Some people only stay close while everything is beneficial to them. They enjoy your kindness, your generosity, your patience, and your soft heart. But not everyone who smiles with you truly values you. That is why wisdom matters. Even Jesus showed love to everyone, yet He also knew when to walk away, when to stay silent, and when to guard His peace.
A lemon may not be the sweetest fruit, yet worms rarely stay there. In the same way, being overly sweet to toxic people can sometimes invite abuse, manipulation, and disrespect. God did not call us to become bitter, but He also did not call us to be foolish. We are commanded to love, but love must walk together with discernment.
The Bible says in Matthew 10:16, “Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Kindness is powerful when guided by wisdom. You can have a pure heart without allowing people to take advantage of you. You can forgive without reopening doors that God already closed. You can help others without destroying yourself in the process.
Not everyone deserves unlimited access to your life. Some people only come near when they can consume your peace, your energy, or your blessings. Protect the heart God gave you. Stay humble, stay loving, but stay wise. The right people will appreciate your goodness instead of exploiting it.
Godly kindness is not weakness. It is strength under the guidance of God.
