Isaiah 17:1 — 'Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a ruinous heap.' Written 2,700 years ago. Damascus, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, has never been completely destroyed... until now. As Syria's civil war enters its fourteenth year and regional powers circle, are we watching an ancient prophecy move toward its final fulfillment?

    ---

    1. MIRACLES WITHOUT PURITY IS NOTHING TO CHRIST —

Word says — 1 Cor 13:1-3 Though I speak with tongues of men and angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass. And though I have gift of prophecy, understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all goods to feed poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing

Many will come — Matt 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into kingdom, but he that doeth will of Father. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name have cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

Why He says I never knew? — Because working iniquity — Matt 7:23 ye that work iniquity — Miracle power is gift, not proof of purity — Rom 11:29 Gifts and calling without repentance — God can use donkey Num 22:28 — Judas did miracles Matt 10:1-4 but perished — John 17:12 son of perdition —

  • *WHY YOU FEEL DISCOURAGED AND DISAPPOINTED*

Let me show you why you feel discouraged and disappointed.

You feel discouraged because you began your spiritual journey with a certain expectation. You believed that as you grew spiritually, you would eventually experience the material blessings you had seen in the Bible.

So you prayed. You studied the Word. You committed yourself to the things of God. You served. You remained consistent.

You did all these things because you believed that your spiritual growth would eventually produce the results you desired.

    Then months passed.

    Sometimes years passed.

But the material results you expected did not come.

    And now you are disappointed.

    *You begin to ask questions.*

“ _Why am I not seeing what I expected to see?”_

“ _Why have I prayed for so long yet nothing?”_

“ _Why have I studied the Word consistently yet no results?”_

“ _Why have I remained committed to the things of God yet nothing?”_

“ _Why am I still waiting for the results that inspired me to begin this spiritual journey?”_

Now you need every sermon to answer your *“why” questions.*

You need every message to encourage you.

You need every prophecy to tell you to keep going, not to give up, and that what God has in store for you is too great.

    So you keep going.

But deep within you, you are gradually giving up.

    Why?

Because the reason you began growing spiritually was wrong.

*My dear, spiritual growth was never designed to be a means of obtaining material blessings from God.*

You do not grow spiritually so that God will eventually give you what you want.

You do not pray, study the Word and serve God so that your spiritual consistency will produce material rewards.

You do not grow in the knowledge of Christ because you are trying to get something from God.

*You grow spiritually because Christ lives in you.*

Spiritual growth is about knowing Christ and allowing the life of Christ that is already in you to be expressed through you.

As Christ is revealed in you, men should see Christ in your speech.

They should see Christ in your character.

They should see Christ in your love.

They should see Christ in your conduct.

They should see Christ in your ministry.

They should see Christ in your preaching.

They should see Christ in the working of the Spirit through you.

*This is the purpose of spiritual growth: that the life of Christ in you may be seen through you.*

Therefore, your spiritual growth must not be built around what you expect to receive.

It must be built around Christ.

If you make material results the evidence that your spiritual life is working, the absence of those results will eventually make you discouraged.

You will begin to question your prayers.

    You will question your consistency.

    You will question God's promises.

You will need constant encouragement to keep going.

But when Christ is the reason for your spiritual growth, your relationship with God is no longer a transaction.

You are not praying because you are trying to get God to bless you.

You are not studying the Word because you are trying to earn a better life.

You are not serving because you are trying to qualify for God's goodness.

*Christ is the reason. Christ is the life. Christ is the focus.*

You grow in the knowledge of Christ so that what is already in you can be manifested through you.

You grow so that Christ can be seen in your words.

You grow so that Christ can be seen in your character.

You grow so that Christ can be seen in your relationships.

You grow so that Christ can be seen in your ministry.

You grow so that Christ can be seen in your preaching.

You grow so that the life of Christ in you can become evident to the people around you.

So, if you have been discouraged because you have been spiritually consistent but have not seen the material results you expected, stop and examine the foundation of your spiritual journey.

*Were you pursuing Christ, or were you pursuing what you believed spiritual growth would give you?*

    There is a difference.

When Christ is your reason, you do not need a new promise every week to keep you going.

You do not need every sermon to convince you not to give up.

You do not need every prophecy to assure you that something bigger is coming.

*Christ Himself is enough reason to know Him, to grow in Him and to reveal Him.*

That is why you grow spiritually.

Not merely to receive something from God,

*but that Christ may be seen in you.*

Christ is the focus.* You grow in the knowledge of Christ so that what is already in you can be manifested through you. *Were you pursuing Christ, or were you pursuing what you believed spiritual growth would give you?* There is a difference. When Christ is your reason, you do not need a new promise every week to keep you going. You do not need every sermon to convince you not to give up. You do not need every prophecy to assure you that something bigger is coming. *Christ Himself is enough reason to know Him, to grow in Him and to reveal Him.* That is why you grow spiritually. Not merely to receive something from God, *but that Christ may be seen in you.* ~Richmond

"Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure". Psalm 2:1-5

    2 Chronicles 29

Hezekiah: Restoring Worship and Returning to God

Second Chronicles 29 introduces Hezekiah and one of the most significant spiritual renewals in Judah’s history. The contrast with his father Ahaz could hardly be greater. Ahaz had promoted idolatry, removed sacred articles from the temple, and eventually closed its doors. Hezekiah begins his reign by reversing that direction and making the worship of God a priority.

During the first year of his reign, Hezekiah reopens and repairs the temple. He gathers the priests and Levites and calls them to consecrate themselves and cleanse the house of the Lord. He understands that Judah’s recent troubles were not simply political or military problems; the nation had turned away from God. Therefore, restoration must begin spiritually.

The priests and Levites respond by removing everything associated with the previous generation’s unfaithfulness. The temple is cleansed, its furnishings are restored, and the articles Ahaz had discarded are prepared again for worship. The process takes time and careful work, showing that spiritual renewal often involves intentionally repairing what years of compromise have damaged.

Once the temple has been restored, Hezekiah gathers the leaders of Jerusalem and reestablishes sacrifices and worship. Sin offerings are made not only for the king but for Judah and the wider nation, emphasizing the need for corporate repentance. Musicians and Levites also return to their responsibilities according to the pattern established through David, and worship once again fills the temple.
The people respond with sacrifices, thanksgiving, and willing offerings. So many offerings are brought that the priests need assistance from the Levites to complete the work. The chapter closes by emphasizing the joy surrounding the restoration and how quickly God enabled the work to move forward.

Hezekiah’s reform demonstrates that genuine revival is more than emotional enthusiasm. He recognizes what has gone wrong, removes what has defiled worship, restores what has been neglected, and leads the people back toward the Lord according to His Word.

    Theological Emphasis

Second Chronicles 29 emphasizes that spiritual renewal begins by returning God to His rightful place. Hezekiah does not begin by strengthening Judah’s economy, military, or international relationships. He begins with the temple because the nation’s deepest problem is spiritual.

The chapter also shows that restoration requires both cleansing and renewed worship. What had been corrupted must be removed, but something better must take its place. The goal is not simply to eliminate idolatry but to restore fellowship with God.

    Christ-Centered Truth

The sacrifices offered during Hezekiah’s restoration point toward Jesus Christ. Judah needed repeated offerings because sin continually disrupted fellowship with God, but those sacrifices could never permanently cleanse the human heart.
Jesus provides the final and sufficient sacrifice. Through His death on the cross, sin is fully atoned for, and through His resurrection, believers receive new life. Christ also cleanses His people so that worship is no longer centered upon one earthly temple but flows from hearts indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

Hezekiah reopened the doors of the temple, but Jesus accomplished something infinitely greater: through His finished work, He opened the way for sinners to come directly into the presence of the Father.

    Believer Application

For believers today, 2 Chronicles 29 reminds us that spiritual renewal often begins by addressing what has been neglected. There may be areas of prayer, Scripture, worship, obedience, relationships, or personal holiness that have gradually fallen into disrepair. God’s grace invites us not merely to regret that condition but to begin restoring what has been lost.

Hezekiah also demonstrates the influence of decisive spiritual leadership. One generation had closed the temple; the next opened it. We are not required to repeat the spiritual failures we inherit. In Christ, unhealthy patterns can be confronted, neglected areas can be restored, and a new direction can begin.

    2 Chronicles 30

Returning Together to the God of Grace

Second Chronicles 30 continues Hezekiah’s reforms by restoring the celebration of Passover. The temple has been cleansed and worship has resumed, but Hezekiah now wants the people to remember the redemption that stands at the heart of their covenant identity. Passover looked back to God delivering Israel from slavery in Egypt, reminding every generation that they existed as God’s people because He had redeemed them.

Hezekiah’s invitation extends beyond Judah. Messengers travel throughout the territories of the northern tribes, calling those who remain after the Assyrian devastation to come to Jerusalem, return to the Lord, and celebrate Passover together. This is significant because the kingdom has been divided for generations. Hezekiah is not merely inviting his own political subjects; he is calling fellow Israelites back to the God of their fathers.

The response is mixed. Some ridicule the messengers, showing how deeply spiritual resistance has developed. Others humble themselves and travel to Jerusalem. Judah also experiences unusual unity as God gives the people a willingness to follow the king’s direction.

Because the reforms have happened quickly, the Passover cannot be observed at the normal time. The priests are not sufficiently prepared and the people have not yet gathered, so the celebration is held during the second month according to a provision already contained within the Law. The situation is not ideal, but the desire is genuine and the people are moving toward obedience.

Many who attend are also not ceremonially prepared according to the usual requirements. Hezekiah intercedes for them, asking God to pardon those whose hearts are genuinely directed toward seeking Him even though their preparation is incomplete. The Lord hears Hezekiah and brings healing to the people.

This becomes an important picture of grace. God’s standards are not being dismissed, but the chapter shows that He looks upon people who are sincerely turning toward Him and responds mercifully to their weakness.

The celebration continues with tremendous joy. The Levites and priests lead worship, sacrifices are offered, and the people become so encouraged that they extend the feast for another seven days. Jerusalem experiences a level of unified rejoicing not seen for generations.

The chapter ends with the priests blessing the people and their prayers reaching heaven. A nation that had recently experienced idolatry, division, and judgment is now gathering around sacrifice, worship, repentance, and the goodness of God.

    Theological Emphasis

Second Chronicles 30 emphasizes God’s desire to restore people who genuinely return to Him. Hezekiah’s invitation is broad, reaching even toward those from the fractured northern kingdom. The message is not that their past rebellion does not matter, but that their past does not prevent them from returning.

The chapter also balances obedience and grace. God’s commands matter, yet the Lord is not looking for technical perfection while ignoring the heart. Hezekiah’s prayer acknowledges that some people are imperfectly prepared, but they have sincerely set their hearts toward seeking God.

    Christ-Centered Truth

Passover is one of the clearest Old Testament pictures pointing toward Jesus Christ. Israel remembered how the blood of the Passover lamb marked them for deliverance from judgment and freedom from slavery. Those events anticipated the greater redemption Christ would accomplish.

Jesus is our Passover Lamb. Through His blood, believers are delivered from the judgment of sin and brought out of spiritual bondage into new life. The invitation Hezekiah sent throughout Israel also anticipates the wider invitation of the gospel, which calls people from every nation and background to return to God through Christ.

The unity experienced around Passover also points toward the unity Jesus creates. Political division had separated Israel and Judah, but worship temporarily brought people from different tribes together. Through Christ, God is forming one redeemed people whose unity rests not upon nationality or background but upon the Savior who redeemed them.

    Believer Application

For believers today, 2 Chronicles 30 reminds us that God welcomes those who sincerely return to Him. Shame over past failure should never become an excuse to remain distant. The gospel invites us to come through Christ, receive forgiveness, and renew our fellowship with God.

The chapter also challenges us to extend that invitation to others rather than deciding who is too far gone. Some people mocked Hezekiah’s messengers, but others humbled themselves and came. Our responsibility is to faithfully proclaim the invitation and allow God to work in individual hearts.

Most importantly, our Christian life should remain centered upon remembering our redemption. Israel gathered around Passover; believers gather around the finished work of Jesus Christ. We worship not because we have prepared ourselves perfectly but because the Lamb has been sacrificed, grace has been offered, and through Christ we have been brought home to God.

2 Timothy 4 — Finish the Race and Keep the Faith

2 Timothy chapter 4 brings Paul's final recorded letter to a powerful conclusion. Knowing that his earthly ministry is nearing its end, Paul gives Timothy a final charge: faithfully proclaim God's Word, endure hardship, remain focused on the ministry God has entrusted to him, and finish well. Paul then looks back over his own life with confidence—not because the road had been easy, but because the Christ, the Son of God, had remained faithful through every season. The chapter is a call to faithful ministry, perseverance, and finishing the Christian life with our eyes fixed upon the Christ.

Paul begins with a solemn charge given in the presence of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. He points Timothy toward the future appearing and kingdom of the Christ, reminding him that ministry is ultimately carried out before the Son of God rather than before human audiences.

Timothy's central responsibility is straightforward: preach the Word. He is to remain ready whether the message is welcomed or resisted, faithfully using Scripture to correct, warn, encourage, and teach with patience. Christian ministry must remain anchored in God's Word because human opinion cannot accomplish the transforming work of divine truth.

Paul warns that a time will come when people will no longer tolerate sound doctrine. Rather than submitting themselves to God's truth, they will seek teachers who tell them what they already want to hear. Truth will be replaced by messages that satisfy personal desires.

This is one of the great dangers facing the Church in every generation. The temptation is to reshape the message of the Christ so that it becomes more acceptable to the culture. But God's redemptive plan does not change according to popular opinion. Humanity's need remains the same, sin remains serious, the cross remains necessary, and salvation remains found in the Son of God.

Timothy therefore must remain spiritually alert. While others turn from truth, he is called to stay steady, endure hardship, proclaim the gospel, and completely fulfill the ministry entrusted to him. His responsibility is not to control how everyone responds. His responsibility is to remain faithful.

Paul then turns toward his own approaching death. He understands that his departure is near, but his words are not filled with despair. Instead, he summarizes his life with three powerful pictures: he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Paul's confidence does not mean he lived a perfect life. His story began as a persecutor of the Church. Everything changed when he encountered the risen Christ. From that point forward, his life became a testimony of God's grace and the transforming power of the gospel.

Now, at the end of his ministry, Paul's greatest accomplishment is simply that he remained faithful to the Son of God.

He had suffered persecution, rejection, imprisonment, opposition, physical hardship, and abandonment. Yet he had continued proclaiming the Christ. The race had been difficult, but he had not abandoned it.

Paul now looks forward to the crown of righteousness that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award. Importantly, this hope is not limited to Paul. It belongs to all who eagerly love and await the appearing of the Christ.

Biblical prophecy therefore gives the believer an eternal perspective. The return of the Son of God reminds us that this present life is not the finish line. There is a coming kingdom, a righteous Judge, and an eternal reward for those who belong to Him.

The chapter then becomes deeply personal as Paul mentions several individuals who had affected his ministry. Some remained faithful, while others deserted him. One man's love for the present world caused him to abandon Paul during a difficult season.

These personal details remind us that ministry involves real relationships, and those relationships can bring both encouragement and disappointment. Christian living requires learning to remain faithful even when other people fail us.

Paul describes one particularly painful moment when no one stood with him during his defense. Yet he does not end the story with human abandonment. He immediately points to the faithfulness of the Christ.

The Lord stood with him and strengthened him.

That statement captures much of Paul's life and ministry.

People may leave, but the Christ remains.

Circumstances may become difficult, but the Christ remains.

Ministry may become lonely, but the Christ remains.

Paul understood that the Son of God had preserved him so that the gospel could continue to be proclaimed. His confidence remained that the Lord would ultimately bring him safely into His heavenly kingdom.

This is the heart of God's redemptive plan. The Christ does not merely save believers at the beginning of their faith; He faithfully carries them toward the completion of their salvation and His eternal kingdom.

The central truths of 2 Timothy 4 are clear:

Preach and remain anchored in God's Word.

Do not change biblical truth simply because people reject it.

Endure hardship and faithfully fulfill your calling.

Live with the return and kingdom of the Christ in view.

Finish the race and keep the faith.

For believers today, this chapter asks an important question: Will we remain faithful to the Christ all the way to the finish?

Christian living is not simply about beginning with enthusiasm. It is about continuing when obedience becomes difficult, when culture rejects biblical truth, when ministry becomes tiring, and even when people disappoint us.
Paul's life demonstrates that finishing well is possible because our confidence is not ultimately in ourselves. The same Son of God who called us is able to strengthen us throughout the race.

One day every believer's earthly race will end, and the Christ will appear in glory. Until then, our calling is clear:

Preach the Word. Proclaim the gospel. Endure hardship. Fulfill your ministry. Fight the good fight. Finish the race. Keep the faith.

And when others fail, remember Paul's testimony:

The Lord stood with me and strengthened me.

The Christ was faithful to Paul until the finish, and the Son of God remains faithful to His people today.

  • TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS:

    SERMON TOPIC:

WORLDLY CHILDREN ARE WISER THAN CHILDREN OF LIGHT.

Learning Strategic Wisdom from the Parable of the Unjust Steward.

    Main Text:

    Luke 16:8

    > “For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.”

    A Shocking Statement from Jesus.

Jesus made a statement that should make every believer stop and think:
“The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” — Luke 16:8
Wait a minute—how can people who do not know God sometimes appear more strategic, disciplined, organized, determined, and intentional than those who claim to know God?
The answer is not that worldly people have greater wisdom than God’s people.
Jesus was not praising their wickedness.
    He was exposing their intentionality.
Some people use every available opportunity to advance their earthly interests, while some believers have divine opportunities but fail to use them for God's kingdom.
Some worldly people wake up early to pursue money.
Some study for years to build careers.
Some sacrifice comfort to build businesses.
Some consistently promote their products and ideas.
But some Christians cannot consistently pray, study Scripture, evangelize, serve, or develop the gifts God has given them.
The problem is not always lack of opportunity. Sometimes it is lack of wisdom, discipline and intentionality.
God is calling the children of light to become spiritually intelligent, purposeful and productive.
    1. THE CHILDREN OF THIS WORLD UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF OPPORTUNITY.
    Luke 16:8
    > “For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.”
The dishonest steward in Jesus' parable realized that his current position was coming to an end.
    He asked himself:
    “What will I do?”
    He began thinking ahead.
Jesus was not commending his dishonesty. He was highlighting his foresight and urgency.
He understood that an opportunity was available now, and he needed to act.

    Spiritual Lesson.

Many believers pray for opportunities but do not prepare for them.
    They say:
    > “God, use me.”
    But God may be asking:
    > “What are you doing with what I have already placed in your hands?”
    You have a phone.
    You have time.
    You have relationships.
    You have skills.
    You have a voice.
    You have knowledge.
    You have access to people.
What are you doing with them for God's glory?
    2. WORLDLY PEOPLE CAN BE VERY INTENTIONAL—CHRISTIANS MUST NOT BE CARELESS.
    Look at the world.
    People set goals.
    They make plans.
    They attend training.
    They build networks.
    They invest money.
    They study trends.
    They develop skills.
    They advertise themselves.
    They learn from failure.
    But sometimes Christians say:
    > “If God wants it to happen, it will happen.”
That statement can become an excuse for laziness.
    Proverbs 21:5
    > “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.”
    Faith does not cancel diligence.
    Prayer does not cancel preparation.
    Anointing does not cancel discipline.
God can give you the vision, but you must be willing to develop the discipline to pursue it.
Nehemiah did not merely pray about Jerusalem.
    He prayed and planned.
He prayed and inspected the walls.
    He prayed and organized people.
    He prayed and worked.
    Nehemiah 4:9
    > “Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night.”
    Notice the combination:
    Prayer + Preparation.
    3. CHILDREN OF LIGHT MUST LEARN TO THINK AHEAD.
One difference between wisdom and foolishness is the ability to consider consequences.
    Proverbs 22:3
    > “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”
    Wisdom asks:
“Where will this decision take me?”
Before you enter that relationship, think.
Before you spend that money, think.
Before you post that content, think.
Before you accept that opportunity, think.
Before you respond in anger, think.
Before you make that promise, think.
Before you choose your friends, think.
Spiritual maturity includes the ability to see beyond today.
    Joseph understood this principle.
When Pharaoh had a dream about seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine, Joseph did not simply interpret the dream.
    He proposed a strategy.
    Genesis 41:33
    > “Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.”
    Joseph understood something important:
Prophecy without preparation can become a wasted opportunity.
God revealed the future, and Joseph prepared for it.
    4. THE WISDOM OF THE WORLD MUST NEVER REPLACE THE WISDOM OF GOD.
    Now we must be careful.
    Jesus did not say:
    > “Become worldly.”
He said the children of light should learn from the intentionality of the children of this world without adopting their darkness.
There is a difference between worldly wisdom and strategic wisdom.
    The world may teach:
    > “Do anything to succeed.”
    God teaches:
    > “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” — Matthew 6:33
    The world may say:
    > “Step on others to get ahead.”
    Christ says:
    > “Love your enemies.” — Matthew 5:44
The world may pursue success without righteousness.
    But God's people must pursue:
    Success with integrity.
    Influence with character.
    Wealth with stewardship.
    Leadership with humility.
    Knowledge with wisdom.
    Opportunity with purpose.
    5. CHILDREN OF LIGHT MUST USE EARTHLY RESOURCES FOR ETERNAL PURPOSES.

This is one of the deepest lessons in Luke 16.
Jesus was teaching His followers to use temporary resources wisely.
    Luke 16:9
    > “And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.”
    Money is temporary.
    Possessions are temporary.
    Positions are temporary.
    Popularity is temporary.
Even our time on earth is temporary.
But what we do for God's kingdom has eternal significance.
    So ask yourself:
What am I doing with my money?
What am I doing with my influence?
What am I doing with my education?
What am I doing with my technology?
What am I doing with my platform?
What am I doing with my time?
Your resources are not merely for your comfort.
They are also instruments for God's purpose.

BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: THE FIVE TALENTS.

Jesus gave another powerful illustration in Matthew 25.
    One servant received five talents.
    Another received two.
    Another received one.
The first two servants went to work.
    They multiplied what they received.
But the servant with one talent buried it.
    Matthew 25:25
    > “And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth.”
The tragedy was not that he received only one.
The tragedy was that he did nothing with it.
God does not require you to have someone else's gift.
    He asks:
“What did you do with what I gave you?”
    Perhaps you have one talent.
    Use it.
    One opportunity.
    Use it.
    One platform.
    Use it.
    One skill.
    Develop it.
    One testimony.
    Share it.
    One voice.
    Speak.
    One life.
    Give it to God.

    DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS.

    1. Being a child of light does not automatically make you wise.
Salvation gives you a new life, but spiritual maturity requires learning, discipline and obedience.
    2. Divine opportunities require human responsibility.
God opens doors, but you must walk through them.
    3. Prayer and planning are not enemies.
A praying Christian should also be a prepared Christian.
    4. Excellence can be spiritual.
When you develop your skills and do your work well, you can glorify God.
    5. Do not imitate darkness; learn from diligence.
We can learn strategic thinking from unbelievers without copying their ungodly values.
    6. Your generation needs wise Christians.
The church should not be the least organized institution.
Christians should demonstrate wisdom in business, education, technology, leadership, family, ministry and relationships.

    PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS.

    Starting today:

    1. Identify one God-given opportunity.
What opportunity is currently in your hands?
    2. Develop one neglected gift.
    Stop burying your talent.
    3. Create a simple plan.
Write down what you want to accomplish and the steps required.
    4. Improve your knowledge.
Read. Study. Ask questions. Learn from people who are ahead of you.
    5. Become disciplined with your time.
Do not spend your best hours only on entertainment and social media.
    6. Use technology for God's glory.
Your phone can be a distraction—or a ministry tool.
    7. Combine prayer with action.
Pray like everything depends on God, and work faithfully with the opportunities He gives you.

    QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION.

    1. Am I more intentional about earthly things than spiritual things?
    2. What opportunity has God placed before me?
    3. What talent have I buried because of fear?
    4. Do I pray without taking practical action?
    5. How am I using my time?
    6. How am I using my money?
    7. How am I using my influence?
    8. If Jesus examines my stewardship today, what will He find?
    9. Am I pursuing success at the expense of righteousness?
    10. What can I begin doing differently today?

    POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS.

    1. Prayer for Wisdom
Father, give me wisdom to recognize opportunities and use them according to Your purpose, in Jesus' name.
    2. Prayer Against Laziness
Lord, deliver me from spiritual laziness, procrastination and careless living. Give me the grace to be diligent.
    3. Prayer for Productivity
Father, help me to multiply every gift, talent and opportunity You have placed in my hands.
    4. Prayer for Discernment
Lord, help me to learn what is useful from the world without becoming conformed to the world.
    5. Prayer for Purpose
Father, let my education, career, business, relationships, finances and influence serve Your kingdom.
    6. Prayer for Discipline
Holy Spirit, teach me to manage my time, resources and responsibilities faithfully.
    7. Prayer for Eternal Impact
Lord, when my earthly journey is over, let my life testify that I used what You gave me for Your glory.

STRONG CLOSING: WAKE UP, CHILD OF LIGHT!

Jesus' statement in Luke 16:8 is not an invitation to become worldly.
It is a wake-up call to the Church.
The children of darkness should not consistently demonstrate greater determination than the children of light.
People should not be more committed to building earthly kingdoms than Christians are to advancing the Kingdom of God.
People should not study harder for temporary success while believers neglect the Word that leads to eternal life.
People should not use every platform to promote themselves while Christians remain silent about Jesus.
You are a child of light.
    Therefore, walk in wisdom.
    Work with diligence.
    Plan with purpose.
    Pray with faith.
    Serve with humility.
    Develop your gifts.
    Use your resources.
    Redeem your time.
And let your life become a testimony of what happens when divine wisdom meets disciplined action.
    Remember:
Do not copy the world's darkness.
    Copy their intentionality.
Then submit that intentionality to God's wisdom.
    > “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” — Ephesians 5:15–16
    Child of light, wake up!
    Your generation needs you.
    Your gifts matter.
    Your time matters.
    Your influence matters.
    Your assignment matters.
Do not bury what God has placed in you.
    Rise.
    Prepare.
    Work.
    Pray.
    Build.
    Serve.
    And let your light shine.
    > “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS: SERMON TOPIC: WORLDLY CHILDREN ARE WISER THAN CHILDREN OF LIGHT. Learning Strategic Wisdom from the Parable of the Unjust Steward. Main Text: Luke 16:8 > “For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” A Shocking Statement from Jesus. Jesus made a statement that should make every believer stop and think: “The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” — Luke 16:8 Wait a minute—how can people who do not know God sometimes appear more strategic, disciplined, organized, determined, and intentional than those who claim to know God? Luke 16:8 > “For the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.” The dishonest steward in Jesus' parable realized that his current position was coming to an end. He asked himself: “What will I do?” He began thinking ahead. Jesus was not commending his dishonesty. He was highlighting his foresight and urgency. He understood that an opportunity was available now, and he needed to act. Spiritual Lesson. Many believers pray for opportunities but do not prepare for them. They say: > “God, use me.” But God may be asking: > “What are you doing with what I have already placed in your hands?” You have a phone. You have time. You have relationships. You have skills. You have a voice. You have knowledge. You have access to people. What are you doing with them for God's glory? 2. WORLDLY PEOPLE CAN BE VERY INTENTIONAL—CHRISTIANS MUST NOT BE CARELESS. Look at the world. People set goals. They make plans. They attend training. They build networks. They invest money. They study trends. They develop skills. They advertise themselves. They learn from failure. But sometimes Christians say: > “If God wants it to happen, it will happen.” That statement can become an excuse for laziness. Proverbs 21:5 > “The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.” Faith does not cancel diligence. Nehemiah 4:9 > “Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night.” Notice the combination: Prayer + Preparation. 3. CHILDREN OF LIGHT MUST LEARN TO THINK AHEAD. One difference between wisdom and foolishness is the ability to consider consequences. Proverbs 22:3 > “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” Wisdom asks: “Where will this decision take me?” Before you enter that relationship, think. Genesis 41:33 > “Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.” Joseph understood something important: Prophecy without preparation can become a wasted opportunity. • THE PROPHECY ABOUT NIGERIA.

In 1986, Pastor S. G. Elton gave a prophecy concerning Africa and Nigeria. His words pointed to a coming spiritual revival in which Nigeria would play a significant role in the purposes of God.

    And this was the prophecy.
" In the coming revival, Africa is like a hand gun turned downward; Nigeria is the trigger. Nigeria and Nigerians will be known for corruption worldwide, but the tide will turn, and Nigeria will also be known for righteousness worldwide. Many shall take hold of him that is a Nigerian, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you"

However, the prophecy also carries a serious responsibility. Nigeria has often been associated with corruption, scandal, injustice and other forms of moral failure. If Nigeria is to become known worldwide for righteousness, the transformation must begin with individuals. We must fight against the corruption that seeks to steal, kill and destroy what God wants to accomplish through us.

Nigeria must move from being known for corruption to being known for righteousness. The Church must rise with integrity. Christian leaders must pursue holiness. Believers must refuse compromise. Young people must embrace righteousness and reject the culture of corruption.

There is a revival to be triggered. But revival begins with a people who are willing to allow God to search their hearts and transform their lives.

    As Scripture says:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."
    Psalm 139:23–24

"It is time to sow righteousness so that we may reap mercy. It is time to break up our fallow ground. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and rains righteousness upon us." Hosea 10:12

May Nigeria become what God has destined her to be.

  • Christianity • Bible • Prophecy Daily Briefing

    Wednesday, October 7, 2026

I checked fresh reporting for today and kept this to exactly 5 stories, prioritizing Gospel activity, prayer, Christian witness, religious freedom, and Bible-era archaeology. Where prophecy comes into the picture, I’m separating what is documented from what Christians may interpret.

    ⸻

    1. More Than 800 People Reportedly Responded to the Gospel at Manchester Outreach

    What happened

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s God Loves You Tour brought Franklin Graham to Manchester’s Co-op Live on October 3. Organizers reported more than 10,000 attendees and more than 800 people making decisions to follow Jesus Christ. Nearly 600 churches had helped mobilize people beforehand, making this a coordinated local-church evangelistic effort rather than simply a standalone event.

One particularly encouraging testimony involved Huw Evans, whose wife had prayed for his salvation for years before he responded to the Gospel at the Manchester event.

    Why it matters

The encouraging part isn’t simply the attendance figure. The event involved churches inviting people, Gospel proclamation, a response to Christ, and follow-up through local churches.

That last part matters. Biblically, evangelism is not supposed to end with a moment of emotion; Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them to obey Him.

“Go and make disciples of all the nations.” — Matthew 28:19

    Verified vs. interpretation

Verified: The event occurred October 3, churches participated, and BGEA reported more than 800 decisions for Christ.

Interpretation: It is reasonable to celebrate this as substantial evangelistic fruit. It would be premature, however, to declare one event proof of a national revival. Lasting repentance, discipleship, transformed lives, and perseverance are better tests of spiritual fruit.

    ⸻

    2. Christians Around the World Unite Today for 24 Hours of Prayer for Israel and Jerusalem

    What is happening

Today, October 7, Christians from multiple nations are participating in a 24-hour Global Prayer Event for Israel, broadcast from Jerusalem and moving across time zones. Organizers say the event is focused on prayer for Jerusalem, Israel, families affected by the conflict, hostages and their families, unity among believers, and peace among nations.

The event is scheduled to continue across every timezone rather than being a single local gathering.

    Why it matters

Whatever someone’s political views about Israel or the Middle East, Christians have a direct biblical basis for praying for Jerusalem:

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” — Psalm 122:6

This is also a constructive example of Christians responding to a deeply painful anniversary with prayer rather than merely argument.

A separate German Christian prayer initiative is also holding a national night of prayer today for Jewish life and against antisemitism.

    Prophecy watch

Verified: The global prayer event is taking place today and is being broadcast from Jerusalem.

Biblical fact: Scripture explicitly calls God’s people to pray for Jerusalem.

Interpretation: Some Christians may view the extraordinary international focus on Jerusalem as prophetically significant.

Not established: The prayer event itself does not prove fulfillment of a specific prophecy. Psalm 122:6 is a command to pray, not a prediction that a future global prayer gathering would signal the end times.

    3. Nigerian King Uses First Israel Visit to Highlight Jewish-Christian Relationships

    What happened

Ogiame Atuwatse III, the 21st Olu of the Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, made his first visit to Israel during a larger Christian delegation that brought about 550 Christian leaders from 51 nations to Israel.

The delegation was organized by Eagles’ Wings and included participation in the Awake Jerusalem Christian worship gathering. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, the Nigerian king emphasized reconciliation, healing, and a peace rooted in relationship with the Creator.

    Why it matters

This is noteworthy because it combines African Christian leadership, Jewish-Christian relationship building, prayer, and international fellowship.

It also reflects the increasingly global character of Christianity. Christian engagement with Israel is no longer primarily a Western phenomenon; African, Asian, Latin American, and other Christian leaders are increasingly visible participants.

    Verified vs. interpretation

Verified: The delegation included approximately 550 Christian leaders from 51 nations, and the Nigerian king visited Israel and spoke publicly about peace and healing.

Interpretation: Christians can reasonably see cross-national Christian fellowship and Jewish-Christian reconciliation as encouraging.

Not established: The gathering is not proof of a particular prophetic fulfillment.

    ⸻

    4. Major Byzantine-Era Gold Hoard Unearthed at Hippos Near the Sea of Galilee

    What happened

Archaeologists excavating Hippos-Sussita, an ancient city overlooking the Sea of Galilee, uncovered a remarkable hoard containing nearly 100 Byzantine gold coins and numerous pieces of jewelry.

The hoard appears to have been deliberately hidden around the time of the Sassanid Persian invasion of 614 AD. The coins range from the reign of Justin I in the sixth century to Emperor Heraclius in the early seventh century.

Hippos was also an important Christian center during the Byzantine period, with archaeological evidence for at least seven churches. One church, the Martyrion of Theodorus, bears evidence of destruction during the Sassanid assault.

    Why it matters

This discovery doesn’t directly prove a biblical passage, but it dramatically enriches our understanding of the Christian world surrounding the New Testament and its aftermath.

The Sea of Galilee region was central to Jesus’ ministry, and archaeology continues to reveal the changing communities that lived there across the centuries.

It is also a reminder that archaeology works best when it reconstructs history patiently rather than trying to force every discovery into a sensational biblical claim.

    Verified vs. interpretation

Verified: The excavation uncovered the gold coins and jewelry; the site was an important Byzantine Christian center; and the hoard is associated with the period of the Sassanid invasion.

Interpretation: The discovery provides valuable historical context for the Christian presence in the Galilee.

Not established: It does not demonstrate fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

    5. Holy See Raises Christian Persecution at the United Nations

    What happened

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, addressed the United Nations General Assembly in late September and highlighted continuing discrimination, violence, and persecution against Christians in parts of the world.

A report published today by Aid to the Church in Need says Parolin specifically referenced attacks on churches, displacement of Christian communities, and Christians being killed or imprisoned because of their faith. He also stressed that defending the religious freedom of Christians should not be understood as advocating exclusively for Christians, but as part of defending religious freedom for everyone.

    Why it matters

This is important because religious freedom is not merely a Christian political issue. The biblical principle is broader: human beings possess dignity before God, and Christians are called to defend truth while loving their neighbors—including people of other faiths.

It also puts suffering Christians back into the international conversation at a time when many persecuted communities receive little sustained attention.

“Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself.” — Hebrews 13:3

    Verified vs. interpretation

Verified: Parolin addressed Christian persecution and religious freedom in his UN remarks.

Important distinction: His remarks are an advocacy and diplomatic statement from the Holy See; individual claims about particular conflicts should be evaluated against independent reporting and UN documentation.

Interpretation: Calling attention to persecuted Christians can be a constructive contribution to religious-freedom advocacy, especially when framed as protection for all people of faith.

    PROPHECY WATCH — October 7

Today is especially tempting for prophecy speculation because of the combination of:

    * Jerusalem-focused global prayer,
    * the anniversary of the October 7 attacks,
    * international Christian attention on Israel,
    * and ongoing Christian discussion of biblical passages concerning Israel and the nations.

But we should slow down here.

    What is verified

Christians are conducting a 24-hour global prayer gathering focused on Israel and Jerusalem.

A major international Christian delegation recently gathered in Jerusalem.

    What Scripture says

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” — Psalm 122:6

“So keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.” — Matthew 24:42

“Test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:21

    What we should not claim

The events of October 7, 2026 do not give us biblical warrant to declare:

    * “This fulfills Ezekiel 38–39.”
    * “This fulfills Matthew 24.”
    * “This proves the Tribulation has begun.”
    * “This proves the Rapture is imminent.”
    * or any other specific prophetic conclusion.

Those would go beyond what the evidence establishes.

A biblical sign is not whatever resembles a verse. Scripture itself has to establish the connection.

    ⸻

    Today’s Encouragement

Today’s five stories have a common thread:

The Gospel is still being preached.
    Christians are still praying.
Believers from many nations are seeking reconciliation and fellowship.
Archaeology continues illuminating the world in which Christianity developed.
The suffering of persecuted Christians is still being brought before the world.

And perhaps the most important response today isn’t trying to decode every headline.

    It’s faithfulness.

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58

Watch. Pray. Test. Serve. Preach the Gospel. Stay faithful to Jesus.
✝️ Christianity • Bible • Prophecy Daily Briefing Wednesday, October 7, 2026 I checked fresh reporting for today and kept this to exactly 5 stories, prioritizing Gospel activity, prayer, Christian witness, religious freedom, and Bible-era archaeology. Where prophecy comes into the picture, I’m separating what is documented from what Christians may interpret. ⸻ 1. 🔥 More Than 800 People Reportedly Responded to the Gospel at Manchester Outreach What happened The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s God Loves You Tour brought Franklin Graham to Manchester’s Co-op Live on October 3. Why it matters The encouraging part isn’t simply the attendance figure. The event involved churches inviting people, Gospel proclamation, a response to Christ, and follow-up through local churches. That last part matters. Biblically, evangelism is not supposed to end with a moment of emotion; Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them to obey Him. “Go and make disciples of all the nations.” — Matthew 28:19 🔎 Verified vs. interpretation Verified: The event occurred October 3, churches participated, and BGEA reported more than 800 decisions for Christ. Interpretation: It is reasonable to celebrate this as substantial evangelistic fruit. It would be premature, however, to declare one event proof of a national revival. Lasting repentance, discipleship, transformed lives, and perseverance are better tests of spiritual fruit. Source: Christian Post report on the Manchester God Loves You Tour ⸻ 2. 🙏 Christians Around the World Unite Today for 24 Hours of Prayer for Israel and Jerusalem What is happening Today, October 7, Christians from multiple nations are participating in a 24-hour Global Prayer Event for Israel, broadcast from Jerusalem and moving across time zones. Organizers say the event is focused on prayer for Jerusalem, Israel, families affected by the conflict, hostages and their families, unity among believers, and peace among nations. The event is scheduled to continue across every timezone rather than being a single local gathering. Why it matters Whatever someone’s political views about Israel or the Middle East, Christians have a direct biblical basis for praying for Jerusalem: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” — Psalm 122:6 This is also a constructive example of Christians responding to a deeply painful anniversary with prayer rather than merely argument. A separate German Christian prayer initiative is also holding a national night of prayer today for Jewish life and against antisemitism. 🔎 Prophecy watch Verified: The global prayer event is taking place today and is being broadcast from Jerusalem. Source: Global Prayer Event official site ⸻ 3. 🤝 Nigerian King Uses First Israel Visit to Highlight Jewish-Christian Relationships What happened Ogiame Atuwatse III, the 21st Olu of the Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, made his first visit to Israel during a larger Christian delegation that brought about 550 Christian leaders from 51 nations to Israel. The delegation was organized by Eagles’ Wings and included participation in the Awake Jerusalem Christian worship gathering. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, the Nigerian king emphasized reconciliation, healing, and a peace rooted in relationship with the Creator. Why it matters This is noteworthy because it combines African Christian leadership, Jewish-Christian relationship building, prayer, and international fellowship. It also reflects the increasingly global character of Christianity. Christian engagement with Israel is no longer primarily a Western phenomenon; African, Asian, Latin American, and other Christian leaders are increasingly visible participants. 🔎 Verified vs. interpretation Verified: The delegation included approximately 550 Christian leaders from 51 nations, and the Nigerian king visited Israel and spoke publicly about peace and healing. Interpretation: Christians can reasonably see cross-national Christian fellowship and Jewish-Christian reconciliation as encouraging. Not established: The gathering is not proof of a particular prophetic fulfillment. Source: Jerusalem Post report on the Nigerian king's visit ⸻ 4. 🏺 Major Byzantine-Era Gold Hoard Unearthed at Hippos Near the Sea of Galilee What happened Archaeologists excavating Hippos-Sussita, an ancient city overlooking the Sea of Galilee, uncovered a remarkable hoard containing nearly 100 Byzantine gold coins and numerous pieces of jewelry. Why it matters This discovery doesn’t directly prove a biblical passage, but it dramatically enriches our understanding of the Christian world surrounding the New Testament and its aftermath. The Sea of Galilee region was central to Jesus’ ministry, and archaeology continues to reveal the changing communities that lived there across the centuries. It is also a reminder that archaeology works best when it reconstructs history patiently rather than trying to force every discovery into a sensational biblical claim. 🔎 Verified vs. interpretation Verified: The excavation uncovered the gold coins and jewelry; the site was an important Byzantine Christian center; and the hoard is associated with the period of the Sassanid invasion. Interpretation: The discovery provides valuable historical context for the Christian presence in the Galilee. Not established: It does not demonstrate fulfillment of biblical prophecy. • JESUS HEALS AND RESTORES

His Power • His Compassion • His Fulfilment of Prophecy

    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE

Matthew 8:16–17 (KJV) “When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.”

    1. “THEY BROUGHT UNTO HIM MANY” — BRING PEOPLE TO JESUS

People brought the sick and troubled to Jesus because they believed He could help them.

Sometimes a person is too weak, discouraged or confused to seek help alone.

    Real-life experience:
When someone is seriously ill, family members often carry or accompany that person to the hospital. Why? Because they know the person needs help.

Likewise, we should bring people to Christ through prayer, encouragement and sharing His Word.

    2. “HE CAST OUT THE SPIRITS WITH HIS WORD” — JESUS HAS AUTHORITY

Jesus did not need complicated rituals. He spoke, and the spirits obeyed.

    His Word carries authority.

Where human strength reaches its limit, Christ's authority remains unlimited.

This does not mean every problem is automatically a demonic problem. We must use wisdom and seek appropriate medical, professional and spiritual help where necessary.

    3. “AND HEALED ALL THAT WERE SICK” — JESUS CARES ABOUT HUMAN SUFFERING

Matthew shows us a compassionate Jesus who responded to people in need.

Jesus is not indifferent to human pain.

    Real-life experience:
A good doctor does not merely look at a patient's condition; the doctor listens, examines and seeks to bring relief.

Christ goes deeper. He cares about the whole person—body, mind and spirit.

    4. “HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES, AND BARE OUR SICKNESSES” — JESUS FULFILLED GOD'S PROMISE

Matthew connects Jesus' ministry with Isaiah 53:4.

Christ came as the promised Servant who bears human suffering and ultimately gives Himself for our redemption.

The cross reminds us that Jesus did not remain distant from our pain. He entered into our brokenness to save us.

    KEY LESSON

    1. JESUS HAS AUTHORITY
    2. JESUS CARES
    3. JESUS FULFILS GOD'S WORD
    4. JESUS BRINGS RESTORATION

    REAL-LIFE APPLICATION

When you are sick—pray and seek proper care.

When you are discouraged—run to Christ, not away from Him.

When someone is struggling—don't condemn; help and pray.

When circumstances seem beyond you—remember that Jesus has authority.

    FINAL CHARGE

Don't let your situation convince you that Jesus is distant.

The people in Matthew 8 brought their problems to Jesus—and Jesus responded.

Bring your burdens to Christ. Trust His power. Follow His Word.

    SHORT PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your compassion and power. Help me to bring my burdens and the needs of others to You. Strengthen those who are sick, discouraged and troubled. Give us wisdom to seek the right help and faith to trust You completely. Amen.
