THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Part-1

Hi good morning!! How are you doing??

"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23 has over the years inspired a lot of people as it gives hope, assurance and guidance. Many people have sought to draw inspiration from this passage as a source of protection from their enemies. This often memorised passage continues to remain universally relevant as it has been acclaimed as a source of comfort to many.

Psalms 22, 23, and 24 are seen by some as shepherd psalms, where the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep as a suffering servant and king. Let’s reflect this powerful passage as it will seek to reveal the unconditional love that God has for humankind by constantly holding them, meeting their needs, even during their dark valley experiences.

Psalm 23 was written by King David who grew up tending sheep as his father was also a Shepherd. David often used the everyday life related aspects as metaphors of great wisdom. In this Psalm, David expresses his great confidence and delight in the constant protection of a loving God. It is important to have God's protection. Whether an individual is deeply connected to God, or wandered away from the fold or is seeking comfort in the Most High, this Psalm is normally selected as a passage of hope. And it's full of hope, insights and God's love and care that transforms. Elohim is not only the creator God but also the one who consistently protect, manage and care for the ones who walk under His shadow.

In John 10:11, Yeshua says that “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”. This shows the devoted love and care that Baliraja has towards humankind in ensuring their comfort and safety. Yes Yeshua is the good Shepherd and hence, many believers find it quite easy to connect with Psalm 23, as they are already aware that He is their Shepherd.
