Faith in the Living Christ
Paul was standing before Festus because of accusations brought against him. Yet Festus could not understand the real issue. The disagreement centered on religious matters and, most importantly, on Jesus Christ—whom Paul boldly proclaimed to be alive.
To Paul, the resurrection of Jesus was not merely a religious discussion. It was the foundation of his faith and the message he had been called to proclaim. Jesus had died, but He had risen again, and Paul refused to remain silent about this truth.
The world may sometimes look at our faith and see only religious beliefs or traditions. People may not understand why we trust Christ, why we choose obedience, or why the resurrection matters so deeply to us. But our faith is not built upon human opinion. It is built upon the living Christ.
Because Jesus is alive, our faith has hope. His resurrection assures us that death does not have the final word and that God's promises can be trusted. It also gives believers courage to remain faithful even when others misunderstand or oppose them.
Paul continued to testify about Jesus even when he was standing in difficult circumstances. His surroundings did not change the truth he believed. We can learn from his example by keeping our eyes on Christ rather than allowing the opinions of others to weaken our faith.
