbath.

Roman Catholic writers pointed to this as evidence that Protestants still accepted the Church's authority in at least one important matter.

    Archbishop Francis A. Gasquet wrote:

«"We have transferred the rest of the Sabbath to the Lord's Day... by the authority of the Catholic Church."»

Likewise, The Catholic Mirror (1893) argued that Protestants who observe Sunday while professing Sola Scriptura acknowledge, in practice, the authority of the Catholic Church because the Bible contains no explicit command changing the Sabbath from the seventh day to the first.

During Catholic-Protestant controversies, Catholic apologists repeatedly argued that Sunday observance was one of the strongest examples of the authority claimed by the Roman Catholic Church. Their argument was straightforward: if Christians reject the Church's authority, they should also explain the biblical basis for observing Sunday instead of the seventh-day Sabbath.

Whether one agrees with that conclusion or not, history records that Roman Catholic theologians openly used Sunday observance as an argument in defense of the Church's teaching authority during debates with Protestants.

This historical fact invites every Christian to carefully examine both Scripture and history, asking not what tradition teaches, but what God has revealed in His Word.

    8. A Balanced Conclusion

History and theology are not identical. Historically, there is broad scholarly agreement that Sunday became the principal Christian day of worship through a gradual process during the early centuries of the Church. Christians differ, however, on how that development should be understood. Many Protestant churches view Sunday worship as a legitimate celebration of Christ's resurrection and apostolic practice, while the Roman Catholic Church grounds it in the Church's teaching authority. Seventh-day Adventists and several other Christian groups maintain that the biblical seventh-day Sabbath remains unchanged because Scripture contains no explicit command transferring its sanctity to Sunday.

Each believer is encouraged to examine both Scripture and history carefully, testing every teaching in the light of God's Word (Acts 17:11).

  • Faith That Brings Down Walls
When You Obey God, No Obstacle Can Stand
    Scripture: Joshua 6:1–21 (KJV)
    Key Verse
"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days." — Hebrews 11:30 (KJV)

    Thought Of The Day...
Have you ever faced a wall that seemed impossible to overcome? Perhaps it's a sickness that refuses to leave, a marriage under pressure, financial burdens that continue to grow, a wayward child, grief that won't let go, or a prayer that seems to go unanswered. We've all stood before a "Jericho" at some point in life.
The city of Jericho was not just another city—it was a fortress. Its massive walls appeared impenetrable. From a human perspective, Israel had no chance of victory. They had no siege weapons, no military strategy capable of bringing those walls down, and no logical reason to believe they could win.
But God has never been limited by what seems impossible to man.
Instead of giving Joshua a battle plan that made military sense, God gave him a faith plan. The Israelites were instructed to march around the city once each day for six days in complete silence. On the seventh day they were to march around it seven times, blow the trumpets, and shout with all their might.
To anyone watching, the instructions probably looked foolish.
Yet God's greatest victories often come through obedience that the world cannot understand.
Imagine the discipline it took for the Israelites to keep marching when nothing appeared to be happening. Day after day the walls remained standing. There were no cracks, no loose stones, and no signs of progress.
But every lap around Jericho was another step of faith.
Sometimes God asks us to keep praying when we don't see results. To keep serving when no one notices. To keep forgiving when the hurt is still fresh. To keep believing when circumstances haven't changed.
Faith doesn't always produce immediate evidence—but it always produces eventual victory.
When the seventh day arrived, the people obeyed exactly as God instructed. The priests blew their trumpets, the people lifted up a mighty shout, and the walls that had stood for years suddenly collapsed.
    Notice this carefully:
The walls didn't fall because Israel was strong.
The walls didn't fall because Joshua was a brilliant military commander.
The walls fell because God honors obedient faith.
The same God who brought down Jericho is still able to tear down the walls standing in front of His people today.
Maybe your wall is fear. Maybe it's addiction. Maybe it's depression. Maybe it's unforgiveness. Maybe it's doubt. Maybe it's an impossible situation that everyone else says cannot change.
    Don't quit marching.
    Don't stop believing.
Don't abandon God's instructions because the walls haven't moved yet.
God is often doing His greatest work while we think nothing is happening.
Your obedience today may become tomorrow's breakthrough.

    Lessons from Jericho
    1. Every Promise Requires Faith
God promised Joshua the city before the battle ever began (Joshua 6:2). Faith believes God's Word before seeing God's results.
    2. Obedience Opens the Door for Miracles
God's instructions were unusual, but obedience unlocked supernatural victory. Partial obedience never experiences the fullness of God's blessings.
    3. Waiting Is Not Wasting
For six days nothing visibly changed, yet God was preparing the miracle. God's timing is always perfect.
    4. Praise Is a Weapon
The shout of victory came before Israel entered the city. Worship often precedes breakthrough.
    5. God Specializes in Impossible Victories
Jericho reminds us that what is impossible with man is completely possible with God.

    Something to Think About...
    Ask yourself today:
    • What wall am I facing?
    • Have I been tempted to stop believing because I haven't seen results?
    • Am I willing to obey God even when His instructions don't make sense?
    • What step of faith is God asking me to take today?

    Prayer...
    Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that no wall is too high, too strong, or too impossible for You. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, doubt, or impatience to weaken my faith. Help me to trust Your Word even when I cannot yet see the breakthrough.
Give me the strength to keep marching when I grow weary, to keep praying when answers seem delayed, and to keep obeying even when Your plan doesn't make sense to me.
Tear down every wall that stands between me and Your promises. Bring down walls of fear, anxiety, discouragement, pride, unforgiveness, sickness, financial lack, broken relationships, and every stronghold the enemy has built against my life.
Teach me that victory does not come by my strength, but by Your power.
May my life become a testimony that nothing is impossible for those who trust in You.
    In Jesus' mighty name,
    Amen.

    Sunday Declaration...
Today I choose faith over fear. I will trust God's promises above my circumstances. I will obey even when I don't understand. I will keep marching even when I don't see results. Every wall standing between me and God's purpose will fall in His perfect time. The battle belongs to the Lord, and the victory belongs to His people.
    In Jesus' name, Amen.

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us." — Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)

    The Message of His Coming.

    Greatest Work in the World.

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15.

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” is Christ's command to His followers. Not that all are called to be ministers or missionaries in the ordinary sense of the term; but all may be workers with Him in giving the “glad tidings” to their fellow men. To all, great or small, learned or ignorant, old or young, the command is given.1Education, 264.

Upon every one who knows the truth for this time rests the responsibility of making it known to others. The servants of Christ are in a large measure responsible for the well-being and the salvation of the world. They are to be co-laborers with God in the work of winning souls to Christ.2The Review and Herald, March 10, 1904.

The theme that attracts the heart of the sinner is Christ, and Him crucified. On the cross of Calvary, Jesus stands revealed to the world in unparalleled love. Present Him thus to the hungering multitudes, and the light of His love will win men from darkness to light, from transgression to obedience and true holiness. Beholding Jesus upon the cross of Calvary arouses the conscience to the heinous character of sin as nothing else can do.3The Review and Herald, November 22, 1892.

Will not our church members keep their eyes fixed on a crucified and risen Saviour, in whom their hopes of eternal life are centered? This is our message, our argument, our doctrine, our warning to the impenitent, our encouragement for the sorrowing, the hope for every believer. If we can awaken an interest in men's minds that will cause them to fix their eyes on Christ, we may step aside, and ask them only to continue to fix their eyes upon the Lamb of God.... He whose eyes are fixed on Jesus will leave all. He will die to selfishness. He will believe in all the Word of God, which is so gloriously and wonderfully exalted in Christ.4SDA Bible Commentary 6:1113.

It is the privilege of every Christian, not only to look for, but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Were all who profess His name bearing fruit to His glory, how quickly the whole world would be sown with the seed of the gospel. Quickly the last harvest would be ripened, and Christ would come to gather the precious grain.5Testimonies for the Church 8:22, 23.

    A Promise of Success.

    By Ian Vandervalk

    August 1st, 2026

How many times have we relied on ourselves and our own efforts, only to fall short of our goals? How many times have we only partly depended on God when He had already given us the promise of success? When we do this, we fall short of God’s blessings because we were determined to push through on our own plans, ideas, works, and ways, rather than completely surrendering to our Father in Heaven. God has given us a promise of overcoming, yet we fail to grasp the vastness and depth of it all. At times, we seem to fall flat on our faces by only partly overcoming sin, fear, depression, marital or relationship challenges, pride, selfishness, or only partial success in the Lord’s work.

In 2 Kings 13:14–19 the Bible tells us that King Joash had the same problem. Israel had been oppressed by Syria for quite some time, and as Joash visited the dying prophet Elisha, his faith was tested. God’s prophet told the king to pick up arrows, which he called the “arrows of deliverance from Syria,” and strike the ground with them. Joash obeyed and struck the ground three times, but Elisha told him that if he’d struck five or six times, he would have had complete victory over Syria’s oppressive army! As we read further, we discover that Joash did defeat Syria three times, but never achieved complete victory, just as Elisha had told him.

I once heard a preacher say that Joash received little because he expected little; and that he expected little because he surrendered little. I can completely relate to that! I can’t even begin to count how many times I fell short because I didn’t completely surrender myself to the Lord and fully claim His promises. It’s almost a symbiotic relationship, because God has the desire to give us success and wants us to have a loving, obedient, and trusting relationship with Him. He yearns for that! He calls us His children and even gave the life of His Son, Jesus, for that relationship!

Now, I’ve shared what happens when we only partially claim His promises, but let me share what can happen when we do it fully.

I was in my last week of basic training in the Army, and it was the last of a seven-day training exercise in the middle of nowhere. This was the culmination of everything we’d learned over the past ten weeks and our final test was a 10.2 mile “ruck march” back to our base carrying approximately 50 pounds of gear in our rucksack. Over the course of basic training, I’d developed pain in my knee. At times it was even difficult to bend it, but for some reason, I hadn’t had much trouble with it that week.

Then came the ruck march. We began around 4:00 a.m., and two miles into the march, I stepped into a ditch and twisted that knee. I could no longer bend it, and the pain was so intense that I began to doubt whether I could make it to the end.

You should know that I was not a Christian at that time, but I remembered Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” so I repeated that verse over and over in my mind. Tears ran down my face from the pain, but I never stopped claiming that promise—and then came the hill.

I truly thought I wasn’t going to make it to the top, however, since soldiers often help each other when they see one struggling, I felt the weight of my rucksack lighten, and a push to help me get to the top. As we started heading down the hill, I turned to the soldier behind me and thanked him for helping me, but he looked at me funny and said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I didn’t help you.”

At the time, I didn’t understand what had just happened, but I now know that God must have sent an angel to help me. I claimed His promise in faith, reached the end of the 10.2 mile ruck march, and completed the final phase of basic training.

As you go throughout this day, this week, or this month, ask yourself if you’re really claiming God’s promises over your sins, your struggles, or your battles. What weight are you carrying or, as was the case with King Joash, what is your “Syria?” Remember to surrender all, keep striking, and obtain victory through our Lord and Savior.

By Ian Vandervalk August 1st, 2026 How many times have we relied on ourselves and our own efforts, only to fall short of our goals? I didn’t help you.” At the time, I didn’t understand what had just happened, but I now know that God must have sent an angel to help me.

  • St. Ignatius of Loyola

He was born on October 23, 1491 at the castle in Loyola in the municipality of Azpeitia, now in Spain. His baptismal name was Inigo Lopez de Loyola. He was brought up by the wife of a local blacksmith since his mother died soon after his birth. He became a servant (Page) in the house of the Treasurer of the Kingdom of Castle, who was a relative to him. In 1509 he joined the army of Viceroy of Navarre and participated in many battles without incurring any injuries to him. But one day he was injured seriously in his legs by a cannonball in a battle on May 20, 1521. During the treatment period he read De Vita Christi, a commentary on the life of Jesus and commentary on the Gospels. After reading this book, he started reading other books about Jesus and other saints. He got a mind change after reading Christian books and decided to devote his life to work for the conversion of non-Christians to Christian faith, in the Holy Land. After recovery from the leg injuries, he went to the Benedictine monastery, Santa Maria de Montserrat on March 25, 1523 and hung his military vestments before the image of the Holy Virgin Mary and went away. He then spent the next few months in a cave and practiced rigorous asceticism. He made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for about 20 days and he studied in the University of Paris. In Paris he gathered six of his friends namely Francis Xavier, Alfonso Salmeron, Diego Laynez, Nicholas Bobadilla (all Spanish), Peter Faber (French) and Simao Rodriques (Portugal) and they took solemn vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience, on August 15, 1534 and about their life long work, in the crypt of the church of Our Lady of Martyrs at, Montmartre, Loyola. They founded the Society of Jesus in 1539. He wrote the constitution of the Society of Jesus and was approved by pope Paul-III on September 27, 1540. St. Ignatius and his friends pronounced their vows in the newly found Order (The Society of Jesus) on April 22, 1541 at the church of St. Paul outside the Walls. St. Ignatius became the first Superior General (Father-General) of the Society of Jesus. The Jesuit motto is \'Ad Maiorem Dei glorium\' (for the greater glory of God).

St. Ignatius of Loyola died on July 31, 1556 in Rome due to malarial fever. He was beatified on July 27, 1609 by pope Paul-V and canonized by pope Gregory-XV on March 12, 1622.

  • Chapter One: The Art of Hitting Yourself with a Spiritual Stick

‎Let us talk about a most exquisite, silent comedy: the secret, simmering grudge so many of us hold against the very thing we claim to be chasing—righteousness, holiness, all that jazz. It’s like a man who announces to the world that he adores swimming, but every time he approaches the water, you can see his face contort into the expression of someone who has just swallowed a wasp. He splashes about furiously, grumbling, “I love this! So refreshing! Why does nobody else understand how delightful this is?” while visibly drowning in his own resentment. The man is not swimming; he is aggressively sinking in a devotional manner. As Scripture puts it, “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me” (Matthew 15:8). Jesus said that about folks who had turned worship into a grim performance, and frankly, if Jesus were at the pool today, He’d probably hand the man a life preserver and say, “Sir, your lips are praising, but your flailing arms are telling a very different gospel.”

‎Countless souls genuinely seek the truth. They roll out of bed each morning and lace up their spiritual combat boots for another day of holy trench warfare. But if you corner them with a sympathetic smile and a cup of tea, they will confess: righteousness feels like an exhausting, forced march through treacle. It feels like they have a second job—night shift—working for a Celestial Supervisor, an Ancient of Days with a celestial clipboard, ticking boxes, muttering, “Hmm, Wednesday's prayer lacked enthusiasm, minus three points. But that spontaneous act of charity had a nice flair, plus two. We’ll deduct it from your balance of existential dread.” To them, the spiritual life isn't a dance; it's a grim rebellion against a satanic kingdom, a tiresome war where the only point of the whole ridiculous fight is to secure a payout in blessings and a future mansion just beyond the clouds—a sort of deferred heavenly pension plan. No benefit now, just overtime. And out of this sweaty, joyless striving, a deep loathing grows—a hatred of the very holiness they think they are chasing. It’s like being a baker who despises the smell of bread. You’d think the baker would just quit and become an accountant, but no, he stays in the bakery, kneading dough with the face of a man attending his own tax audit, and calls it “faithfulness.”

‎And here's the beautifully absurd critical point: every attempt to fight that loathing, to whip yourself into a better, holier emotion, will fail in the long run. You cannot, by sheer muscular will, permanently maintain a feeling against a deeply held belief. That’s like trying to hold a beach ball underwater. It’s going to pop up and smack you in the face, and you will be terribly offended. You’ll blame the beach ball, you’ll rebuke the beach ball, you’ll bind the spirit of buoyancy, but the ball obeys a law higher than your panic. The cause of the emotion is a wrong view, a piece of false knowledge lodged in the mind like a piece of psychic popcorn in the gum. That, not the feeling, is what must be surgically, or perhaps humorously, removed. As the prophet Hosea lamented, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Not for lack of effort. Not for lack of all-night prayer vigils where they’ve sweated through their prayer shawls. Knowledge. But we’d rather arm-wrestle our own amygdala at 3 a.m. than admit we might have been holding the map upside down. The feeling is just the check-engine light; you can smash the dashboard with a hammer, and the engine will still be on fire.

‎The core confusion is this: man treats the symptom as the disease, and then exhausts himself fighting the symptom while the disease quietly continues its work untouched, humming a little tune. It’s like the old proverb: “As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly” (Proverbs 26:11). But the modern version would be: “As a fool attacks his own nausea while continuing to eat the same rotten wisdom, so a man rebukes his feelings while refusing to question his beliefs.” The dog gets called a fool for eating the vomit; the man gets called a theologian for fighting the resulting stomachache with fasting and decreeing. It’s a very poor reward for a digestive system that was only trying to send a memo.

‎See how the trick is played. A person holds a piece of false knowledge deep in their understanding—for example, the belief that “God is a cosmic headmaster who requires a flawless performance of spiritual gymnastics before He will even glance in my direction.” That belief, whether it’s your daily conscious monologue or a silent assumption hovering like background muzak, will produce a specific emotional harvest: dread, resentment, a heavy heart, and a sincere desire to run away from anything labeled “holiness.” The emotion is not the original problem; it is the fruit of the root. The emotion is simply the inner, felt experience of what the mind already holds to be true. It’s the echo; the shout happened long before. You don’t call the echo a liar; you check who’s doing the shouting. And unfortunately, that inner shout often sounds like a twisted version of a memory verse: “The Lord disciplines those He loves” (Hebrews 12:6) becomes “The Lord is disappointed in you before breakfast, and you should feel bad about it permanently.” That’s not Scripture; that’s a bad translation done by a committee of your insecurities.

‎Now, what does man do when he feels that dreadful inner resistance, that “Oh God, here comes another commandment” feeling? He does not trace the feeling back to the belief that caused it. Oh no. He declares a holy war on the feeling itself. He tells himself, “I should not feel this way. This resentment is a sin. I must launch a crusade against my own insides. I will try harder to conjure up authentic, Grade-A love for God and a sparkling delight in holiness.” He sets out to strangle the emotion directly—through willpower, through suppression, through whipping up a forced enthusiasm that sounds like a game show host who’s lost his cue cards, through generous helpings of self-condemnation. He approaches God’s commandments by trying to copy and paste them into his own behavioral operating system, without ever understanding why God hates sin in the first place, or why he himself, in his own right mind, might find it detestable. But the underlying belief hasn’t moved a single inch. It’s like a hidden projector in the basement, still faithfully casting its dreary movie on the screen of his consciousness. And because the belief remains unchanged, it keeps silently manufacturing the same emotion day after day. The man, in turn, keeps battling the emotion, mistaking it for the enemy, never realizing he is doing the equivalent of snipping off the leaves of a weed while giving the root a nice, warm glass of water and singing “How Great Thou Art” to the gardening shed.

  • Victory Through Obedient Faith

    Scripture

    Joshua 6:16 (NKJV)
And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people, Shout, for the Lord has given you the city.

    When Obedience Releases God’s Power

Joshua chapter 6 records the fall of Jericho, a city with massive walls and strong defenses. God’s strategy for victory made no military sense. The people were instructed to march around the city once a day for six days and seven times on the seventh day, in silence, following the ark of the covenant. No attacking. No shouting. Just obedience.

Verse 16 marks the turning point. After days of faithful obedience without visible results, Joshua declares that the Lord has given them the city. The victory was already secured by God before the walls fell. The shout was not a battle cry of effort, but a response of faith.

This moment teaches that God’s power is released through trust and obedience. Israel did not win Jericho by strength or strategy, but by doing exactly what God said, even when it seemed unusual or slow. The walls fell not because of noise, but because of obedience rooted in faith.

For believers today, Joshua 6 reminds us that breakthrough often comes after persistent obedience. God may ask us to trust Him without immediate results. Faith continues walking, listening, and obeying until God brings the victory in His timing.

    Reflection Questions

    1. Am I willing to obey God even when I do not see immediate results

    2. Where might God be asking me to trust His plan instead of my own

    3. Do I believe that God has already gone before me in my battles

    Prayer

Lord God, help me to walk in obedient faith, even when Your instructions challenge my understanding. Teach me to trust Your timing and Your power. I believe that You go before me and that victory comes through obedience to You. In Jesus name, Amen.

  • SECTION FIVE: THE GENESIS DELIVERANCE MANDATE

WELCOME TO OUR DAILY DEVOTIONAL BIBLE STUDY SERIES: REBORN TO RULE IN CHRIST JESUS: ENFORCING GOD'S SOVEREIGN AUTHORITY ON EARTH. MONDAY 20TH JULY 2026.

TOPIC OF THE DAY: THE DRY BONES OF HOPELESS SITUATIONS: HOW THE GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE REVIVES DEAD DESTINIES BY YOUR DECREE!

MAIN TEXT: Ezekiel 37:3–4 (KJV) — "And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD." CROSS-REFERENCE: Romans 4:17; Romans 8:11; Proverbs 18:21.

    INTRODUCTION:
We are living in an era of tragic spiritual casualty. A backslidden, complacent Christianity—a polite, powerless religion that bears the name of Christ but entirely denies His unadulterated power—has turned the modern church into a literal Valley of Dry Bones! Because a generation of believers has abandoned the secret place of raw, ancient holiness, they have lost their spiritual teeth.

In this state of pathetic hopelessness, they have become easy prey for the white-collared, chameleon predator preachers of our modern time. These religious charlatans merchandise the misery of the saints, peddling false hope while draining the pockets of desperate men and women who are standing over the graves of their own collapsed destinies.

But hear the roaring verdict of Heaven today! You were not reborn to be the victim of your circumstances, nor were you saved to become the prey of ecclesiastical wolves! What are the "dry bones" of our modern day? They are the stubborn ancestral curses that have buried your family in cycles of poverty. They are the medical reports of chronic, incurable diseases.

They are collapsed businesses, dead marriages, and most devastatingly, a lukewarm spiritual life that possesses no fire and no Holy Ghost conviction. The enemy has looked at the graveyard of your life and declared it impossible. But the God of the Genesis Deliverance Mandate—the God who spoke light into the absolute darkness of the primeval void—is about to awaken the sleeping Governor inside of you. It is time to stop paying a predator to pity you and start using your own mouth to prophesy!

    MAIN MESSAGE:
YOU ARE THE PROPHET OF YOUR OWN DELIVERANCE.
When the Spirit of the Lord carried Ezekiel into the Valley of Dry Bones, God did not ask him to organize a committee. He did not ask him to weep in self-pity over the state of the dead. God asked a piercing question to test the prophet's God Consciousness: "Son of man, can these bones live?"

God was waiting for a man who understood the Genesis Deliverance Mandate! In the Book of Genesis, God did not cry over the darkness; He released His Sovereign Word, and the darkness shattered. As a New Creation believer, you are made in His exact image and reborn in His likeness to rule. Therefore, Heaven’s strategy for your impossible situation is not to bypass you, but to use you! God commanded Ezekiel: "Prophesy upon these bones!"

The breath of the Almighty—the Ruach of God—is locked inside your reborn spirit, waiting for your tongue to give it a voice. The tragedy of modern Christianity is that believers run to men in white collars to speak to their dry bones, entirely ignorant that they possess the exact same Holy Ghost! The predator preacher feeds on your ignorance, but the fire of ancient holiness demands that you take up your own mantle.

Are your finances dried up at the roots? Has an ancestral curse of barrenness or premature death turned your family lineage into a valley of skeletons? Do not consult the flesh! Refuse the diagnosis of hell! You must violently rise in the Spirit and enforce the Sovereign Authority of God Almighty. You must open your mouth and issue a Genesis Decree over your hopeless situation.

When you speak the Word of God, it is not a mere mortal speaking; it is the Creator of the Universe issuing a command through your vocal cords. Bone will come to bone, sinews will stretch, flesh will cover them, and the breath of the sovereign God will resurrect your dead destiny into an exceedingly great army!

    REFERENCES TO THE MESSAGE:
The Genesis Faith: (Romans 4:17). (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. — You have the genetic spiritual makeup of God; you are built to call dead things back to life.

The Resurrection Power Within: (Romans 8:11). But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. — The very force that emptied the tomb of Jesus is lying dormant inside you, waiting for your command.

The Authority of the Tongue: (Proverbs 18:21). Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. — Your mouth is the control room of your destiny; stop using it to describe your dry bones and start using it to command them!

    REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
Have you allowed a complacent, powerless version of Christianity to reduce your life to a Valley of Dry Bones, making you reliant on manipulative men rather than the Holy Ghost within you?

What specific "dead" situation in your life (ancestral, financial, or physical) have you surrendered to hopelessness, instead of prophesying the Word of the Lord over it?

    LIFE APPLICATIONS:
Terminate your subscription to hopelessness today. Identify the most impossible, dried-up situation in your life. Stop discussing it with faithless people, and absolutely refuse to be exploited by charlatans promising you a purchased miracle. Instead, lock yourself in the secret place. Activate the fire of the Holy Ghost within your belly. Open your mouth and explicitly prophesy to that exact situation. Command the ancestral curses to break, the dead wombs to open, and the collapsed finances to resurrect. Speak life until you see the manifestation!

    CONCLUSION:
Beloved, the hour of spiritual infancy has expired! God is calling you out of the graveyard of complacent Christianity. You were not reborn to be a professional pew-warmer; you were reborn to be the enforcement agent of God’s sovereign will on the earth. Let the chameleon predators fade into irrelevance as you rise in the raw, unadulterated power of the ancient holiness fathers.

SECTION FIVE: THE GENESIS DELIVERANCE MANDATE WELCOME TO OUR DAILY DEVOTIONAL BIBLE STUDY SERIES: REBORN TO RULE IN CHRIST JESUS: ENFORCING GOD'S SOVEREIGN AUTHORITY ON EARTH. INTRODUCTION: We are living in an era of tragic spiritual casualty. MAIN MESSAGE: YOU ARE THE PROPHET OF YOUR OWN DELIVERANCE. When the Spirit of the Lord carried Ezekiel into the Valley of Dry Bones, God did not ask him to organize a committee. He did not ask him to weep in self-pity over the state of the dead. God asked a piercing question to test the prophet's God Consciousness: "Son of man, can these bones live?" God was waiting for a man who understood the Genesis Deliverance Mandate! God commanded Ezekiel: "Prophesy upon these bones!" The breath of the Almighty—the Ruach of God—is locked inside your reborn spirit, waiting for your tongue to give it a voice. REFERENCES TO THE MESSAGE: The Genesis Faith: (Romans 4:17). REFLECTION QUESTIONS: Have you allowed a complacent, powerless version of Christianity to reduce your life to a Valley of Dry Bones, making you reliant on manipulative men rather than the Holy Ghost within you? What specific "dead" situation in your life (ancestral, financial, or physical) have you surrendered to hopelessness, instead of prophesying the Word of the Lord over it? LIFE APPLICATIONS: Terminate your subscription to hopelessness today. CONCLUSION: Beloved, the hour of spiritual infancy has expired! Your situation is not too dead for God, but God is waiting for you to open your mouth. The Genesis Deliverance Mandate is upon you. The breath of life is in your lungs. Speak to the dry bones! Command the impossible to become possible! Enforce your victory, and watch your dead circumstances erupt into a glorious, unstoppable testimony of the resurrected Christ! PRAYER POINTS FOR READERS: Father, let the volcanic fire of the Holy Ghost consume every trace of complacent, powerless Christianity in my life!
