THE GOD WHO SEE THE HEART

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"...the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart and appointed him leader of his people, because you have not kept the LORD's command." 1 Samuel 13:14 NIV.

David happened to be this man (anyone can become such, but it comes as a result of a deliberate personal decision, efforts and sacrifice to please God). He was the man after God's heart due to the following reasons.

1). He had firm belief in God right from his youth. (1 Samuel 17:34, 37; Psalm 23)

2). He never ceased to diligently and continually seek God's face, his counsel and dependence on him in a childlike manner. (1 Samuel 23:2-4; 2 Samuel 2:1).

3). He worshipped God with all that was within him. (1 Chronicles 15 & 16).

4). He, in humility recognised God as the real King of Israel. (2 Samuel 5:12).

5). Even in public, he did not refrain from obeying God and carrying out his will. (2 Samuel 6:14-19).

Though later in life and on some occasions he, through his conduct caused God grief by his acts of adultery, murder and census etc, but at every point he sought God's forgiveness through his confessions. (2 Samuel 12:7-14; 1 Chronicles 21:1-17; Psalm 51:1-12).

PRAYER BULLETS:

Father LORD, help me by Your grace to seek after You with all my heart.
May I not ever loose sight of You as to want to please men over You.

FURTHER READING:

Psalm 34:2; 1 Corinthians 1:31; 2 Corinthians 12:9.
