Who are Dalit Christians in India?

They are communities whose histories are rooted in Dalit experiences of caste, exclusion and social discrimination, and whose faith is rooted in Jesus Christ.

But conversion does not automatically erase caste.

Many Dalit Christians continue to encounter caste-based discrimination in society and, in some places, within Christian communities themselves. Their story is one of faith, dignity, resilience and the ongoing pursuit of justice.

If we believe that every person is created in the image of God, then caste cannot have a place at the table.
