The Bible’s Big Story The Bible is one unified book telling the story of God’s glory through creation, humanity’s rebellion, God’s covenant promises, and their complete fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Everything moves toward Christ’s preeminence. The Old Testament prepares the way; the New Testament reveals Him as the fulfillment. Together they form 66 inspired books—39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New. The Old Testament (39 Books): God’s Promises and Preparation The Old Testament shows God creating the world, choosing a people, giving them His law, and promising a coming King who would fix what sin broke. Jesus said He came to fulfill it, not abolish it (Matthew 5:17). The New Testament constantly quotes and explains the Old, showing that Christ is the true temple, the better Moses, the perfect high priest, the faithful Israel, and the eternal King. Everything in the Bible centers on the supremacy and preeminence of Christ that we have been studying in Colossians 1. He is the goal of the Old Testament promises and the living reality of the New Testament gospel. The whole book calls you to trust Him, repent of sin, and live under His rule until He returns. Three Angels Broadcasting Network Devotional. Sound the Alarm By Jenni Poling August 19th, 2026 “Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; for the day of the Lord is coming, for it is at hand.” Joel 2:1 To take a stroll in late summer in Southern Illinois is to be treated to a symphony, day or night. The air is filled with the sound of insects, including crickets, katydids, grasshoppers, and cicadas. There is a seemingly endless array of melody and percussion. No song is louder than that of the cicada, however. In fact the Australian green grocer cicada is considered one of the loudest insects in the world. Cicadas can produce sounds up to 120 decibels—loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss in humans at close range. The male cicada doesn’t deafen himself, however. He is equipped with the ability to protect his own eardrums by shutting them down while singing. So what are these noisy creatures? At first glance, they might appear to be enormous flies, but closer inspection reveals that they have wide-set eyes, short antennae, and membranous wings held close to the sides of their body. The largest cicada—the empress cicada—has a head and body length of 2.8 inches and a wingspan of 8 inches! Another amazing fact about the cicada is that it comes engineered with the first known biomaterial that can kill bacteria. Its wing surfaces are covered with nanoscale-sized spikes that simply tear the bacteria apart. Cicadas spend the majority of their life underground, tapping into the roots of trees and emerging for only a few short weeks to mate and lay eggs. There are two major groups of cicadas: the annual and the periodic types. All spend considerable time underground, but the periodic cicada broods are synchronized to emerge all at once every thirteen to seventeen years. And when this happens, it’s quite an event because the sight and sound are tremendous! Cicadas like to sing during the daytime, but especially at dawn and dusk. One evening, while we were on one of our walks, it occurred to me that they sounded like so many alarms going off, and that got me thinking. What are alarms used for? Well, there are alarm clocks to wake you up. There are also fire alarms, burglar alarms, and car alarms, among others. The message of these alarms is about the same: if you want to avoid trouble, get up, get ready, and get going! I wonder, might there also be some internal alarms going off? Alarms that tell us to shake off our lethargy and observe what is happening around us in the spiritual realm? Is there something that tells us to wake up and be roused to action? Listen, because the alarms may be sounding loudly for you! WHICH CAME FIRST: PENTECOST OR PAUL'S CONVERSION? The Day of Pentecost came first. Pentecost: Acts 2:1-4 — About 30-33 AD. This is when the Holy Spirit came down. Peter stood and said: Acts 2:16-17 — “But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: ‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh... and your young men shall see visions’” Paul’s conversion: Acts 9:3-6 — About 34-36 AD. Roughly 1 to 4 years AFTER Pentecost. So Peter declared the last days had begun on Pentecost Day. Paul's vision came AFTER the last days had already begun. 2. WHY THIS MATTERS FOR THE VISIONS — RED 7, GREEN 7, SKELETON, I SAW AFTER VANISHED. Because Pentecost was first, then Paul's vision, it proves this: Acts 2:17 did not stop at Pentecost. Paul's vision in Acts 9 and Acts 26:16 — “I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness” — is proof that visions are counted in the last days. That means: If Paul could see a vision AFTER Pentecost and it was counted as part of Acts 2:17, Then the visions Red 7 in the sky, Green 7 on the wall, and the Skeleton visions that vanished afterwards are ALSO counted as part of Acts 2:17. The Bible says Acts 2:17 says visions shall STILL happen up to now in these last days. Hebrews 1:2 — “but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son” — God still speaks by visions, by His Son. Joel 2:28 = Acts 2:17 — It is for now. It has not ended. 3. THE CONFIRMATION I SAW IN THE SEARCH WITH THE WORD Shows this correctly: “The Day of Pentecost came first” The last days began at Pentecost, and Paul’s vision was inside the last days. So are here today we live. Hebrews 1:2 — “but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son” Acts 2:17 — “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh... and your young men shall see visions” God promised visions in the last days. And He is doing it. I myself was shown 3 things: A RED 7 IN THE SKY, A GREEN 7 ON THE WALL, AND A SKELETON. But hear me: I’m not here to make you stare at visions. I’m here as REAGAN a servant& a witness of Jesus to do 2 things: Feed His sheep with truth. Testify to what I have seen Him do Acts 26:16 The goal of every vision is this: To bring you back to THE SON. John 3:30 POINT 1: SPIRITUAL AWAKENING - GOD IS SPEAKING NOW Joel 2:28-29 “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh” We are in Pentecost season. The Spirit is being poured. God is waking people up through dreams, visions, and His Word. Why? Proverbs 29:18 — “Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint” When God stops speaking, people go wild. But God IS speaking. THE 3 VISIONS I SAW - GOD’S WARNING: RED 7 IN THE SKY - The Blood of Jesus. The work is finished. Time is short. Hebrews 9:12 GREEN 7 ON THE WALL - Life from the Spirit. God wants to restore His house. Ezekiel 37:9 SKELETON - What’s left when we ignore the Son. Death. Dry bones. Ezekiel 37:11 Application: Don’t chase the sign. HEAR THE SON. Hebrews 1:2 - POINT 2: SPIRITUAL RENEWAL + REVIVAL - COME BACK TO THE WORD Joel 2:29, Psalm 51:10 Revival is not hype. It’s not noise. Revival is when the Spirit brings us back to Jesus and to the Word. John 15:26 2 Chronicles 7:14 — “If my people... turn from their wicked ways, then I will heal their land.” The Spirit was poured at Pentecost to make us like Jesus, not to make us famous. Ask God today: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 --- POINT 3: REPENTANCE + OBEDIENCE = LIFE + PURITY BEFORE GOD Acts 3:19, John 14:23, 1 Peter 1:15-16 “The day is near. So what do we do?” A. REPENT Acts 3:19 — “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out” Turn away from darkness. Turn to the Light. B. OBEY HIS WORD/COMMANDMENTS John 14:23 — “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word” Love is not a feeling. Love is obedience. C. BE HOLY / BE PURE 1 Peter 1:15-16 — “as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct” Why? Because we serve a Holy God. And Jesus is coming for a pure bride. Ephesians 5:26-27 THE PROMISE: John 10:10 — “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” Obedience brings LIFE. Disobedience brings SKELETON. --- WARNING: DON'T MISS JESUS IN THE VISIONS Matthew 24:24, 1 John 4:1 The enemy also gives signs. Matthew 24:24 Test every vision: Does it lead you to Jesus? To the Cross? To Holiness? To the Word? My vision was not to glorify me.
