The Dangerous Consequences of Disobedience
(1 Chronicles 10:1-14)
******
Here is a sad story of the end of one of the greatest kings of Israel, the first king Saul. We see how his eventful life ended so tragically because he disobeyed God twice in seeking the help of a medium to get the message of what to do. We learn many spiritual lessons from this story.

Saul was made the first king of Israel as people demanded from God. Soon after, God told him to completely destroy Amalekites in the war. Saul kept some best things to please the people and thus disobeyed God in not complying fully with what God had commanded him.
Samuel came and passed on the sad news that God rejected Saul and he would die along with his sons in the battle soon, and the kingdom would be given to David. (1 Samuel 15).

For God,, obedience is better than sacrifice. Let us not try to hide our rebellion and disobedience with our religious rituals and traditions. or lame excuses to please self or others.

Secondly, Saul sought for a familiar spirit- demonic fortuneteller. God hated this sin. He did not bother to pray and seek the Lord's face (1 Samuel 28).
God was angry because of these two things and killed Saul and his 2 sons in the battle (1 Chron.10:13-14).

God is very serious about obeying His Word fully and consulting Him for everything in our life. We should never approach anyone for guidance despising God's Word.

Lord Jesus said that if you love Me, you will keep My commandments (John 14:15). Obedience in the OT was out of fear of judgment and death. In the NT, we obey because we love the Lord.

The Great Commission contains the important part of disciplemaking- to teach to obey what all He has commanded (Matt 28:18-20).

If you learn to obey God, then you will teach others- your family, church and others to obey God too. Amen.

Be challenged!
