OBEDIENCE OVER LIP SERVICE

A WORD FROM THE WORD:

"Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter." Matthew 7:21 NLT.

As the LORD Jesus was rounding off His sermon on the mount, He made this astounding truth known to His hearers, which by extension includes us today as His followers. Paying lip service to the LORD Jesus, and having a head knowledge of Him are not qualifications for spending eternity in God's presence.
The words are good, but beyond that, the actions, that is the 'doings' which are impelled and driven by obedience and faithfulness to the will of God, and reverential fear for Him. It should be noted that these 'doings' are not inclusive of eye service or 'religious politicking' where people delude themselves by thinking that it's enough to serve in the five-fold ministry and yet be bereft of Heaven's demands, or to give to God's work, build church structures, underwrite the Missionaries' expenses, and yet lacking in the real 'doing', the will of God, which is the righteous standard, demand and value can never be lowered to accommodate any shortfall.

No, beloved, the doing of the acceptable will of God is not in words, but in deeds anchored on faithfulness, obedience to, and reverential fear for Him. And these things are possible and achievable, by the grace of God.

PRAYER BULLETS:

LORD Jesus, I have come to realise and recognise that I cannot do the Father's will by the power of my self-life. Help me to be focused, obedient and faithful in doing it.

FURTHER READING:

Luke 13:24-27; Romans 2:13-16; James 1:22-27.
