WHY PARENTING ISN’T JUST RAISING KIDS IT IS STEWARDSHIP OF SOULS GOD ENTRUSTED TO YOU People say parenting is just keeping them safe. They say it is mostly about behavior. They say if your child is happy, you are doing enough. Common assumptions. But Scripture says more. Here are the truths that change how you see it: 1️⃣ Children are not possessions, they are a gift from God → Psalm 127:3 “Children are a heritage from the Lord…” Your children belong to God before they ever belong to you. 2️⃣ Parenting is supposed to include training, not just protecting → Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go…” Love does not stop at comfort. It teaches, corrects, and guides. 3️⃣ Fathers and mothers must not lead from constant irritation → Ephesians 6:4 “Do not provoke your children to anger…” A child can obey outwardly while being crushed inwardly. That matters. 4️⃣ Discipline is part of love when done rightly → Proverbs 13:24 “The one who loves their children is careful to discipline them.” Biblical parenting is not passive. It is loving enough to correct. 5️⃣ The home is one of the first places children learn who God is → Deuteronomy 6:6 to 7 “Impress them on your children…” Faith is not meant to be occasional. It is meant to be woven into daily life. 6️⃣ Your example teaches as much as your words → 1 Corinthians 11:1 “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” Children often learn what you live before they listen to what you say. 7️⃣ Parenting requires dependence on God, not just personal strength → James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God…” Good parenting is not just effort. It needs wisdom from above. This is not just about raising well-behaved kids. It is about stewardship, discipline, example, prayer, and shaping hearts in a way that points them toward God.
