  • That’s *Romans 10:17*

    *Romans 10:17 ESV*
    > “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

    The context around it
Paul is talking about how people come to salvation:

    *Romans 10:14-17*
    > “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed?
    > And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?
    > And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
    > And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
    > So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

    *Point Paul’s making*:
    1. *Hearing* → God’s Word is shared
    2. *Believing* → faith is born in the heart
    3. *Calling* → we respond to Jesus

It’s why preaching, teaching, and sharing Scripture matters — God uses His Word to create faith.

  • *Psalm 49:20*

    *ESV*:
“Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.”

    *KJV*:
“Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.”

    *NIV*:
“People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish.”

    The meaning
Psalm 49 is about wealth, pride, and mortality. The psalmist is saying: no matter how rich, famous, or “in his pomp/honor” a person is — if they live without God and without wisdom, they’re no different from animals. They live, they die, and that’s it.

The whole psalm contrasts trusting in riches vs. trusting in God. *Psalm 49:15* right before it says “But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol"
