THE PILGRIMS GUIDE FRIDAY JUNE 27, 2025 HUMILITY MATTERS A WORD FROM THE WORD: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble." James 4:6 NKJV. Humility, a part of the essential characteristics of a believing child of God can never be overemphasised. Our LORD Jesus Himself during His life and earthly ministry was humility personified, and He taught on the importance of humility. 'Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.' (Luke 18:10-14 NKJV). You see, humility is foremost, in being, and then in deed. Your outward appearance may show you off as humble, but the contents of your heart is what determines your humility. And what you may not reckon with is that you may not be aware of it. But your ignorance does not shield you from the consequence, as you will have God's opposition against you to contend with. *'God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble.' (James 4:6 NIV). If you want to walk in God's favour today, then humble yourself before Him. It matters a whole lot. PRAYER BULLETS: LORD Jesus, I am grateful for the privilege of learning at Your feet.
