- KEEP BELIEVING
Even when nothing seems to be changing, keep believing—God is still working behind the scenes. What He promised will come to pass in His perfect timing.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” — Hebrews 11:1

God Builds With What the World Rejects
Mark chapter 12 records Jesus teaching the parable of the wicked vine dressers. In the story, the owner of a vineyard sends servants to collect fruit from the tenants, but they are rejected and mistreated. Finally, he sends his beloved son, and the tenants kill him as well.
After telling the parable, Jesus quotes this Scripture about the rejected stone becoming the chief cornerstone. He was speaking about Himself. The religious leaders and many others would reject Him, yet God would establish Him as the foundation of salvation and the cornerstone of His kingdom.
In ancient construction, the cornerstone was the most important stone in the building. It determined alignment, stability, and strength for the entire structure. Jesus revealed that although people rejected Him, God had chosen Him as the foundation upon which eternal life and the kingdom of God would stand.
This verse also reveals a broader spiritual truth. God often works through what the world overlooks, rejects, or underestimates. Human judgment may dismiss what God has chosen, but God’s purposes always prevail.
For believers today this verse reminds us that Jesus must remain the foundation of our lives. Culture, opinions, and circumstances may shift, but Christ is the unshakable cornerstone. Building life upon Him brings stability, truth, and eternal hope.
It also encourages believers who may feel overlooked or rejected. God is able to use what others dismiss for His greater purpose and glory.
Reflection Questions
1. Is Jesus truly the foundation upon which I build my life
2. How does this verse strengthen my confidence in Christ
3. Have I allowed the opinions of others to shape my identity more than God’s truth
Prayer
Lord Jesus thank You for being the chief cornerstone and the firm foundation for my life. Help me to build every part of my life upon Your truth and Your Word. Strengthen me when I feel rejected or discouraged and remind me that Your purposes are greater than human opinions. In Jesus name Amen.
Practical Application
- Build daily decisions on the teachings of Christ
- rust God’s purpose even when circumstances feel discouraging
- Remember that lasting security is found in Jesus alone
Takeaway Thought
What the world rejects, God can establish for His glory and purpose.
