THE GOODNEWS: "Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” "Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” "Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” (John 1: 45 - 51). The people of Armenia claim St Bartholomew as the Founder of the Armenian Church. Here is the amazing faith of Philip in Jesus who had just launched His public ministry: “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.” Philip believes that Jesus is the Messiah. When Philip told his friend Bartholomew that they found Jesus, he said: “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” But Philip, a great evangelist said to Bartholomew, “Come and see.” Both Philip and Bartholomew spent some friendly time with Jesus that afternoon and both became His disciples. The interaction with Jesus closed the sale. And Bartholomew declared: “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” Who is Jesus planning to draw near Him through you? Be open and ready to share your faith anywhere, anytime, always. Be a Philip. Introduce somebody to Jesus today. Share your faith.

Jesus asked His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered for the 12: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to Peter in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Cf Matthew 16: 13 - 20).

Purity of Divine Character which conquered the persons. That Purity of Divine Character was Lord Jesus Christ.

When the Holy Spirit Says “No” Sometimes God's protection does not look like an open door. Sometimes it looks like a closed door. In Acts 16:6–7, Paul and his companions had plans to preach in certain regions. But Scripture says: «“They were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia.” — Acts 16:6» And again: «“The Spirit suffered them not.” — Acts 16:7» Paul had a plan. But the Holy Spirit had a different direction. Then Paul received the vision of a man from Macedonia saying, “Come over into Macedonia, and help us.” Paul understood that God was calling them there, and they changed their direction (Acts 16:9–10). The lesson is powerful: The Holy Spirit can protect you by stopping you. A closed door may not mean that God has forgotten you. A delay may not mean that God has rejected you. A change of direction may not be a failure. Sometimes God sees what we cannot see. We may think: “This is the right opportunity.” But God may say: “Not this way.” We may think: “I must go here.” But the Holy Spirit may redirect our steps. This is why Proverbs says: «“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5» And: «“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:6» The Christian life is not simply about asking God to bless our plans. It is about becoming willing to surrender our plans to God's will. Don't be afraid of God's “No.” His “No” may be protection. His “Wait” may be preparation. His redirection may be leading you toward something you cannot yet see. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Trust God's direction. Do not lean entirely on your own understanding. Because sometimes the road God closes is the road He is protecting you from. And sometimes the path He opens is the path He has prepared for you. “Lord, direct my steps. Close every door that is not from You, and give me the wisdom and courage to follow where Your Spirit leads. Amen.”

When Your Own Way Seems Right One of the most important lessons in Scripture is that what seems right to us is not always what is right before God. The Bible says: «“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” — Proverbs 14:12» This is a serious warning about human decision-making. We can sincerely believe that we are making the right choice. We can use our intelligence, experience, emotions, and reasoning—and still choose the wrong path. That is why Scripture says: «“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5» The Bible does not tell us to stop thinking or stop making decisions. It teaches us not to make our own understanding the final authority. Jesus also promised: «“When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth.” — John 16:13» And Paul says: «“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” — Romans 8:14» This gives us an important principle for Christian life: Don't simply ask, “What do I want?” Ask, “What does God want?” Before making an important decision: 🙏 Pray for wisdom. 📖 Search the Scriptures. 🕊️ Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 🔎 Test what you believe you are hearing against God's Word. 🤝 Seek godly counsel when necessary. ❤️ Remain humble enough to change your direction. Paul's experience in Acts 16 is a powerful example. He had plans, but the Holy Spirit redirected him. His plan was not the final authority—God's direction was. Our own decisions can have consequences. A path may look good today and yet lead somewhere we never expected. Therefore, don't put absolute confidence in your own understanding. Trust God. Listen to His Spirit. Follow His truth. Let Him direct your path. The safest question is not: “Does this decision seem right to me?” but: “Is this decision right before God?” Because the path that looks right is not necessarily the path that leads to life. Original concept : "Listen to the Holy Spirit. Do not take decisions from yourself. The Holy Spirit will save you. Your own incorrect decision will kill you."

A Christ-centered (typological) reading of Psalms 137:1–6 sees the psalm's longing for Zion as ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Psalm 137:1 "By the waters of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion." Babylon represents the fallen world, separated from God by sin. Zion points forward to Christ, who is the true dwelling place of God. The sorrow of exile reflects humanity's longing for reconciliation with God through Christ. Psalm 137:2 "On the willows there we hung up our lyres." The exiles could not sing the songs of Zion while in captivity. Spiritually, apart from Christ there is no lasting joy or true worship. Psalm 137:3 "For there our captors required of us songs..." The world often misunderstands or mocks the hope of God's people. Jesus Himself endured ridicule, rejection, and mockery during His earthly ministry and crucifixion. Psalm 137:4 "How shall we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land?" The believer lives as a pilgrim in this world. True worship reaches its fullness in communion with Christ, even while awaiting the fullness of God's Kingdom. Psalm 137:5 "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand wither!" In a Christ-centered reading, Jerusalem signifies Christ and His Kingdom. The faithful disciple resolves never to forget Christ, remaining steadfast in faith and love. Psalm 137:6 "If I do not remember you, if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy..." For Christians, Christ is the greatest joy and highest treasure. As Jesus taught: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness..." (Matthew 6:33) Summary In its original historical context, Psalm 137 mourns Israel's exile and expresses a longing for Jerusalem. In the light of Christ, it can also be read as the soul's longing for Jesus Christ—the true Temple, the true dwelling of God, and the One through whom believers enter the heavenly Jerusalem. The Christian's deepest desire is to remember Christ always and to place Him above every earthly joy.
