THE PILGRIMS GUIDE

NUTURE, NOT BIND
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you." Galatians 4:19 KJV.
Paul, the apostle here in our foundational Scripture by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit expresses the deep concern over the spiritual atrophy of the Galatian believers in Christ Jesus, whose faith was being jaundiced by the influence of the pseudo-Gospel of mixing the grace of God and human works as preached by the Judaisers, thereby causing him to travail over their condition until Christ is fully developed in them (Galatians 4:8-20).
Here, we see the compassionate heart of a discipler who means well for his disciple(s) at work. He travails and works hard to ensure that his disciples/mentees are cruising in the right position and direction. It is not for him to seek to prevail over them as though they were in contest. But with meekness and candour diligently nurtures, guides and influences them to take the right path in view of eternity, and to the glory of God.
Your generation is waiting for you to nurture, and not control the lives the Heaven has entrusted to you for discipleship. Don’t duel with, to prevail over their lives, for that will be disappointing to Heaven.
PRAYER BULLETS:
LORD Jesus, thank You for opening my eyes to Your word. Give me the grace to travail over souls of men to Your glory.
FURTHER READING:
Romans 14:1-5; Isaiah 42:13-14.
