*TODAY'S PROPHETIC DECLARATION - FRIDAY, 16TH OCTOBER, 2026.* _REMEMBER ETERNITY — LIVE WITH COMPASSION TODAY!_ 📖 ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: LUKE 16:24 (KJV) “And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” ✝️*REFLECTION: DO NOT IGNORE THE NEEDS OF OTHERS* In Luke 16:19–31, Jesus tells the story of a rich man who lived in luxury while a poor man named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores and longing for the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table. The rich man had abundance, but Lazarus lived in painful poverty. Every day, the suffering of Lazarus was close enough for the rich man to notice, yet the story records no act of compassion from him. Eventually, both men died. Lazarus was carried by the angels to Abraham's side, while the rich man found himself in torment. In his anguish, he pleaded for a drop of water to cool his tongue. What a painful reversal! The man who once enjoyed abundance now longed for the smallest comfort. The poor man who had suffered on earth was now comforted. Beloved, Jesus used this story to confront our attitudes towards wealth, suffering, compassion, and eternity. The rich man's problem was not simply that he possessed wealth. Scripture does not teach that every wealthy person is condemned or that poverty automatically guarantees eternal life. Rather, this parable warns us against a life of selfishness, spiritual blindness, and indifference to the suffering of others. The rich man had an opportunity to show compassion, but he failed to respond to the need at his gate. Sometimes, the person God wants you to help is closer to you than you realise. There may be someone around you who needs encouragement, a hungry person who needs food, a struggling family that needs support, a discouraged young person who needs guidance, or a lonely individual who needs someone willing to listen. You may not be able to solve every problem, but you can refuse to become indifferent. As we continue our October journey under the theme “My Month of Joy from Divine Helper,” let us remember that God's blessings should inspire gratitude, generosity, and compassion. Build your career, but build your character too. Gather possessions, but gather heavenly treasures through faith, obedience, love, and service. 🔥 LET YOUR LIFE BE PREPARED FOR ETERNITY, NOT JUST FOR EARTHLY SUCCESS! 2️⃣ NEVER BECOME BLIND TO THE SUFFERING OF OTHERS Lazarus was at the rich man's gate. His suffering was near, visible, and real. Yet the rich man's lifestyle remained unchanged. This is a warning against becoming so occupied with our own comfort that we overlook the pain of those around us. 📖 Proverbs 19:17 (KJV): “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” God values compassion towards the needy. You may not have enough money to support everyone, but you can share what you have, offer practical assistance, provide encouragement, connect someone to a genuine opportunity, or pray with a person who is struggling. Compassion is not limited to financial giving. Sometimes, it means offering your time, listening without condemnation, or helping someone find a responsible solution to a difficult situation. Do not allow the pursuit of your own breakthrough to make you insensitive to another person's pain. 🔥 MAY GOD GIVE YOU EYES THAT SEE NEEDS, A HEART THAT FEELS COMPASSION, AND HANDS THAT ARE WILLING TO HELP! 3️⃣ RESPOND TO GOD'S WORD WHILE YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY In the parable, the rich man's circumstances could no longer be changed by the request he made after death. Jesus' message calls us to take God's Word seriously now. We must not postpone repentance, obedience, forgiveness, generosity, or the work God has placed before us. 📖 Galatians 6:10 (KJV): “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Do good while you have the opportunity. God's grace enables us to recognise our shortcomings and respond with faith and obedience. **Having Grace Doesn't Mean You Should Keep Sinning** "I have grace," "Jesus loves me just the way I am" — and using that as a shield to keep going in the exact same sin as always. Having grace doesn't mean you should keep sinning. When Jesus forgave the woman caught in adultery, He didn't stop at grace. He followed it with a command: *"go, and sin no more"* (John 8:11). Forgiveness isn't the finish line — it's the starting point for a different life. If you received forgiveness and keep the same practice, the same way, without any struggle, without any change, you haven't understood grace. You've just found a comfortable excuse to keep sinning. Jesus had harsh words for those who lived on appearances: *"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also"* (Matthew 23:25-26). So many people today are cups washed on the outside — they go to church, they pray, they post Bible verses — but inside they carry envy, lust, lies, pride, with no intention of changing at all. God isn't impressed by your outside alone. He wants the inside clean, and the outside obeying what He commands. *"He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him"* (1 John 2:9-10). It isn't what you say that proves who you are — it's how you live, how you treat others, whether your life reflects what your mouth declares. Jesus helps those who do what He commands: *"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"* (Luke 6:46). You can call Jesus Lord all day long, but if your life doesn't obey what He taught, that relationship is just words. Being a child of God isn't about carrying the title. You will need to learn: 1) Flexibility. When your faith runs into obstacles, your flexibility keeps you in the race. You need the ability to ‘roll with the punches,’ to bend without breaking. Don’t marry your methods! Be willing to make a mid-course correction when it’s needed. Flexibility, however, isn’t ambivalence or wishy-washiness. Flexibility is: a) An attitude of determination to adjust to life’s challenges and stay on course; to trust God for wisdom; to fine-tune your responses to changing circumstances. b) A commitment to take action. A positive mind-set alone won’t get you unstuck. You’ll have to ‘do something!’ Remember, big doors swing on little hinges; taking small steps of faith will move you forward! 2) Firmness: resolve not to quit. You’ll encounter problems that leave you no option but to stand still, like the Israelites between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army. In the tightest of spots, they received this five-fold counsel: a) Don’t give in to fear. Don’t let it decide your response. b) Stand still. Stop your irrational, emotion-driven behaviours. c) Quit talking. Don’t talk yourself into defeat. d) Look for God’s way forward. Expect Him to take action that will get you unstuck. e) Be ready to move forward when He opens the way. These are simple but powerful steps you can take when you don’t know what to do. Such will take delight in things that have no eternal profit except temporary satisfaction. King Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes about 14 years after the Songs of Solomon and about 23 years after the Book of Proverbs. This suggests that he wrote Ecclesiastes after he was able to get restored from his backsliding. While in that state, he lived for pleasure, prosperity and popularity. However, he did not find lasting fulfilment and happiness in them. By the time he discovered the meaning and essence of life, looking back, he called his wasted years as *"vanity of vanities"*. Victor Frankl a holocaust survivor, wrote, "this striving to find a meaning in one's life is the primary motivational force in man. I think the meaning of our existence is not invented by ourselves, but rather detected". King Solomon eventually, detected the meaning of existence and even turned out to be a wise preacher. Discovering the meaning of existence and what matters most in life is the secret of lasting happiness and fulfilment in life. *1. Diligence of the Preacher* a. Everyone who truly discovers the meaning of existence and what matters in life will always turn out to be a counsellor or preacher in one way or the other. King Solomon turned out to be one. His wisdom is always demonstrated and attested to by willingness and diligence in showing others the path of wisdom. *"Because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge"*. Inspiration comes through perspiration. Though he had been divinely imparted with the gift of wisdom and also diligently improved wisdom through personal learning, he knew that these were not substitutes for diligent study needed for inspiration to imparting wisdom and knowledge. *"Yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs"*. Words are one of the strongest means of communication. The writers of the Bible took pains to use the right words as given by the Holy Spirit. *"Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth"* (1 Corinthians 2:13). Preachers, soulwinners and counsellors including writers must be careful and diligent to choose appropriate words that correctly carry their message without ambiguity or offence. *"The preacher sought to find out acceptable words"*. The words must convey the truth and not distort the truth. *"And that which was written was upright, even words of truth"*. *Question* Are you a diligent student of the Bible and counsellor? *2. Direction in Preaching* a. The wise communicator is not a babbler that carelessly plays with words. He is always on purpose and on target with the use of words. The words he uses are like the nails of a carpenter which is always on target with a specified purpose to be achieved. It may be to bring conviction of wrongs, edify or comfort. *"The words of the wise are as ...as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies"*. He has a duty to personally study to make himself approved unto God so that he will be able to rightly divide the word of truth (2Timothy 2:15). Inspiration is boosted by study and perspiration. b. No one knows enough to claim that he can do without studying diligently. Reading is an unending adventure and supposed to be continuous even to old age. Anyone whose discountenance reading will eventually, be obsolete in knowledge and unable to rise to modern challenges in life. King Solomon, while tapping into experience, spoke about the fact that it is natural to have weariness of the flesh if you are given to diligent study. If your study does not task you, then you are not studying enough. If you don't have things to study again you are deteriorating. *"Of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh"*. *Question* Are you still given to diligent study of the Word of God? *3. The Duty of People* The study that does not make you discover more about the awesomeness and power of God so as to fear God more is never the right study. The true study of nature makes someone see the greatness of God. The study of man makes someone see how depraved human nature is and the need for the redemption of man. An understanding of the meaning of life puts all other earthly seeking without God in the right perspectives: *"vanity of vanities"*. Life is designed to be only meaningful when it is not detached from the Creator. All human endeavours that are not deep rooted in the Creator will eventually, be discovered to be meaningless after careful thought. *"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter"*. A lot of words of wisdom have been given by the Preacher Solomon. The conclusion and the prime motivation for them is to *"Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man"*. No man is whole without wholly obeying the commandments of God and wholly putting God as the centre of his whole affairs. When men focus on earthly achievements, they forget the ultimate goal of existence: fear God and do His will. Life is meaningful when lived in the fear of God. It is useless when lived in furtherance of selfish pursuits.* *The stories of great evangelists and pastors of old show us that a life lived for God's glory speaks of no vanity of vanities. In the Bible we have the example of Paul the apostle. At the end, he declared: _"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing"_ (2 Timothy 4:7-8). Such a man as the great Apostle saw no vanity because he realised very quickly that _"a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth."_* *If you are tempted to make mammon your god, think twice because _"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable._ Before worshipping at the altar of Baal, remember that God is the ultimate Judge and the only One we must worship on earth and in eternity. The moment we begin to sideline Him and depend on our own strength, we expose ourselves to the danger of falling. This is why prayerlessness is an enemy of destiny: it gradually disconnects us from the place of communion, direction, and dependence on God, who is the source of our strength. Child of God, remember that Christianity and life itself involve spiritual battles. The Bible reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. God has equipped us with spiritual weapons to stand against the enemy's schemes, and prayer is one of the vital weapons He has given us. Prayer is not merely a response to trouble; it is a lifestyle of dependence on God. It is through consistent prayer that we commit our lives, plans, families, and destinies into His hands. Just as a ship requires constant attention to remain on course amid turbulent waters, your destiny requires continual dependence on God through prayer. We must not treat prayer as a one-time activity but as a consistent practice. However, prayer is more than a weapon for spiritual warfare; it is a means of communion and fellowship with God. In His presence, we grow in our knowledge of Him, receive wisdom, gain spiritual understanding, and become more sensitive to His leading. As we seek Him, He directs our steps and gives us wisdom concerning the journey ahead. You cannot afford to neglect the place of prayer and still expect to walk consistently in the direction God has ordained for your life. A prayerful person continually draws strength from God, while a prayerless life leaves one vulnerable to spiritual weakness and poor decisions. This does not mean that prayer guarantees a trouble-free journey, but it positions us to face life's challenges with faith, wisdom, and dependence on God. Remember the warning in Matthew 13:25: “But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.” Although this parable speaks about an enemy sowing weeds among the wheat, it also reminds us of the importance of vigilance. Child of God, do not become spiritually careless and give the enemy an opportunity to exploit your weaknesses. Remain watchful, steadfast in faith, and committed to prayer. That is why the Apostle Paul commands us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing.” Prayer is not something we practise only when we face a crisis; it is a daily lifestyle of fellowship with our Heavenly Father. Child of God, do not allow prayerlessness to become a loophole in your destiny. Whatever God has entrusted to you, nurture it in prayer. Whatever He has called you to do, seek His direction. Whatever battles you face, stand firm in faith and remain connected to Him. Remember: a destiny sustained by continual dependence on God is better positioned to withstand the storms of life. Proverbs 23:18 (AMP) Without an expectation, it is difficult to witness the manifestation of the power and the goodness of God. It is expectation that brings about manifestation. What a man does not expect, he cannot experience. It is your expectation that gives fire to your desire. Having a desire is not enough; you must give it life by being excited about it and by eagerly looking forward to its fulfillment. What you don't desire, you don't deserve; it will be a waste if such thing is allowed to be given to you. Stop waiting to see what will happen next; start living ready as if it has started happening by being excitedly expectant. If you can believe, the same Jesus who is doing it for others will do it for you also. This is your day. Wisdom Fountain: “Always remember that tomorrow is a new day with new opportunities. Live with an eager expectation of good things.” Prayer: Heavenly Father, as I set my heart to step into a space of joyful anticipation, I pray You fill me with a fresh, bubbly excitement for what You are doing next. Help me to look at my life not through the lens of what is missing, but through the lens of unlimited possibility. Renew my perspective so that I can see the hidden opportunities, the sudden breakthroughs, and the unexpected blessings You are already lining up for me in Jesus’ name.

I pray for you today that the Lord will save your soul from damnation. He will fill you with his spirit for you to prevail and be able to function effectively in this world. The fear of your enemies victory, fear of the murderous rage of men and fear of being unable to confess Christ before men will not hinder you from the kingdom of God.
