- I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
— Romans 8:18
Thought Of The Day...
Our reading for today is a powerful passage in which the apostle Paul discusses living, as a Christian, through the suffering that often comes as part of our fallen humanity. The apostle knows what pain and suffering are all about. So he is addressing this topic both personally and theologically.
Paul maintains that “our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” This does not minimize the pain we are going through. Rather, it elevates the much more outstanding glory to come.
How can Christ be glorified in us through our suffering? By our declaration of our love for him, by our trusting in his faithfulness, by our holding to the peace of God despite our pain and struggle. The Spirit always helps us—even if we don’t know what to do and how to pray about our situation.
In your suffering remember that God’s grace is real. Nothing can separate you from his love in Christ Jesus.
Prayer...
Heavenly Father, We come before You today with open hearts, seeking Your presence and comfort amidst our struggles. As we reflect on Romans 8:18, we acknowledge that our present sufferings often feel overwhelming. Yet, we are reminded that they cannot compare to the magnificent glory You have prepared for us in Christ.
Lord, in our moments of despair and uncertainty, encourage us with Your Spirit. Lift our spirits when we feel burdened, and grant us the strength to persevere. Help us to trust in Your divine plan, knowing that every trial we face is a stepping stone toward a greater purpose. May we find solace in Your promises and reassurance in Your unwavering love.
When we feel lost or alone, remind us that You are our refuge and strength. Surround us with Your peace that transcends all understanding, and help us to see the light of hope even in the darkest of times. Teach us to lean into our suffering, knowing that it is through these experiences that we grow closer to You and to the promise of eternal glory.
As we navigate our challenges, may we be filled with the assurance that our pain is not in vain. Help us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, for what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Instill in us the confidence that our struggles are shaping us, preparing us for the day when we will be revealed as Your beloved children, sharing in the glory of Your kingdom.
Lord, we pray for those around us who are also enduring hardships. May we be instruments of Your love and support, extending kindness and encouragement to one another. Let our community be a source of strength, reflecting Your character and grace in times of difficulty.
Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We place our trust in You, knowing that You will guide us through every trial. May we look forward with hope to the glory that awaits us and live our lives in a way that honors You, even in our suffering.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.0 Comments 0 Shares 4 Views - ' But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name–[Isa. 56:5.]'
