THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

Part-2

Psalm 23 is a song of gratitude to a loving God in a painful world. David expresses confidence and trust in the Lord by portraying God as a good “Shepherd” who both guides and blesses them. David sings this towards the last part of His life while he transfers his duties to his son Solomon. The Lord is the All powerful sovereign God who never fails or forsakes or discourages or is unfaithful. We could see the context of Psalm 23 in I Chronicles 28:20. 'David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.' It's after this encouragement to Solomon, David sings this hymn 23. God's goodness means that they have nothing to fear: whatever happens to them, God will be with them.

Of course "dark valley" is full of death, dangers and fears. There could be dangerous animals, deadly wild hunters, it could kill all the sheep. But only the one who walks with God could walk through many dangers, cross the valley of death and reach the green pastures. God created the earth and instilled humans as the crown of creation. Even El Elohim chose this world, and send his begotten son (Jn 3:16). What is our choice??

In Isaiah 40:11, God gives reassurance of His constant care and protection of His children. He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. A characteristic of sheep is that they like to wander from the fold and the shepherd will sometimes have to climb steep mountain slopes in an effort to save them.

In Luke 15:4-5 Yeshua said “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders.” This is the kind of shepherd we have. A wonderful protective shepherd. All we have to do is to become His sheep for Him to function through us.

What is our choice—world or worldliness?? Are we able to become God's obedient sheep?? Think of it. Have a blessed and wonderful day!! My prayers, love, blessings and healing remains with you!! God bless you much!!
