Man (sinner) cannot be united with God
Now access to Holy God is made through Jesus
Unless a person is born again and grafted to the life in Jesus Christ (last Adam/second man), he can never be united with God. Everything becomes new when a person is grafted in Jesus (2 Cor 5:17)
Believing in Jesus will not make you a new creation, but we have to be in Christ.
To be in Christ, we have to be cut off from our old environment in the which Sin reigned over us
Once cut from old natural branch through the word of God, we will be united with Christ in the new life.
