Devotion: John 14:12 “I am telling you the truth: those who believe in me will do what I do – yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father.” The power of faith is immense. Jesus Himself confirmed this many times. Faith can move mountains – Matthew 17:20: “I assure you that if you have faith as big as a mustard seed, you can say to this hill, ‘Go from here to there!’and it will go. You could do anything!” When you have faith, your prayers will be answered – Matthew 21:22: “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Faith in God can bring about miracles – Hebrews 11:11: “It was faith that made Abraham able to become a father, even though he was too old and Sarah herself could not have children. He trusted God to keep his promise.” True faith requires patience – Romans 8:25: “But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.” How firm is your faith these days? The world challenges us every day. Our faith is constantly being tested. We should keep in mind that God is in charge of His children’s lives and He will never let you down. Allow Him to take over, let go of your worries and KNOW that He will provide the solution at the right time. Devotion: Galatians 3:26-27 “But the scripture says that the whole world is under the power of sin; and so the gift which is promised on the basis of faith in Jesus Christ is given to those who believe. But before the time of faith came, the Law kept us all locked up as prisoners until this coming faith should be revealed. And so the Law was in charge of us until Christ came, in order that we might then be put right with God through faith. Now that the time of faith is here, the Law is no longer in charge of us. It is through faith that all of you are God’s children in union with Christ Jesus.” We are all sinners. Romans 3:23: “everyone has sinned and is far away from God’s saving presence.” If we were all pure of heart there would have been no purpose or reason for Jesus to come to earth in the first place. We needed salvation! We know the rules, through the Law written and handed over to Moses thousands of years ago. The difference between right and wrong is no big secret; it is but a matter of choice. Yet we always manage to make the WRONG decision and we end up in sin alley with a whole lot of baggage – pain, depression, loneliness, abandonment, sorrow, all the baddies. Then we sit in wonder that things turned out as it did. You, human, are responsible for your own life and your own choices. God gave us free will, after all. But if you make mistakes and blame it on an inhumane God, you are wrong. God does not punish us, He guides us and His guidance can, at times, be a painful process. The problem is that we, as humans, are always so dead set on getting OUR OWN WAY that we lose focus and forget God’s plan and purpose for us. Once you make the seemingly insane decision of following the lead of an invisible God (yes, your pals will have a good laugh at that) you will notice that things start to fall into place. You see, we were not just born by accident. We were placed here, in this temporary home for a specific purpose and once you understand your purpose and follow God’s will, your life will be more peaceful, less anxious. Why? Because you’ll know God is in control. Now, how do you know what God wants from me? You study His Word, you listen to His voice in your heart (that conscience you so abruptly shrugged off in the old days), you bring each decision to Him in prayer and you will receive an answer if you are patient and if you are listening well. 2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think. Instead, he is patient with you, …” God speaks to you all the time; you just seem to NOT notice the signs at all. Look for it, listen for it…He is always near. Remember, no matter what happens, or what sins you committed, God will forgive you through Jesus Christ who died on the cross just for that purpose – to release us from the stronghold of sin. He doesn’t want you to be lost, He sent His Son so you can be saved. 2 Peter 3:9: “…because he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants all to turn away from their sins.” Are you still a prisoner of the Law or are you free through the blood of Jesus Christ? Devotion: 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 “Three times I prayed to the Lord about this [Paul’s illness] and asked him to take it away. But his answer was: ‘My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.’ I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ’s power over me. I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong!” This is something we can all empathize with. Many times you’ve been going through hardships, things that became so overwhelming that you simply could not see the light at the end of the tunnel. Paul became very ill and he couldn’t stand the discomfort. He begged God to heal him, but instead God told him that his grace was enough. God was not blind to Paul’s suffering, but He gave him the strength to carry his burden with dignity. We would do well to learn the lesson here, Us humans can complain about almost everything. Often we exaggerate things to show others just how bad our lives are. But, if you are indeed struggling, be it financially, healthwise, mentally or with relationships, remember that God is with you in this and that even the pain we endure serves His purpose. You may lose hope now, but in Christ you will always find it again. Our weakness causes us to depend more upon God. Look what the scriptures say: God’s strength manifest in our weakness – Isaiah 40:29: “He strengthens those who are weak and tired.” When you have no other help, God will be your refuge – 2 Timothy 4:16-17: “No one stood by me the first time I defended myself; all deserted me. May God not count it against them! But the Lord stayed with me and gave me strength, so that I was able to proclaim the full message for all the Gentiles to hear….” God will give you daily strength – Matthew 6:34: “So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.” When you fail and have little strength, God will rescue you – Psalm 37:24: “If they fall, they will not stay down, because the LORD will help them up.” Everything has an ending and a beginning. Your suffering will eventually become bearable and you will be able to enjoy wellness again. I guarantee you that, when you look back on your dark times, you will be astounded that you actually came through. Know this, you survived NOT BY YOUR OWN SKILL, but by the GRACE OF GOD. There is a reason behind all the darkness. For me it is a means to learn about my strength and my faith in the Almighty, but also it gives me the ability to talk to other struggling souls with true empathy. Depend on God alone while battling your demons and you will live to share the tale with others. You can be a source of hope to those who have none, because you have had the experience and you can vouch for the loyalty of our God and Saviour. Devotion: Lamentations 3:40-42 “Let us examine our ways and turn back to the LORD . Let us open our hearts to God in heaven and pray, “We have sinned and rebelled, and you, O LORD , have not forgiven us.” Why is it that we wonder about what went wrong in the world? Isn’t the answer obvious? Or do people choose to ignore the truth? Friends, the fact is, we have turned our backs on God. There it is, the hard truth. We look at the world and the terrible things people do to each other and think: “Oh, this is bad, but it is not my business nor my fault.” In many ways we have become numb, so instead of trying to change things, we just go on as if nothing ever happened. The devil is loose on earth and he is having the time of his life. He wallows in the hatred, the death and destruction while we sit idly by. We have forgotten that our God is more powerful than this dark angel. We have chosen to accept whatever he is up to. We have betrayed our own faith. The time has come for us to rise up and claim the world for God again. We should turn from our sinful ways. Satan has deceived us all. He said that one more party wouldn’t matter, one more lie means nothing, hating someone is okay, gossip all you want, it’s what we do, boast about your status and wealth to make sure others respect you. He also said: “Yes, go to church, it will prove your worth AND you will feel less guilty. Then you can do your week with selfishness, pride, lies, hatred and deceit.” Is this true of you? Perhaps you think that if you say you’re a Christian, you are safe. Wrong. You need to live a LIFE IN CHRIST. You must walk with Him every single day. It is so simple. You just need to confess your sins and you will be forgiven. That is the wonder of the cross. You are never SO lost that God will abandon you. He is waiting for all of us to return to Him. If every person in the world should accept Jesus as his or her Saviour, the world will be a beautiful place. “From the bottom of the pit, O LORD , I cried out to you, And when I begged you to listen to my cry, you heard. You answered me and told me not to be afraid. “You came to my rescue, Lord, and saved my life.” Lamentations 3:55‭-‬58 GNB You may think saving the entire world is impossible, but I believe it can be done. God doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He wants everyone to be redeemed. You may say that you are just one person, how can that make a difference? Jesus was also just one person and look at the impact He had on the world. Sometimes it takes just one to raise his hand in defiance to start an uprising. Raise YOUR hand today and start a rising of Spirit of faith, of glory to God and others will follow your example. Once you’ve returned to God, once you’ve started a new life in Christ, listening to Him through His Word and talking to Him in prayer, you will be compelled to reproduce discipleship by sharing the gospel. That is our mission after all. “Jesus drew near and said to them, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18‭-‬20 GNB Ask yourself: Am I walking with God, spreading His gospel and planting the seed of redemption to those around me? Or is my back still turned on Him and are my words and deeds like empty shells? Pretty on the outside, but without substance and meaning. Devotion: Zephania 3:17 “The LORD your God is with you; his power gives you victory. The LORD will take delight in you, and in his love he will give you new life. He will sing and be joyful over you.” We’ve all made the mistake of relying on ourselves through difficult situations. Scripture teaches us that God is stronger than all trials we may endure in this life. Through His power and your faith in Jesus Christ, you can indeed leave it all to God. You may ask why should believe this about a person we have never seen. How can He be real? Isn’t Christianity the biggest scam of all time? Within social media feeds you’ll find many examples of scams; people exploiting the gullible world. Living, breathing people that you can actually SEE. God is NOT a scam. He has been around since time began and the evidence of His power can be found throughout His Word and seen in all creation. Let’s have a look at some reasons why you can (and should) rely on God for everything in your life: * God is infinitely more powerful than weak man – Psalms: 8:3-4: “When I look at the sky, which you have made, at the moon and the stars, which you set in their places – what are human beings, that you think of them; mere mortals that you care for them.” Isaiah 40:8: “Yes, the grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God endures forever.” *Strength of man – Isaiah 40:6-7: “Proclaim that all humans are like grass; they last no longer than wild flowers. Grass withers and flowers fade, when the LORD sends wind blowing over them. People are no more enduring than grass.” *God can do ANYTHING – Jeremiah 32:27 : “Then the LORD said to me: ‘I am the LORD, the God of the whole human race. Nothing is too difficult for me.” *God has total power over man – Job 12:10: “It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone’s life is in his power.” We often underestimate the power of God. We pray, asking for His help, but then our impatience takes over. In our weakness, we try to correct the mistakes we made and change dire circumstances of our life ourselves. We should trust God more. If you ask in prayer and you BELIEVE that God will hear you and answer your prayer, you will receive (Mark 11:24). We say we believe in God, but how much do we really trust Him? If things go south, we blame God, thinking that He did not hear our prayer or that He doesn’t care. Have you ever considered that your current suffering may be God’s way to test your trust in Him? Accept then that you, as a human, are weak. You have no power to change your life or stop bad things from happening. Remember, the world dances to a different beat and most people who offer help have their own agenda. God has NO HIDDEN AGENDA. He helps His children out of pure love and through the blood of Jesus Christ so that you can be a victorious recipient of His grace. Keep in mind that you cannot order God around. He knows your weaknesses, He understands your frustration, but He also sees the future and knows that the suffering you now endure will be a learning curve and will bring you closer to accepting the gracious gift of love He offers. Without God you are just tendons, muscle and bones, but WITH God you become a powerful spiritual warrior that can stand firm in faith, always trusting that God will provide a way out. Devotion: John 10:9-11 “I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out to pasture. The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life – life in all its fullness. ‘I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep.” Does this sound familiar? Look around you. What do you see? Chaos, greed, hatred, murder, jealousy, aggression….the list goes on and on. Our world has become the devil’s playground. While we may pretend that everything is fine, that we are happy and content, there is always that undercurrent of fear. Our Shepherd came to erase that fear and replace it with peace. It is given freely, no strings attached, no scam, just and offering of goodness, kindness and mercy. If you’ve accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, the Holy Spirit became your guide, your protector in an evil world. Isaiah 40:11 tells us that “He will take care of his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs together and carry them in his arms; he will gently lead their mothers.” In the confusion and tumult of our lives today, we can rest assured that God Himself will seek us and find us and keep us safe. Ezekiel 34:11:”I, the sovereign LORD, tell you that I myself will look for my sheep and take care of them.” Living a life of obedience to God is difficult these days. People are murdered for their faith and the world applauds those who took the lives of those innocents. Of course the world is only chasing the next viral video, the next little piece of gossip. They have no compassion, no love or empathy and absolutely no inclination to change their ways. This is exactly what the devil and his followers want. They are ruling the world and enjoying every sinful thing they can think of. We lose hope, because it feels as if God has abandoned us. You need to understand, however, that the Good Shepherd will not allow His sheep to get consumed by the greedy, hateful world. Through the blood of Christ we received salvation and redemption, with His resurrection He showed us that death is not the end and with His ascention to the heavens, He gave us a promise that He will indeed return to fetch His flock. We need not fear, for God is with us. He is always close. 1 John 4:4 says: “But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit that is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.” We can stand firm in faith, knowing that we are not lost anymore, we have a Father that will do anything to protect and guide us. This doesn’t mean that life would be easy, though. The evil one will always try to derail us, to make us question the existence of God. He will tempt us and try to lure us away from the path of Light. But we know that we have been saved and live our lives according to scripture, always guided by the Holy Spirit. We can bear fruit that can draw in those who are struggling in the grip of Satan himself so that they can experience the presence of peace. Our lives here is almost done, for the return of Jesus Christ is imminent. Be ready, friends, wait patiently and live godly lives. I give you a final scripture that’s been on my mind lately. Revelation 7:16-17:”Never again will they hunger or thirst; neither sun nor any scorching heat will burn them, because the Lamb, who is the centre of the throne, will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of life-giving water. Devotion: Psalms 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The LORD protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid. Psalms 27:1 GNB Thoughts: We need to put our trust in God alone; He is our protector. Darkness may overcome us at any time. The devil is cunning and deceptive, but when we hold on to our belief in God. His light will shine in the darkness. We do not have to fear those that can harm us physically either, nor do we need to fear disease. The Holy Spirit lives in our hearts, God guides us on our lifepath and, whatever comes our way, we will always be safe. In times of trouble he will shelter me; he will keep me safe in his Temple and make me secure on a high rock. Psalms 27:5 GNB We must remember, even if the body doesn’t survive, the spirit will and that spirit belongs to God and will live forever in His kingdom. Physical death is only a doorway to a greater and far better existence. Remember: Sometimes things may not turn out very well, but we can be at peace anyway, because the outcome of every situation is in the hands of God. We need not fear anything; let us face the future with courage, let us stand tall and, in everything, praise the Name of the Lord, for He is our wise protector, our salvation and our eternal light. Devotion: Isaiah 14:10 “Do not be afraid – I am with you! I am your God – let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.” We have absolutely no reason to worry about anything. If you are a child of God, you are in His capable hands and He will never let you fall. Things may seem chaotic for you, but for God it all makes sense and is part of the life He wants for you. You may ask: “Why should I believe anything written in this post?” Well, the answer is simple, because it is promised to His children by God Himself. Have a look at a few promises made by God: The Lord will save us: Zechariah 9:16: “…the LORD will save his people, as a shepherd saves his flock from danger. They will shine in his land like the jewels in the crown.” God will guide us in our lives: Psalms 32:8: “The LORD says, ‘I will teach you the way you should go; I will instruct and advise you.” God will protect us: Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. You God, the LORD himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you.” The Lord will listen to our prayers: Jeremiah 29:12-13: “Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you. You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.” The Lord will give us peace: John 14:27: “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” You may feel consumed by anxiety, but you should keep in mind that God is your rock, your anchor, your pillar of strength at this time when you feel so lost, worried and weary. Hold on to the hand He stretches to you; accept the offer He extends to lift you up. Your prayers will be heard and answered and your strength will return. Devotion: Romans 10:17 “So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ.” In order for us to live in faith, we need to study the Word of God. Faith grows through knowledge of miracles performed, prophecies given and history told by the authors of the Bible. The Bible is where you will find the promises of God. Promises that He will keep, for God is no liar. Your faith can therefore grow by doing the following: Read your Bible – Romans 15:4: “Everything in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us.” Listen to testimonies of faith – John 4:39: “Many of the Samaritans in that town believed in Jesus because the woman had said, ‘He told me everything I have ever done.” 2 Peter 1:16 & 17: “We have not depended on made-up stories in making known to you the mighty coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We were there…..” Miracles are a source of hope for the faithful – Remember when Elijah prayed to God to light up the fire on his altar? God sent fire from the heavens and burnt the sacrifice in front of the people.  1 Kings 18:39: “When the people saw this, they threw themselves on the ground and exclaimed: ‘The LORD is God; the LORD alone is God!” Remember that faith is a gift from God – Romans 12:3: “….judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you.” Acts 14: 27: “…he had opened the way for the Gentiles to believe.” More reading: John 17:20; John 20:30 & 31; 1 Timothy 4:6; Acts 9:36-42 When was the last time that you actually studied the Word of God? If it has been a while, you should not be surprised that your faith is faltering. You cannot expect your faith to thrive if you do nothing to sustain it. Devotion: Romans 3:10-12 “As the Scriptures say: ‘There is no one who is righteous, no one who is wise or who worships God. All have turned away from God; they have all gone wrong; no one does what is right, not even one.” Looking at our world today we can all agree that there is little goodness and righteousness in the world. People just don’t care anymore. They start wars while leaving the victims of their ego trip starving and without hope. One thing that I am sure of is that the events we witness today have been prophesied thousands of years ago. These wars, natural disasters, famine and other things that bring pain and suffering to the innocent must happen. They pave the road for the return of Jesus Christ. He will return in glory with His angels by His side and heal the broken and save those who continued to pray with humble gratitude despite their circumstances. You see, we are all sinners. We were born without sin, even those who refuse to turn to God, but the world and its temptations lured us in with its instant gratification. God knew this would happen so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from our iniquities. We did not deserve His merciful act, yet He allowed His Son to be tortured and crucified, the living sacrifice for us. Through His death He gave us salvation, with His resurrection He gave us eternal life and with His ascension He offered the promise of His return. While the world is in chaos, the playground of Lucifer himself, we can receive the blood of Jesus, we can turn back to God. But all is not lost…..I’ve seen many posts on social media showing everyday people accepting Christ as their Saviour. Thousands have been baptized over the past few years. God provided a sacrificial Lamb so that we can be free from sin.  Ephesians 2:8-9 says: “For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. Devotion: 2 Corinthians 10:3-7 “It is true that we live in the world, but we do not fight from worldly motives. The weapons we use in our fight are not the world’s weapons but God’s powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ.” When you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you win an entire army of angels that will help you in your spiritual battle. Every Christian, whether they recognize it for what it is or not, fights a spiritual battle against forces unseen. The Devil prowls around and seeks those who may falter in faith, those who are new in faith, those who are vulnerable and he brings them even further down. Have you ever wondered why, when things go wrong in your life, EVERYTHING seems to follow suit? That, right there, is the old evil one in action. He wants to attack you from every side so that you can become desperate and sink into the mire from which he rose. He wants you to question the power of God, doubt in your faith and forget your first love, Jesus Christ. Fortunately, if you stand firm in faith, you can fight him on his own grounds with spiritual weapons. These are not swords of justice or guns; these are psychological means of battle. As I mentioned, once you’ve been saved you have an entire army of angels and, yes, God Himself, who will fight by your side. You are NOT alone in battle and you shall NOT fail. Jude 1:3: “…I felt the need of writing at once to encourage you to fight on for the faith which once and for all God has given to his people.” Remember also that the Devil can use other people to forge a battle against you.
