Joy in Giving

"But I have all, and abound. I have been filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things which you sent, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable and well-pleasing to God." Philippians 4:18 (KJV).
Paul coming to the end of his letter to Philippians remembers and appreciates how they were the only ones to support him in the Lord's work. That shows their concern and love for Paul and God's work too.
Many may offer prayers for you and ministry but then do nothing practically to help you meet your needs. Philippians believers were different. They cared for Paul and his travels and practically shared in his needs so that he could travel and do ministry.
Paul says that he was not appealing to them for funds but reminding them of their generosity so that they may know that their offering of worship to God in the form of giving for His work, will be rewarded suitably by the Lord.
We notice that Paul or other Apostles never appealed for money or support from the churches or believers. Because God provides for His workers when He calls them to do His work. God speaks to His people to support His work and take care of His workers.
God has proved this in my own life and ministry for 40 years! There were times when some people came running to my house to share their blessings without me ever asking or telling them my needs!
It was my commitment when God called me for ministry that I would not ask from or tell my needs to others. And God helped me to keep that commitment till today! I had seen God sending His 'crows' and at times, 'widows,' to take care of me in times of need.
Paul also tells us that their giving for God's work is like a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is well-pleasing and acceptable to the Lord. This is true worship. Sadly many are limited to singing loudly and dancing for their pleasure in their so-called worship meetings but never give generously for God's work. Giving is worship and giving to the Lord's work brings glory to God as souls are won and His Kingdom is built up.
How is your participation in supporting God's work and workers?
Is giving a part of your worship or just getting entertained with emotional singing and music? First God wants your life and then all that you have belong to Him. Do you want to lay on the altar for God to use your life and all He has given you?
"Each one, as he purposes in his heart, let him give; not of grief, or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that in everything, always having all self-sufficiency, you may abound to every good work;" 2 Cor. 9:7-8.
