STANDING IN THE GAP
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one." Ezekiel 22:30 NLT.
The implication of the topic of our devotional today from the context of our anchor Scripture is to expose oneself to the protection of something, to make defence against any dangerous onslaught, to take the place of a fallen soldier. This has been God's heartbeat from time immemorial, He has been searching to find willing and dedicated believers who would avail themselves for the enormous responsibility of standing in the gap for others. From our foundational Scripture, you could have the feeling of God's 'desperation.' It doesn't mean that God cannot do whatever He wants without using man, He is Supreme and Sovereign, but He has chosen to use man as an instrument.
The wall of faith (today) is in a state of disrepair because there are few who are genuinely leading men back to God.
God is in need of faithful people like you and me who He would use in unison (even from diverse nations of the earth) to resist and overcome evil.
Would you make yourself available for this onerous task?
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father LORD, thank You for the grace and privilege to be alive today, increase my faith as I face these times. Endue me with the spirit of intercession to enable me stand in the gap, to Your glory.
FURTHER READING:
2 Chronicles 7:14; Luke 22:32; Ephesians 6:11-16; John 16:23-24.
