• Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

This morning is the beginning of a three-event weekend for me. Stockwell this morning, Williamsport this afternoon, and Boswell tomorrow. My inventory is plentiful, my eyes are opening slowly (haha), and my outlook for today is bright as the sun will be high. Today is going to be a great day for seed planting.

It is funny, however, that when I actually fell into bed last night, my mind was racing … even though I had taken some shut my mind off medicine. That tells me right there that this morning is going to be awesome. Only if it were not designed that way would the enemy left me alone and allowed me to sleep. Hmmm, guess he forgot what a stubborn cuss I am.

Yesterday I spoke of masks. We all wear them from time to time. Parents wear them so that their kids feel safe in stressful situations. Kids wear them when they think they have disappointed their parents. Adults, in general, wear them to keep up appearances so that they do not appear weak. Children wear them with their aging parents as their aging parents turn into children. We all wear them. However, when those masks become our persona … that is when the trouble strikes. That is when the enemy digs in and twists things. That is when we are the most vulnerable to his attacks and hooks.

Now, as I have stated, some masks really are needed, comforting a child or an aging/ill parent in a stressful situation. Absolutely, a mask is warranted. A scared child looks to their parent for security. A scared parent looks to their child when their time is near. Each needs to know that it is ok and it is going to be okay. This is strength.

The masks that are harmful are the ones that cause damage and destruction. The masks that are harmful are the ones that create chaos and disorder. The masks that are harmful are the ones that flip the script and make the wearer the victim.

When we wear a mask so sternly that even we are buying what the mask is saying, there is a problem. When we wear a mask that hides everything and pretend that everything is okay, that is when the enemy swoops in and says, “If you tell, they will know that you are a liar.” That is when the mask begins to layer itself one layer at a time, making it difficult to remove and be free from the turmoil.

But … there is a solution. There is hope. There is a way to chisel off the layers of masks and be free of the guilt. It is simple, yet difficult. Simple in that all you need to do is surrender all the layers to God and leave them with Him. Difficult in that surrendering means that others will find out someday. Difficult in that you won’t be in control of the distribution of who gets to know. Difficult in that the enemy wants that control over you and makes it seem right to continue to wear it. Difficult in that it will make you feel vulnerable at the same time it makes you feel free, but the freedom from that mask begins to grow in power and deepen your roots in the Father’s house.

Today is a good day to do some summertime cleaning and start shedding yourself of the masks that you have been wearing all these years. Take them off one layer at a time and give them to the one who can destroy them forever. Find your peace that is hiding under all layers. Surrender to the Holy Spirit today and find out what real Joy is.

    Be blessed.
